Chapter 97: Visiting Strawberry Farmland (3)

Zenna bit her bottom lip, waiting for him to put her down. When he didn’t, she attempted to move herself, but Radulf stopped her.

"You didn’t say anything," Radulf said.

"What am I supposed to say?" she questioned, looking into his eyes.

"Tell me how you feel about it," he demanded.

’Everything that you do probably,’ she thought.

"Your silence kills me more." Radulf murmured against her skin as he rested his face on her chest, an intimate gesture from his side. He moved his head back before raining kisses on her collarbone, inching up to her throat.

Zenna closed her eyes while trying hard to suppress her moans. She should have stopped him, but she couldn’t. Her body desired him the same way he did.

Finding herself resting on the soft blanket, she finally opened her eyes as Radulf settled next to her on the support of his elbow. "Your cheeks have turned red," he murmured, caressing her right one with the back of his palm. "Is it because of what we were doing? How long are you going to resist me and this temptation? Our first time happened in my rut, which I don’t even remember well."

Zenna fidgeted with her fingers before meeting his gaze. "The day I’ll realize that I am ready to accept you wholeheartedly," she said.

"Don’t make me wait for too long," Radulf asserted.

"That depends on you, how you act," Zenna affirmed and turned her back to him. Her heart was pounding hard against her chest, keeping that feeling buried within her for a while.

Radulf lay down finally, keeping both his arms under his head as he looked at the tall tree above them. "Tell me, how did you spend your days in the cold palace?"

"I would read and draw the entire day. Gregor used to come to see me in the evening. Then, we would play for an hour," Zenna began telling him.

"Why did we never meet in those times? I would have rescued you then," Radulf expressed his desire.

"No one can go against my father. And," Zenna turned to look at him before continuing, "I am happy we never met when we were kids." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

"Why?"

"Because my past wasn’t good. And you always liked strong people. I was too weak to even stand before you," Zenna murmured.

Radulf turned to gaze at her. "I am sorry for hurting you with my words," he whispered. "Tell me more. I have attended royal events as a kid, but I never saw you in them. Were you not allowed to attend them?"

"Hmm. The Queen never liked my presence. But Gregor told me once that it’s because I look prettier than Aria. He said that to keep my heart," Zenna whispered.

"Gregor was right," Radulf said. "You are prettier than that bitch," he added, not leaving any opportunity to curse Aria.

Zenna’s cheeks flushed red and a smile appeared on her lips. "Cursing doesn’t suit you," she stated.

"I am cursing on your behalf," Radulf remarked. "If you had attended such royal events, people would have talked about your beauty. Aria’s presence would have diminished. You could have lines of suitors waiting for your single glimpse."

Zenna chuckled to hear his statements. "Don’t exaggerate anymore."

"It is not exaggeration. On the day of our wedding, I was furious for losing everything. But when you appeared on the aisle, my anger did fade. My eyes carried the hate for your father more than you. You were looking beautiful," Radulf said in a serious tone.

"I yearned to hear this from you. You found me beautiful, yet never told this to me. That was injustice," Zenna complained.

Radulf laughed to hear her. "How was that injustice? You are aware why I could never compliment you in the past. I always blamed you for the things, which you never did," he said, reminding himself of the mistake he made.

"And you’ve finally realized how wrong you were," Zenna muttered.

"By the way, I wanted to help Gregor. I know you get jealous of us because we are close. But he is my close friend. So, please, can I meet him in the evening?" Zenna requested.

"Don’t meet him," Radulf said.

"Why?"

"I will meet him on your behalf. If you meet him and the news reaches the palace, Aria will blame you wrongly," he explained after thinking thoroughly.

"Oh. You are right. Then, please help Gregor and don’t argue with him. Talk to him with respect and be humble," Zenna urged him.

"I’ll keep that in mind," Radulf said half-heartedly.

"Savio, where is Radulf?" Nina stopped him in the middle of the hallway.

"They have gone to a farm to pick up some strawberries," Savio replied. "Why is Miss Nina searching for Alpha Radulf?" he squinted his eyes.

"Well, I received this from the Luna Queen," Nina showed him an envelope. "I’ve not opened it yet, but the messenger said that the Queen wants me to see her."

"Open it," Savio told her. "Alpha will return late," he added.

Nina hesitated because she wanted to do it before Radulf, but Savio snatched it from her. "Give it back to me. I want Radulf to open it so that he will not suspect me," she raised her voice, attempting to take the envelope from him.

Savio, however, didn’t listen to her and took out the letter from inside it. "Alpha won’t suspect you because you are his friend now," he affirmed and began reading it.

Just then, Nina snatched it and took a step back. "Don’t try to be an Alpha when you are a beta," she said harshly to him. Lowering her eyes on the letter, she read the contents of it.

Her eyes widened as fear engulfed her.

"What happened?" Savio frowned upon noticing her expression.

"The Luna Queen mentions that I have betrayed her," Nina replied and knitted her brows together. "I did what she asked me to do the last time. Is she angry because I couldn’t stop Zenna?" she mumbled to herself.
