The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 226: The Other Half ()
’Torin... what are you doing?’ Zariah thought to her wolf warily,
At this point Torin had not only backed Askel into a corner, his back had hit the wall and there was no longer any path of retreat.
Zariah could see from the back of her mind that Askel was thoroughly intrigued by the situation, a delighted glint in his eyes.
There was also a dim glow that attested to the fact that Vance, Askel’s wolf was probably on the surface.
Between all four entities, or five if Zariah took Askel’s beast into consideration, it seemed like Zariah was the only one appalled by the situation and what it could possibly result into.
’Torin, listen to me! You can’t just barge in here and do whatever you please!’ Zariah hissed at her wolf anxiously.
’Watch me.’ Was Torin’s simple response, but that response alone spoke volumes of Torin’s intent.
It was only then Zariah began tugging at the strings of her mind, demanding back the control she had lost to her wolf.
But it was all to no avail, Torin had gotten close to Askel now and she still took a good few steps forward, till she was completely pressed up against him and there was not an inch of distance between them.
Zariah was alarmed at this, she could not even hope Askel would turn Torin away, with the dazed look in his eyes from just their close proximity, Zariah knew Askel was not capable of turning down what he had most likely been craving for so long already.
It was only left to Zariah to prevent anything from happening before it was properly thought out.
Zariah tugged more insistently for control but Torin suddenly seemed to be so much stronger, like she had not been the one believed dead just a moment ago.
’Torin!’ Zariah hissed, but no one was listening to her.
Torin’s gaze was fixed on Askel’s eyes and they both seemed lost in each other’s gaze.
It was not that Zariah was unaffected by the situation and the feeling of Askel’s broad, muscular chest pressed up against her so tightly, it was just that if only this once, Zariah felt she had to be the rational one, Torin was somehow unable to do that anymore.
"Do you not realise that you are mine?" Torin asked Askel in a low drawl.
Askel tilted his head to the side, a smug smirk on his lips.
"I do know it." Askel replied easily, goading Torin on with his words.
Zariah could have sworn that was intentional, and Askel made no attempts to be subtle about it with how his tongue darted out to wet his bottom lip.
A growl rumbled low in Zariah’s throat, or Torin’s seeing as she was the one at the forefront at this time.
"How come anyone still dares to flock around you, courting death?" Torin asked.
"She must have lost her mind." Askel replied with a casual shrug.
Torin leaned forward slightly, inhaling deeply and Zariah could not even bear the weirdness of her wolf.
"You do not carry my mark, nor my scent? I have no idea what Zari has been doing all this while...it is no wonder some random woman dares to lay a hand on what is ours..." Torin discerned the source of the problem.
At least to her own understanding, it was.
’Hey! How is any of this my fault? It was him in bed with the random woman!’ Zariah defended herself.
But Torin ignored Zariah like she was just a bother.
Torin leaned down, nuzzling her head in Askel’s neck and Askel tilted his head to the side, granting Torin all the access she needed.
Zariah was alarmed as Torin trailed her nose down the side of Askel’s neck, inhaling deeply, that intoxicating scent of his that left them both feeling lightheaded.
"That will have to be remedied...you and Zariah both need to stop with the dramatics and this is the surest way, I am certain Vance would agree..." Torin murmured in a low tone.
Torin’s intentions were as clear as day to everyone involved, she was going to mark Askel and solidify their bond and she was going to do it now, not only out of her possessiveness but also to ensure Zariah could not retreat from this situation anymore.
"Do whatever pleases you, beloved." Askel consented without hesitation.
’Torin! Let’s talk about this for a moment...’ Zariah tried to reason.
"I do not want to hear what you have to say, Zariah...you have not been very nice to our mate and I do not appreciate it." Torin said out loud, sharing their private conversation to Askel’s hearing.
’Damned wolf! It’s complicated, don’t you see that?!’ Zariah hissed.
Zariah’s eyes widened in alarm as she felt her canines elongating and in that moment, Zariah tugged with all her might, seizing control of her body before Torin could do anything silly in the spur of the moment.
Torin was tossed to the back of Zariah’s mind, furiously growling as Zariah’s consciousness rose to the surface, right before her canines could pierce skin.
However, Torin was still right on the surface and her influence was so overwhelming, even more so because it had been too long since Zariah had to fight her wolf for control.
And Askel’s scent was equally so overwhelming and intense now that Zariah’s sensitive senses had returned in full strength along with Torin’s return,
Zariah realized she had it easy with the mate bond all this while, finding it easy to resist Askel without his scent driving her mad, she could finally see what Askel had been going through and Zariah knew she needed to get away from him and all the temptation that he was.
Zariah retracted her canines and attempted to make a dash for it but Askel’s hand moved to encircle her waist, keeping Zariah in place.
Zariah’s gaze lifted up to his and Askel studied her eyes, an adoring look in his. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Zari...do not fight it, do not resist Torin...let her out." Askel coaxed.
The softness of his tone was warming, yet a perfect contrast with his firm, possessive hold, all of it messed with
Zariah’s clarity and she found herself in the back of her mind again the next moment.
