Ten Thousand Soul Banner: Deceased, do you have any unfulfilled wishes?-Chapter 1008 - 1004: Home
Shen Siyuan washed away the dust from his journey and just came out of the bathroom, only to see everyone already seated around the dining table, bowls and chopsticks neatly placed, clearly waiting for him to start the meal.
Taozi, quick-eyed and swift-handed, was just about to get up to invite him to sit next to her. But Tang Tang, across from her, beat her to it, stretching out her small body as far as she could, pointing to the empty seat beside her, eagerly calling out "oh~ oh~", her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Shen Siyuan couldn’t help but laugh, and went over to sit in the empty seat as she wished.
Taozi pouted, muttering to herself. It’s one thing for adults to compete, but even this little brat joins the fun; she’s really helpless.
"Eh~"
Seeing Shen Siyuan sitting next to her, Tang Tang instantly grinned widely, showing a simple and adorable smile, and drool dripped down from the corner of her mouth.
"Hum, do you really like Potato that much?"
Dou Dou sat on the side, her little face puffed up slightly, with a tone full of obvious jealousy.
On one hand, she felt her Potato was being snatched away; on the other, she was upset that Tang Tang’s favorite person wasn’t herself, feeling bitter.
Unfortunately, Tang Tang couldn’t hear her complaints. Even if she did, she probably would just keep clinging to Shen Siyuan, completely ignoring her.
"Let’s eat."
Shen Siyuan gently touched Tang Tang’s little head, indicating for everyone to start eating with a gentle voice.
Tang Tang immediately turned her body towards Shen Siyuan, her short legs paddling in the air, seemingly trying to move her chair closer to him, but she was so weak that the chair remained motionless, completely futile.
Her clumsy yet persistent look made Dou Dou burst into laughter: "Haha, did you get fleas on your butt? Want me to give you a little slap!"
Though Tang Tang couldn’t hear what Dou Dou was saying, she knew from her mischievous smile that it wasn’t anything nice.
She immediately slapped her hands onto the table, glaring at Dou Dou with round eyes, her little mouth hummed arrogantly.
"Alright, alright, eat instead of bickering as soon as you meet." Shen Siyuan helplessly laughed, reaching over to pull Tang Tang’s chair right next to him.
The little one, feeling the distance closed, finally calmed down and obediently picked up her chopsticks to dig into her rice bowl.
The atmosphere at the dining table gradually heated up. Taozi took a few bites of rice, couldn’t help but ask eagerly: "Since you’re back, you won’t be leaving this time, right?"
"I still have to go out, there are some things to handle." Shen Siyuan said while placing a piece of rib in Tang Tang’s bowl, "But at most for a few days, not as long as this time."
Ruan Hongzhuang and Taozi both sighed in relief upon hearing this, their faces showing a smile of relief.
"Then do you have time tomorrow?" Taozi hesitated for a moment but mustered her courage to ask.
"Tomorrow? Yes, what’s up?" Shen Siyuan looked at her, a bit surprised.
"Two months ago, her parents invited you over for a meal at their house. You haven’t been back, and now they’re starting to suspect you two have broken up." Ruan Hongzhuang explained helpfully from the side, with a hint of tease in her tone.
"Ah? Why didn’t you tell me earlier?" Shen Siyuan put down his chopsticks, looking shocked.
"I was afraid of interrupting your practice."
Taozi fiddled with her chopsticks in her bowl gently, her tone had a hint of grievance, like a little wife who had suffered an injustice.
"It’s just a meal, it won’t take up any time." Shen Siyuan laughed helplessly.
"Having a meal won’t delay you, but the key is... her parents seem to know about our situation." Ruan Hongzhuang changed the subject, "They’ll probably want an explanation from you."
Taozi nodded, sighing: "Sigh, that’s what worries me the most, afraid it’ll affect your practice."
Shen Siyuan suddenly understood and calmly said, "Then I’ll go with you to meet Uncle and Aunt tomorrow."
"You... aren’t you worried at all?" Taozi was both surprised and delighted, her eyes full of anxiety, "What if they object?"
"What’s there to worry about?" Shen Siyuan looked nonchalant, "They’ll find out sooner or later. I’ve been mentally prepared long ago."
"How do you plan to talk to them?" Ruan Hongzhuang curiously followed up.
"I’ll just say it as it is, honestly explain everything."
Shen Siyuan had a look of "a dead pig isn’t afraid of boiling water", which made Ruan Hongzhuang roll her eyes.
"Aren’t you afraid they’ll stop me from being with you?" Taozi was still somewhat worried.
"Afraid of what?" Shen Siyuan suddenly laughed proudly, "Anyway, they can’t beat me. If they truly object, I’ll just take you away!"
"I’m serious here!"
Taozi, both annoyed and amused, gave him a secret kick under the table, yet her heart was sweet like honey.
"Oh?"
Tang Tang was lowering her head eating, suddenly felt a kick, and raised her head puzzled, looking at Taozi sitting across, her little face full of confusion, seemingly asking: "Eat properly, why are you kicking me?"
Seeing her clueless and adorable expression, everyone burst into laughter, the atmosphere at the dining table became more relaxed and lively.
Shen Siyuan smiled, holding Tang Tang’s small hand, helping her wipe off the grains of rice from the corner of her mouth, continuing: "I’m serious. As long as you’re willing to be with me, no one can stop us."
Taozi’s cheeks turned slightly red, glared at him playfully, but her heart was sweet.
Still, she said: "You think you’re the King of the Mountain?" 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
As soon as dinner was over, Taozi couldn’t wait to dial her parents.
On the other end of the phone, Jiang Hongtu and his wife were overjoyed to hear Shen Siyuan was coming over tomorrow, their tone full of haste, wishing Shen Siyuan would appear in their living room right away.
After hanging up the phone, Taozi was still wearing a barely concealed smile, while Ruan Hongzhuang teasingly remarked: "Listen to your parents’ attitude. Do they sound like they’re going to break you apart? Clearly, they’re looking forward to you two getting along well."
"Humph, they know their place!" Taozi raised her chin, spoke with pride, looking like a peacock who had won a victory.
"Oh, taking pleasure in your eloquent tongue here." Ruan Hongzhuang playfully poked Taozi’s forehead, "How about saying that in front of your parents? And, who was sighing every day, worried sleepless for the past two months?"
"Hehe..." Taozi was caught and embarrassedly scratched her head, not arguing back.
Now that the big stone in her heart had settled, she felt as if there was honey inside, her mouth couldn’t help but curve upwards.
She turned to look at the living room, her gaze instantly softened.
Shen Siyuan was sitting in the center of the sofa, Tang Tang and Xiao Ya nestled on either side of him, their little bodies pressed tightly against his arm, listening intently.
Shen Siyuan held a picture book in his hand, his voice gentle and deep, reading the story to the two kids, the light casting a soft glow over him, making him look particularly warm.
"Why is he so popular?" Taozi mumbled as she watched, "Adults vie for him, even kids are joining in; he’s really in demand."
Ruan Hongzhuang followed her gaze, laughing: "If you think it’s tiring to compete, you could just opt out."
Taozi immediately rolled her eyes, retorting: "You’re the one who started it first! If anyone should opt out, it should be you; I’m not giving up!"
"Hmph~" Ruan Hongzhuang raised her eyebrows, deliberately raised her chin with pride, "Don’t forget, I am Siyuan’s legally wedded wife, rank priorities as you will, but you’ll have to step back."
"You!" Taozi was left speechless, her cheeks puffing out with frustration.
She secretly regretted being so slow, always a step behind.
In the living room, Shen Siyuan continued reading stories, occasionally accompanied by Tang Tang’s "eh~" response and Xiao Ya’s soft exclamations.
