That Time My Anime Life Got Cursed by Outer Gods-Chapter 41 - 40: A Kiss in the Spotlight
Chapter 41 - 40: A Kiss in the Spotlight
"Then why didn't you tell me first?" Eriri Spencer huffed, still feeling angry despite knowing deep down that she was making a lot of progress. She couldn't help but shudder at the thought of how, from now on, every time she used transportation, she'd feel weak.
It was a relief that she had taken the family car; otherwise, she wondered if the tram would've been the end of her.
Living in Neon for so long, she'd never heard of anyone experiencing motion sickness. And now, she feared she might be the first.
Shiro Sakamaki responded indifferently, "Didn't you forget? Don't worry, there won't be a problem."
Didn't the Dragon Slayers like Natsu Dragneel also get motion sickness? But in the end, their strength overcame it, Shiro added in his heart with a nonchalant shrug.
"Hmph, I think you're just trying to see me make a fool of myself," Eriri shot back, pouting.
"No way," Shiro said seriously. "Everyone might play tricks on you, but not me."
His serious expression made Eriri hesitate for a moment, but she still asked cautiously, "Really?"
"Fake!" Shiro replied, breaking into a mischievous grin.
"You're impossible!" Eriri growled, before, without warning, she grabbed his arm and bit down hard.
Shiro instinctively tried to use Armament Haki to defend himself but quickly stopped, fearing the counter-shock might hurt her.
Eriri, however, was only pretending to be angry. As soon as she was about to bite down harder, she relaxed her grip.
This playful act sparked a wave of discontent among the onlookers, especially the singles nearby.
"Damn it, a winner in life, and he still has to show off at a maid café!"
"Ugh, I'd willingly lose five years off my life just to hold her hand!"
Whispers floated around them, making Shiro's face darken. Eriri, too, heard the murmurs, and her face turned red in embarrassment.
Shiro Sakamaki had never been one to back down. So, in the midst of Eriri's shock, he suddenly grabbed her chin and kissed her on the lips.
After pulling away, he licked his lips, clearly unsatisfied.
Eriri stood frozen in shock. She hadn't expected him to kiss her out of nowhere. Although they had confirmed their relationship the night before, it was still a huge shock to be kissed in front of so many people.
If this moment had special effects, she'd probably be surrounded by steam, and her ponytails might just fly off.
"Stupid! What was that for? Why did you kiss me so suddenly?" she stammered, flustered.
"Ahem, it's because you're so cute, Eriri," Shiro explained casually. "I couldn't help myself. Next time, I'll be more controlled."
Eriri's face turned an even deeper shade of red, and her twin ponytails started to whip around like a whirlwind, resembling Kirito's Starburst Stream. She fumed, "You better not do it again!"
Around them, people whispered even more. Eriri's petite frame, sky-blue eyes, and blonde hair in double ponytails—she looked like she'd stepped out of a two-dimensional world.
"Okay, okay, Eriri," Shiro said, trying to calm her down as he saw the eyes of others lingering. "Let's not make a scene. The people around us are watching."
"Ugh, it's all your fault. This is so embarrassing," she muttered, still trying to hide behind him.
The maid who was serving them couldn't help but comment, "Excuse me, but could you please keep it down? There are other guests around."
Eriri finally realized how her behavior had been over the top. She buried her face in Shiro's back like an embarrassed ostrich, not daring to face anyone.
"I'm sorry, little maid, we were just having fun," Shiro said apologetically.
The maid sighed, "It's fine, just... please consider the others. Most of us here are single."
After their public display, the two of them could no longer stay in the café. The gazes of the single guests were too much to handle.
Once outside, Eriri was still dazed by the sudden kiss, while Shiro casually dangled an ice cream cone in front of her until she took it.
"Come on, Eriri," Shiro said. "It's not like you've never been kissed before. Why are you so worked up?"
"Hmph, you're such a scumbag," Eriri huffed. "A girl's first kiss is precious. You took it so casually, and it wasn't even romantic."
Shiro leaned in close, his voice low and teasing. "So, tell me, what would you consider romantic, Miss Kashiwagi?"
The question struck Eriri like lightning, and she froze in shock. She quickly covered his mouth, flustered and trying to hide her embarrassment.
"You... How did you know about that?" she stammered.
Shiro smirked. "I know a lot of things."
"For example, how you help your mom and dad sell books at Comic Con," he added casually.
Eriri gasped. "Mother must have told you!" she said, realizing her slip-up.
"Nope," Shiro replied, grinning. "I just know about you, Kashiwagi Eriri."
She quickly clamped a hand over his mouth again. "Stupid! Stop talking about that on the street! If people hear, I'll never show my face again!"
Shiro chuckled. "Why should you care about what others think? If you like something, be proud of it."
Eriri hesitated, clearly uncomfortable with the idea. "I don't care what others think. My image as the perfect lady must be maintained. I can't let it go."

She seemed unusually serious about this, her expression determined.
Shiro raised an eyebrow. "Do you really think I'll look down on you for liking these things?"
Eriri's face turned darker, and she seemed to be deep in thought. "Well... what if you do?"
Shiro didn't answer directly. Instead, he leaned in closer. "If you're worried, I'll just kiss you again."
Eriri's face flushed, and her eyes widened in panic. But then, without warning, she said, "Fine. If you want to kiss me again, find somewhere private. We're on a busy street, and I don't want anyone seeing us."
For once, Eriri didn't act tsundere; instead, she answered directly, her usual pride set aside.
"Then let's find a place with no one around," Shiro suggested, clearly teasing her.
Eriri understood his intention immediately. Her face turned even redder, but she was no longer upset. Instead, she just sighed, resigned to her fate.
The two of them spent the next few hours wandering around Akihabara, picking up a few things and finally leaving just before 5 PM.
Shiro took a taxi, planning to send Eriri home. When they arrived at her house, Sayuri had been waiting outside. Seeing Shiro with Eriri, she smiled with relief.
Her daughter, the one who usually acted so reckless, had finally managed to keep her IQ online when it mattered.
