Chapter 536: As Long As We’re Brothers, Let’s Go Dig Up a Corpse at the Graveyard!

Nanli still had some strength left and accurately grabbed Ye Siheng’s hand. Without opening her eyes, she grumbled, "Didn’t you say to take it slow?"

Ye Siheng took a deep breath, feeling rather helpless, and could only kiss her lightly on the forehead. "Alright, I’ll do as you say."

He truly had no other intentions. But Nanli was not as she used to be--she had exhausted much of her energy. Sleeping for two or three days wouldn’t be enough; she’d probably need to rest for half a month to recover.

In just a few breaths, Nanli was already deeply asleep, still holding his hand.

Ye Siheng sat by the bed for a while, his gaze falling on the half-visible Spirit Pearl around her neck. A thought crossed his mind, and he gathered his spiritual power, trying to channel it into the pearl.

Nanli had accumulated enough virtue for the pearl to begin healing, and it could now release some of its power. If his spiritual energy could repair the Spirit Pearl, wouldn’t that spare her from so much fatigue?

However, after staying on the Spirit Pearl for just a moment, his spiritual energy dissipated.

Ye Siheng raised an eyebrow. It seemed futile...

Alas, it was his fault for only having an inner core and not knowing much about such things, unable to truly help her.

After watching over Nanli for a while, Chu Yan woke up outside.

Hearing the commotion, Ye Siheng walked out.

Chu Yan, sitting on the Luohan bed, had undergone a transformation due to his muscle and bone reconstruction. Though his appearance hadn’t changed much, his aura was different.

When he moved, his limbs were perfectly fine. The most noticeable change was how much lighter he felt, how much clearer his vision was, and how enhanced his hearing had become.

He Qinian and Zhi Mi both congratulated him.

Qi Hong, though his eyes were swollen like walnuts, still shed tears as he nodded at Chu Yan.

"I made it!" Chu Yan exclaimed joyfully, immediately looking for Nanli. "Where’s Sixth Sister?!"

Standing not far away, Ye Siheng replied, "She’s exhausted and has already gone to rest."

Chu Yan, despite the inhuman pain he had just endured, could still feel his bones aching when he recalled it. But he was more concerned, asking, "Is Sixth Sister okay?"

If Ye Siheng hadn’t been blocking the door, Chu Yan would have barged in to check on Nanli.

Knowing this, Ye Siheng didn’t budge from the doorway. "She’s fine, just needs rest."

It wasn’t out of jealousy--he simply believed that even between siblings, there should be propriety as adults.

Hearing this, Chu Yan had no choice but to hold back.

Ye Siheng continued, "Fifth Brother, you’ve successfully expelled the Heart-Uniting Enchanting Bug, and your bones and muscles have been reconstructed. Why not freshen up and bring this good news to the elders?"

Had Nanli not specifically asked for it, the elders would’ve already come to Chilling Garden to wait.

Chu Yan nodded. "As always, the prince is thoughtful. I’ll go immediately."

As he left, Qi Hong naturally followed.

Ye Siheng instantly felt more at ease. After all, since childhood, he and Qi Hong had been rivals, never getting along. Before, Qi Hong had the backing of the White-Browed Priest and had cultivated dark arts, making them evenly matched. But now, with Ye Siheng’s great fortune, he had long surpassed Qi Hong, and could easily kill him.

But as fate would have it, Qi Hong was blood-related to Fifth Brother!

Even if they weren’t really family, they still had to live under the same roof. Seeing him and not being able to kill him was truly unsatisfying.

With that, Ye Siheng decided to take Nanli back to Prince Yu Mansion, where the beds were larger at the Liuli Pavilion.

He gave a few instructions to Rainbow and draped Nanli in a cloak before whisking her away in a flash.

Rainbow and the others could only sigh, packing up to return by carriage later.

Just after settling Nanli in, Qing Feng came to report, saying that Xuanyuan Che had arrived.

Qing Feng spoke through gritted teeth.

Ye Siheng gave him a glance. "Are you dissatisfied?"

Qing Feng quickly lowered his head. "I wouldn’t dare."

"That’s your problem--you’re never careful in your work and don’t know how to hide your thoughts. How can you manage the Supervisory Office like that?" Ye Siheng scolded coldly.

"Your subordinate knows he’s not capable, but that doesn’t mean Xuanyuan Che can! Even though the princess is now the ruler of Border Nation, Xuanyuan Che once plotted against the officials--he’s part of the Xuanyuan family!" Qing Feng argued.

If Xuanyuan Che used the Supervisory Office’s power to help the Xuanyuan family regain control, it would be disastrous.

Ye Siheng remained calm. "You needn’t worry about this. I know what I’m doing. Bring him in."

Qing Feng gritted his teeth but could only lead Xuanyuan Che inside.

Xuanyuan Che, dressed in plain black without any patterns, had a pale and lifeless face.

Upon seeing it, Qing Feng was startled. "What... what happened to you? Were you bullied at the Supervisory Office?"

One needed skills to survive there, after all.

Xuanyuan Che ignored Qing Feng and knelt before Ye Siheng. "Your Highness, the task you entrusted to me... I can’t fulfill it. Please, take back your order."

Ye Siheng looked straight at him. "Why?"

"I need to return to Border Nation."

"Your sister refuses to come to Mu Nation?" Ye Siheng asked.

When he had pardoned Xuanyuan Che, the man requested to reunite with his sister, and Ye Siheng had agreed, sending Black Armor Guards to retrieve her.

Tears streamed down Xuanyuan Che’s face as he choked up, "She... she’s already gone, never to reunite with me again."

Ye Siheng frowned deeply.

But Qing Feng was livid. "What?! You spent years undercover in Mu Nation, risking your life, all for your sister! How could those people in Border Nation let this happen? Where’s their honor?!"

Xuanyuan Che wiped his eyes. "Qing Feng, you’ve always understood me. Yes, my sister lived well for a while, but when Xuanyuan Fu took the throne, he began forcing young and beautiful women into his harem... and my sister was one of them."

Qing Feng was enraged. "That beast! So, did your sister take her own life rather than be humiliated?"

"No... she was... killed by Xuanyuan Fu," Xuanyuan Che could barely speak, the pain too much to bear.

A heavy silence followed.

Ye Siheng’s face darkened, unsure what to say or how to comfort him.

To harm one’s own kin--how could Xuanyuan Fu be so ruthless?

Qing Feng placed a hand on Xuanyuan Che’s shoulder, raising his sword with the other. "Brother, don’t worry! I’ll go with you to Border Nation and chop that monster into pieces!"

Xuanyuan Che, moved, replied, "But... he’s already dead, slain by the ruler, and his body was thrown into the graveyard."

"Long live the princess!" Qing Feng shouted. "But if you’re still not satisfied, I’ll go with you to the graveyard and chop his corpse into pieces!"
