The Alpha's Forsaken Feisty Mate-Chapter 83: Your dress... it’s torn
Zenna thought Radulf would not stop, but he did. Their gazes locked. She wanted to ask him what was in his mind, but his magical-looking eyes made her forget everything. She was just lost in them.
"Are you ready for the evening?" Radulf inquired.
"Yes," Zenna replied.
"Let’s steal every limelight we can in the ball," Radulf stated.
She nodded, wondering why he was talking in such a way. ’It is better to stay away from the limelight. People don’t target you then,’ she thought.
’Was she this pretty from this close? I’ve seen her like this so many times, yet I feel she’s glowing every day,’ he thought.
"I should check what’s in the lunch meal," Zenna said, hoping he would let her go. However, none of that happened. Instead, he lifted her and made her sit on the large desk. He took her left hand in his and found the fourth finger was still vacant.
"Why didn’t you find a replacement ring?" Radulf complained.
"I didn’t find any value in the wedding ring," Zenna replied, wanting to know what he had to say. She saw him pushing his hand into his inner pocket and watched him take out the ring box.
"Open it," Radulf said.
Zenna bit her lower lip before opening the box. Her eyes widened to see the same ring that she thought she had lost. Her lips quivered as she glanced back into Radulf’s eyes. He placed it on the desk and took out the ring.
"Did you keep it?" Zenna inquired.
"Hmm," Radulf replied and inserted it into her fourth finger. "Don’t ever throw it away. It’s a symbol that you are bound to me in this life," he whispered and brought her hand near his mouth. She didn’t expect him to kiss her knuckles, but he did, and even the top of the ring.
"You are acting strange," Zenna murmured.
"I know," Radulf replied.
Zenna smiled slowly and touched her ring. "Thank you for keeping it safe," she said.
’Her smile does something to me. I don’t know this feeling, but it is something I have never felt before. Is it her pheromones, which make me act in such a way?’ he thought.
"Radulf," Zenna called his name.
"Hmm?" He came out of his thoughts when she planted a kiss on his cheek. Before he could even react to it, she pushed him away gently and rushed out of the chamber.
"Is she a kid? Why does she kiss me on the cheek all the time?" Radulf murmured, smiling to himself. He took a few steps back before walking out.
"Yes. Radulf had this ring," Zenna informed Pia with excitement flickering in her eyes and face as she showed her finger to her.
"That’s wonderful, Luna! But you said you lost it near the lake and even felt it fell into the water," Pia said.
"I don’t remember exactly. I just threw it away and I thought it fell into the lake. All this time, I felt Radulf didn’t want to keep this marriage. But turns out I was wrong," she said in a low voice.
"Alpha is making efforts to win your heart," Pia said with a smile.
"Yes, he is. I thought everything was over between us," Zenna murmured.
"Nothing is over between you two. It never started, Luna. Just keep the faith. I am sure a day will come when Alpha confesses his feelings for you," Pia asserted, giving her hope.
"I won’t keep such high hopes. However, if that happens, I won’t want anything more," Zenna stated. "I shall get ready for the evening. Where’s my dress?" she asked.
"I will bring it," Pia said and rushed to bring the dress.
Zenna gazed at her ring and smiled brightly, her heart fluttering with joy.
A moment later, Pia returned with the dress, but with a saddened look on her face. Zenna noticed it and asked her if everything was alright.
"Your dress... It’s torn, Luna," Pia said, her face fuming in anger. "I think it was Miss Nina. Only she knew where your wardrobe was. I can’t believe she ruined your dress, your first-ever gift from Alpha Radulf," she spat while fuming in anger.
Zenna took the dress from Pia and examined it. There was a big hole in its front. ’Radulf will be upset if I don’t wear this dress,’ she thought, ’and telling him will only infuriate him.’ Zenna looked at the clock and saw there were still two hours for the ball to start officially.
"Pia, I’ll sew it," Zenna said.
"Huh? How? It’s ruined, Luna. You should inform the Alpha," Pia advised her.
"I cannot tell him now. This dress was a piece of art. The seamstress told me many wanted this dress, but because it was expensive no one wanted to buy it. Radulf did it, for me. I know stitching and even embroidery. I’m sure I can turn it around better. Just trust me." She requested the thread and needle box along with the lace and the same colored fabric. Pia brought the same fabric from the workshop within the estate. Since red was an easily available color, it didn’t take her long to bring it.
Zenna examined the front of the dress, deciding on the design she should give it using the fabric. When she finally understood that, she began the stitching while Pia kept her gaze on Zenna’s skilled hands.
Finally, after more than one and a half hours of work, Zenna was able to transform the dress completely. No one could ever tell that the dress was ruined from the front and there was a big hole in it. Zenna made roses with the fabric that Pia brought and eventually fixed them in the ruined part of the dress. She even used white beads in the center of each rose. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"Luna, this is magical. How did you do it?" Pia could not help but admire Zenna for her skills. "It even looks better than before. You are so talented, Luna," she praised Zenna, who put back the needle and thread into the box.
"Even I can’t believe it. I should get ready now," Zenna stated, realizing the time was less and Radulf would come any time soon to pick her up.
