The Alpha's Villainess Wife-Chapter 17: Her Father
A knock came at the door.
"Come in," a rough voice spoke.
Whoever had knocked, stepped inside.
At the desk, a middle-aged man sat, stamping and keeping away the stacks of documents by his side on the desk. "What is it?" he questioned.
"I’ve contacted every influential publishing company, sir."
"And?" The man lifted his green eyes towards the male beta employee standing in his office with filed documents in his hand. "What happened?"
The beta looked reluctant to speak.
"Zarek."
He flinched at the sound of his name. "There is one company we couldn’t get a hold of."
"Which company?"
"TUD. The ultimate discuss. They aren’t taking any of our calls," he answered.
This made the middle-aged man frown. "And why is that? They have always been under our palms."
Zarek approached the desk and submitted the file to him. "Inside is a stack of pictures the man we have watching Malakai Basti took. Apparently, he seemed to have gotten to TUD first. And now they are working with him."
The man opened the file and the very second he took a look, he slammed his hands on the table and stood to his feet. "How did you let this happen?"
"My apologies, sir—"
"Your apologies?" he snapped. "TUD is the biggest publishing company. What’s the point of buying the other companies to our side if you couldn’t even buy TUD to our side? They have influence!"
He roughly combed his fingers through the strands of his hair and pointed to the door. "Get me Patro. Right now!"
"Yes, sir!" Zarek left the office as quickly as he could and returning after him was Patro, who stepped into the office and closed the door behind him.
The middle-aged man stormed out from behind his desk.
Patro was confused. "Dad—"
Crack. A loud slap landed on Patro’s face, enough to switch his head to the side.
"How stupid could you be?" the middle-aged standard alpha, his father, yelled at him. "You fell for a trap, a measly trap." The green of his eyes burned as he paced back and forth, roughly adjusting his ash-colored suit.
He angrily ran his fingers through the black of his hair and paused.
"Do you know what will happen now?"
Patro couldn’t answer.
He hit him again. "We’re going to be all over the place. We are going to be the talk of the pack."
"I’m sorry," Patro apologized with a strained voice. "I just...lost my temper."
"YOU IDIOT!"
He glared at him with pure rage.
"You think your sorry will fix anything? Have you ever wondered why I can’t seem to trust you completely despite you being my first son?" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Patro slowly lifted his gaze to meet his eyes.
"You are a very careless man, son," the man said. "You are smart, but you are very careless. You play these games, and then you let it get to your head. I told you that omega was trouble. I warned you to get rid of her, but you moron, you allowed her to slip off our hands. Do you know how much she knows of us? How are you sure she doesn’t have something hidden, anything that could destroy us?"
"Dad, she doesn’t have anything," Patro retaliated. "The Eve I know would have already done what she will if she did, after all, we have her father here with us. And even if she does have something, she wouldn’t be so stupid to use it. Not unless she wants her father dead."
The man, Zekial Zolotov stared at his son and slowly pinched between his brows.
"Patro, do you know what your problem is?"
Patro held his gaze.
"You underestimate that woman," he bit out with grounded teeth. "You do not realize how dangerous that omega is. Your first mistake was accepting and bringing her into this family. You thought you could use her, that we could use her! Now look where that has gotten us. The very moment you went after her life, she chose Malakai."
"Now let me ask you something, son." He stepped up to Patro. "Malakai is an enemy, we all hate each other equally, and you think he would have an affair with Eve, your ex-wife and ex-mate? You think Eve had the guts to have an affair while she was still stuck here?"
Patro furrowed his brows. "Dad—"
"Shh." Mr. Zekial shushed and grabbed the collar of his suit to fix it for him. "Something is going on between Malakai and that omega. There has to be a reason why he married her, something she could have offered him. And what do you think it is?"
Patro blinked and swallowed. "Revenge."
"Exactly." The older man chuckled. "She is going to allow him to use her and in return, Malakai will let her use him. A win-win for both of them, after all, you killed his sister, and the Bastia know."
Patro’s hands balled by his sides and so did the veins at his neck pop.
His father patted his shoulders. "Now, boy, no need to get angry. What’s done is done and what matters now is our next step. How we deal with this situation. So tell me, what are you going to do?"
It took seconds upon seconds before Patro finally relaxed. He gradually half smiled at his father, saying, "There is nothing much to do, other than to teach her a lesson. Eve needs to understand that she can’t cross me so easily."
"Exactly." Mr. Zekial peered at him with a look of pride and walked over to his desk, picking up a stack of files. "I have Malakai watched and just as I expected, he has the TUD company under his palms, meaning they won’t be working in our favor."
He continued, "You need to make that omega understand that just because she has Malakai Basti, it doesn’t mean she has won. You need to break her with something she values."
"And what is that?" he asked.
Patro’s lips curled into the most sinister grin he’d ever held and he breathed out. "Her father."
Mr. Zekial nodded in agreement. "Exactly."
"We have this man here with us because he is the only way to get to Eve. When she steps out of line, put her...BACK IN HER PLACE."
