The Alpha's Forsaken Feisty Mate-Chapter 48: But not rejection
The next morning, Phillipe woke up from a good night’s sleep. He was in a good mood after such a long time. As he stepped into the balcony, a horrified gasp escaped his mouth, seeing the heads of the three heads, hanging there.
"Guards! Guards!" Phillipe shouted at the top of his lungs as he withdrew from the balcony, feeling furious. Who dared to do such a horrendous crime?
"Yes, Your Majesty!" A guard rushed in and bowed to the Alpha King.
"Who came to my chamber last night?" Phillipe asked, grabbing the guard from his throat.
"No one, Your Majesty," the guard replied promptly.
"You worthless fool! Ask the Military Commander and the entire warriors team to come, who look into the night security. Tell Alfred to come here," Phillipe said, shoving the guard away, who staggered before balancing himself and running away.
"Who could do this?" Phillipe scrunched his brows, his blood boiling.
Alfred, the Military Commander, swiftly came to the King’s manor with a group of warriors and greeted the King.
"Your Majesty, what happened? You look troubled," Alfred greeted first and then asked the reason for the King’s worry.
"Go and check the balcony," Phillipe said while remaining seated on the chaise.
The warriors also followed their commander to the balcony. All of them were shocked to see the three heads hanging in the balcony. Recognizing them was not easy.
"Take them out and clean this entire balcony. No trace of blood shall remain here," Alfred instructed the team before stepping back into the chamber.
"Your Majesty, I’ll investigate the matter and report you soon. By then, you should consider shifting to another chamber," Alfred advised the Alpha King.
"Find out soon if you want your position to be safe. Someone is trying to blackmail me, threaten me with such heinous moves. Find out to whom those heads belong. I want every single detail from you, Alfred," Phillipe commanded as he rose to his feet.
"Rest assured, Your Majesty," Alfred replied and bowed to him. As the Alpha King left, Alfred returned to the balcony to find out evidence, if any, present.

’Wake her up,’ Black said in the back of Radulf’s head. ’It is already past breakfast time. She should be awake by now,’ he panicked.
’Calm down, Black,’ Radulf told his wolf while staring at the peaceful face of Zenna. He closed his eyes and didn’t realize when he fell asleep again until his sleep broke abruptly.
"Zenna!" He called her name, not finding her on the bed and quickly shifted on the bed while sitting up only to find her near the window.
"What are you doing here?" Radulf asked concernedly and approached her.
"I thought I wouldn’t see today’s sky," Zenna said.
Radulf frowned to hear her words. "We have to see many seasons together," he whispered.
"You should reject me, Radulf. There’s no use to keep me by your side," Zenna said.
His jaw’s muscles twitched to hear her asking for him to free her again. "I can give you anything but not rejection," Radulf said.
"Don’t do this to me," Zenna urged.
"What did I do? I told you not to go to the palace. I warned you, but you were confident. Why didn’t you use the matebond and called me to help you? Do you think that weak of me?" Radulf lost his temper suddenly. He ran his fingers through his hair, apologizing to her promptly.
Zenna looked at him with a mix of emotions. Was he truly worried for her or was he angry because he failed to show his strength in front of the Alpha King?
’Why don’t you tell me the truth? Your crazy father asked you to bear a son for his benefits,’ Radulf thought in his mind. ’But how is she supposed to tell me? I have hurt her only. There wasn’t a single moment when I considered her efforts for saving this marriage.’
Before Zenna knew it, Radulf carried her up in his arms in a bridal style while being careful not to hurt her back. Bringing her to the bed, he made her settle on the mattress while he himself was on his knees now.
"You need a good rest," Radulf said.
"Hmm."
"Pia!" Radulf called for the attendant and stood up.
"Yes, Alpha?" Pia bowed, ready to take the order.
"Help the Luna in everything. Don’t let her step out of the bed," Radulf instructed her. Turning to Zenna, he said, "I will see you during breakfast. We will do it here, then you need to take your medication."
Zenna stared at him in disbelief. Was it truly her mate’s caring side for her? She was in doubt.
Radulf turned on his heels after wearing the slippers but stopped. He gazed at Zenna and leaned down to press a kiss on her forehead. His body instantly felt hot with the brush of her skin.
Zenna peered at him, but didn’t say anything. She was confused about the entire scenario. Radulf was too soft and warm to her. It was opposite of his usual behavior. She watched him leave and heard Pia’s words.
"Luna, I shall take you to the washroom," Pia said, helping her stand up.
"Pia, why is Radulf acting like that?" Zenna asked.
"What do you mean, Luna? He’s doing what a husband should do," Pia said, her eyes turning watery. "I was so scared for you, Luna. Your pain was unbearable to me. Doctor Josiah said that if not for Alpha Radulf’s quick action, it would be tough to save you," she whispered.
"So, it wasn’t a dream!" Zenna murmured to herself. "He did come to save me. But how?"
After freshening up and having a bath, Pia helped Zenna in changing into a comfortable attire, the gown was specifically ordered by Radulf.
"Was Radulf angry?" Zenna asked as Pia pulled up the zipper of the dress and looked at the luna through the reflection of the mirror.
"Very," Pia replied. "He never left your sight. Your wounds were deep and you were even crying in your unconscious state. Alpha Radulf kept his hold on you to take as much pain as he could. He took care of you the entire day and night," she explained to Zenna.
