Ten Thousand Soul Banner: Deceased, do you have any unfulfilled wishes?-Chapter 1053 - 1049: Evening Breeze Guides Us Home
A gust of Yin Wind swept by, and Duoduo’s figure gently landed beside Shen Siyuan.
"Brother!" She looked up, her little face beaming with joy that couldn’t be concealed.
Shen Siyuan smiled and patted the empty spot on the bench beside him, signaling her to come and sit.
Duoduo quickly climbed up skillfully, her short legs dangling in the air, swinging incessantly like a little squirrel that had sneaked some candy, feeling carefree and content.
"Did you have fun at Brother’s place today?" Shen Siyuan turned his head, a gentle look in his eyes.
"I had fun!" Duoduo replied crisply, and just as she finished speaking, she hurriedly asked, "Brother, are we going back to Bin Hai now?"
"As long as you’re happy, no rush to leave." Shen Siyuan raised his hand and pointed forward, "Look."
Duoduo followed the direction he pointed, and instantly widened her eyes.
The setting sun hung in the western sky, spreading its golden-red glow lavishly across the sky, enveloping the grand palace beneath their feet.
The undulating sea of glazed tiles was bathed in a warm golden light, the rectangular silhouette outlined by the vermilion palace walls appearing like a giant ancient scroll slowly unfolding in the glow, majestic yet gentle.
"Wow... it’s so beautiful!"
Duoduo couldn’t help but exclaim, her little head slightly tilted up, her eyes filled with the glow of the sunset.
"Yes, it’s very beautiful," Shen Siyuan softly echoed.
Duoduo never mentioned going back again.
The two sat side by side on the bench, quietly watching the sunset sink bit by bit, casting its last rays on the land, until the horizon was completely tinged with twilight.
The night descended, and the neon lights of Xiajing lit up one by one, weaving a sea of lights that bathed the entire city in dazzling radiance.
But as Shen Siyuan looked at this bustling scene, he inexplicably felt a sense of emptiness in his heart, losing any interest in admiring it.
The umbrella handle turned, and the world reversed.
In just an instant, the two were taken from the twilight of Xiajing back to their home in Bin Hai.
Just as they landed, the sound of Tang Tang and Xiao Ya playing around came from the living room next door, mixed with Taozi’s involuntary laughter, sending a warm feeling towards the balcony.
Shen Siyuan looked down at Duoduo, who was putting away the Qiankun Umbrella, and gently asked, "Do you want to go straight home, or stay here for dinner with me?"
He looked up towards the balcony next door, where the lights were brightly lit, indicating that Lin Jianming and his wife were likely home as well.
"I want to go play with Tang Tang."
Before Duoduo even finished speaking, she dashed into the house like a gust of wind.
"Is Tang Tang back? Where’s your brother?" Ruan Hongzhuang’s voice was the first to come from the living room.
"I’m back too," Shen Siyuan responded as he walked into the house.
He saw Ruan Hongzhuang sitting on the sofa, a pair of gold-rimmed glasses on her nose, holding a stack of documents, fully absorbed in reading.
The soft light fell on her face, adding a touch of intellectual grace rarely seen in her daily demeanor.
"Why did you bring work home?"
Shen Siyuan walked over and sat beside her.
"There was an urgent document that needed handling."
Ruan Hongzhuang said, gathering the papers together and casually removing her glasses.
Taozi, standing nearby, reflexively reached out to take them, realizing only after her fingers touched the cool frame, prompting her to mutter inwardly.
Even though she was Ruan Hongzhuang’s assistant, it was off work hours and they were in her own living room; her actions made her feel like a personal maid instead.
Ruan Hongzhuang stood up and stretched, her slender waist bending into a graceful arc.
She turned to look at Shen Siyuan, a hint of curiosity in her eyes, "Did you meet the person? Is the problem solved?"
"Yes, I met them."
Shen Siyuan nodded, his tone carrying a hint of contemplation, "The problem... is half solved, I suppose."
"I bet you haven’t had dinner yet." Ruan Hongzhuang turned to Taozi.
"Taozi, go ask Sister Xiao Mao when dinner will be ready."
"Alright." Taozi responded and headed towards the kitchen.
Shen Siyuan settled back on the sofa, and Ruan Hongzhuang naturally sat on his lap, resting her head lightly on his shoulder.
"Massage my shoulders, I’ve been busy all day, and they’re sore."
Given her current physical condition, this amount of work wouldn’t actually tire her out; she was just acting coy with him.
Shen Siyuan understood perfectly well but didn’t expose her, and his fingers began to gently massage her shoulders.
Just then, a series of "creak creak" sounds approached from afar.
Tang Tang rode her little tricycle, wobbling over to them, with a fluffy shark hand puppet on her hand, and her big round eyes curiously examined the two who were intertwined.
"Big cat, where did you go today?" Tang Tang tilted her head and asked.
Just as Shen Siyuan was about to speak, Tang Tang suddenly stretched out her neck, her small nose twitching as if she had sniffed something, and then her eyes lit up with surprise: "Gourd?"
"What gourd?" Shen Siyuan was taken aback by her question, looking utterly confused.
"You went to the place that sells candied gourds!"
Tang Tang smugly shook her head, the fin of the shark hand puppet swaying along, "Little carp, you can’t fool me, haha,"
"Your little nose is really sharp." Shen Siyuan chuckled, "But I didn’t buy anything."
Tang Tang’s little face immediately fell, like a deflated balloon.
She pouted and pedaled her little tricycle away, "creak creak" as she wobbled off in disappointment.
"You too, next time you go out, remember to bring some snacks back for the kids."
Ruan Hongzhuang lightly nudged Shen Siyuan’s chest with her elbow, a hint of playful scolding in her tone.
Shen Siyuan took the opportunity to tighten his arms, hugging her slender waist, nodding with a smile: "Got it, I’ll remember next time."
As soon as he finished speaking, he looked around the living room and asked in confusion: "Where are Mom and Dad? Not home?"
"They went for a walk downstairs, they should be back soon."
Just as Ruan Hongzhuang finished speaking, the sound of a key turning in the lock came from the door.
But when the door opened, it wasn’t Ruan Xiangqian and his wife who came in, but Dou Dou with her two ponytails.
"Tangdou, I’m back~"
She hadn’t even fully entered the door, but her crisp and loud voice had already rung inside, like a chirping little sparrow.
Then, she immediately spotted Shen Siyuan on the sofa, her little face instantly falling, and she ran over with a huff, her short legs stomping. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
At this moment, Ruan Xiangqian and his wife slowly entered the house with Xiao Yue following behind.
"Xiao Shen is back?" Ruan Xiangqian greeted with a smile, a hint of concern in his eyes, "Got everything sorted out?"
"It’s all taken care of, Dad. Thanks to your help this time." Shen Siyuan responded with a smile.
In the meantime, Dou Dou had already run to the front of the sofa.
Seeing Ruan Hongzhuang sitting on Shen Siyuan’s lap, she unceremoniously reached out her small hand and pushed Ruan Hongzhuang’s arm: "Aunt Ruan Ruan, could you move aside?"
"Oh, little girl, what are you up to?" Ruan Hongzhuang raised an eyebrow, teasing her on purpose.
"I want to sit here!"
Dou Dou announced seriously with her hands on her hips, "I have something important to say to Brother Potato!"
"Alright then, you can sit here."
Ruan Hongzhuang laughed as she ruffled her little head before getting up to make room.
Dou Dou immediately scrambled onto Shen Siyuan’s lap, and once she sat down securely, she put her hands on her hips, tilted her little face up, and stared at Shen Siyuan with fierce eyes: "Why did you leave me today?"
"Do you know, I was so sad, so upset..."
As she spoke, she exaggeratedly covered her little stomach with her hands, frowning, putting on a heartbroken look.
Shen Siyuan held back his laughter so hard that his shoulders were shaking slightly. He reached out a finger, lightly tapping Dou Dou’s chest, and seriously corrected her: "The heart is here. The stomach can only get hungry, not sad."
Dou Dou paused for a moment, quickly moving her hand from her stomach to her chest, her eyes instantly reddening, looking at Shen Siyuan with teary eyes, appearing even more pitiful.
Everyone in the living room couldn’t help but stifle their laughter, while Shen Siyuan couldn’t hold back either, his mouth turning up widely.
"You’re still laughing!"
Seeing him not comforting her but laughing instead, Dou Dou grew even more aggrieved, pouting as she accused, "You’re so young, yet so wicked, so evil, so cruel..."
A series of exaggerated adjectives completely broke Shen Siyuan’s restraint, and he burst out in laughter, gently poking Dou Dou’s forehead, amusedly asking, "Where did you learn those words from?"
"Saw it on TV, my mom loves to watch..." Dou Dou blurted out, then suddenly realizing, she puffed her cheeks and pursued, "Wait, you haven’t answered my question?"
Shen Siyuan pointed behind her, diverting the topic with a smile: "Solve her first, then we’ll talk."
Dou Dou turned her head in confusion and saw Tang Tang narrowing her round eyes at her, her face chubby and round like a little fox ready to pounce, her eyes full of mischief.
"Han~"
Tang Tang gave her a silly grin, and before Dou Dou could react, she lunged forward.
"Wah~"
Dou Dou was startled by the sudden leap, her body tilting, and she slid right off Shen Siyuan’s lap.
Before she could steady herself, Tang Tang wrapped her arms around her little leg, dragging her towards the middle of the living room.
"Save me! Brother Potato, save me!"
Dou Dou struggled while shouting at the top of her lungs, mimicking the tones from a play, wailing dramatically, "I’m innocent, I am wronged..."
The living room immediately erupted with laughter, and under the warm yellow lights, the atmosphere was lively and filled with the feel of daily life.
