The Alpha's Forsaken Feisty Mate-Chapter 61: Zenna likes red
"Luna!" Savio greeted her with a bow, but she ignored him and went straight out of the mansion. He furrowed his brows together, wondering if something was wrong. "I wonder if Radulf has again hurt her," he murmured and went inside.
His eyes fell upon Radulf, who was at the bottom of the stairs now. Savio noticed the angry expression on Radulf’s face, realizing he again fought with Zenna.
The two of them walked toward each other. "Why did you lie to me about Gregor sending her those flowers?" Radulf’s tone was low but brimming with restrained anger.
Savio raised an eyebrow. "Don’t tell me you actually confronted Zenna about it," he said in shock.
Radulf’s eyes narrowed. "I did, and it upset her," he admitted with a frustrated sigh.
Savio let out a soft chuckle, shaking his head in disbelief. "You really have no idea how to handle your own wife, do you?"
Radulf’s expression darkened. "This isn’t about me, Savio. You lied to me, and it caused this mess. Now, you’re going to fix it. Tell Zenna the truth."
Savio shrugged, his nonchalance only fueling Radulf’s ire. "Why should I? She’s your wife. If you can’t figure out how to pamper her, that’s on you."
Radulf’s fists clenched at his sides, his voice rising. "What kind of friend does that? If you hadn’t lied to me, none of this would’ve happened!"
A sly grin spread across Savio’s face, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "I lied because I wanted to see just how far you’d go when you thought another man was paying attention to her. And, as expected, you bungled it. Honestly, Radulf, I can’t believe how rusty you’ve become at charming women. Whatever happened to the smooth-talker who could make any woman blush?"
Radulf’s green eyes widened, and his jaw tightened as Savio added with a smirk, "You used to captivate women like Nina with that silver tongue of yours. Why not try the same on Zenna?"
The teasing remark struck a nerve. A menacing look swept over Radulf’s face, and his voice dropped to a low, dangerous growl. "I never did that."
Savio simply chuckled, unfazed by the storm brewing in his friend. "Oh, Radulf," he said with a sigh, "for someone so terrifying on the battlefield, you’re absolutely hopeless when it comes to your own heart. You talk differently with Zenna, usually a harsher tone. I know from where that’s coming. But be gentle to her. That’s what you should as a man. Else, don’t call yourself a man," Savio said, patting his shoulder before walking away.
Radulf contemplated and decided to shift into his wolf form to make Zenna feel better.
Walking out of the mansion, he followed Zenna’s scent until he realized she was in the deeper part of the garden. He shifted into his wolf, letting Black take over.
’Now, watch and see how you love your mate,’ Black said to Radulf, who remained quiet.
Wagging his tail, Black reached Zenna in no time and found her standing under a tall oak tree, bathed in the soft glow of evening light. She looked lost in thought, her arms folded protectively across her chest.
Zenna’s instincts kicked in, sensing another presence nearby. She turned around sharply, only to find Black standing a few feet away, his red eyes glowing like embers in the shadows. Her lips pressed into a thin line, her gaze wary yet curious. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Black took the initiative, lowering his body and bringing his muzzle closer to her hand. His movements were slow, offering her comfort in silence.
Zenna’s eyes softened, but her voice was laced with hurt. "So, Radulf isn’t going to apologize to me again? Why does he always send you to soothe me? Am I that undesirable to him?"
Black growled softly, lifting his head and shaking it vigorously, his red eyes pleading with her to understand. He leaned closer, rubbing his face gently against hers with a gesture of affection.
"She wants me to apologize, not you," Radulf’s voice grumbled in the back of his mind.
"Stay quiet. I’ll handle this my way," Black shot back, a hint of defiance in his tone.
Radulf fell silent, lost in his own thoughts. ’What do I even want from her?’ he mused, frustration boiling within him. ’Every time I’m near her, all I can think about is... her. Her scent, her touch—fuck it.’ He forced himself to halt his thoughts, unwilling to let them spiral further.
Zenna’s soft voice broke through the tension. "Black, you have beautiful eyes," she murmured, her hand hesitantly reaching out to caress his fur. "Red is my favorite color, you know."
Black closed his eyes briefly, savoring her touch, his tail swishing gently behind him.
’Zenna likes red,’ Black told Radulf.
’I heard too. She can tell you that but not me.’ Radulf looked hurt.
’That is because you don’t love her the way I do. Don’t you feel her caress is so heavenly? I want to meet her wolf. I know her wolf is going to be as beautiful as her.’
Radulf felt quite happy seeing how his wolf was reacting. Even he was feeling warm with her gentle touches. Black closed his eyes as he settled on the ground.
Zenna got down, right before him, her fingers still caressing his soft fur. ’Black is so caring. I thought I didn’t want Radulf, but I do crave for my husband’s love. Pia was right, I think. I need to make sure Radulf burns for me the same way I did for four years,’ she thought to herself.
Planting a soft kiss on Black’s cheek, she pulled away and it opened his eyes. ’I received a second kiss from Zenna,’ he proudly said.
’We got that kiss. Why are you excluding me?’ Radulf annoyingly asked.
’Because you also exclude me when you are with Zenna. You hurt her,’ Black said.
’Hah! I’ll ask her to kiss me later,’ Radulf muttered.
’Don’t force it. I hate it when you do that,’ Black told him.
