The Alpha's Villainess Wife-Chapter 30: A Watcher
"Where is your wife?" Caius who sat opposite Malakai inside the private lounge in his hotel asked.
Malakai cocked a brow at him. "That is not a business of yours."
"Well, I’d expect her to come with you. You like taking her everywhere."
"She doesn’t feel good. Not since last night."
"And what is that supposed to mean?" Caius asked, tilting his head curiously.
"I wouldn’t call it weird because I didn’t mind, but she was being a bit different last night. Chaotic, I don’t know if that’s the right word." Malakai shifted closer to him.
The man furrowed his brows. "I cannot understand what you’re trying to tell me, brother, if you are not specific."
Malakai proceeded to clarify, "She woke up randomly last night and began crying. I asked what the problem was, but she didn’t even know why she was crying. Then her mood suddenly switched. She was happy, she wanted me to hug her, and she wanted to watch the sky. Those were anything but Eve, you’ve met her."
Caius stared at him with the most disappointed look in his eyes.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Malakai questioned.
The man shook his head. "You are very stupid sometimes."
"Excuse me?"
"It’s called a hormonal fluctuation," he responded. "She’s carrying a pup, so she’s going to experience mood swings. Random shifts between happiness, sadness, or irritation. She will cry more easily or maybe feel overwhelmed a lot of times."
Malakai peered at his older brother and slowly narrowed his eyes at him. "And how do you know all this? You don’t have a pregnant omega hidden somewhere, do you? Because if you do, I’m going to tell Mother."
Caius sarcastically smiled at him. "First of all, I’m not like you."
"Meaning wha—"
"Second of all, even I do, who do you think mother is going to kill first? Me or you, who got an omega pregnant and randomly married her overnight?"
"It was not...random," Malakai defended, relaxing back in his chair to cross his legs.
"Sure," Caius remarked sarcastically. "And if you must know, unlike you, I learn about omegas so I wouldn’t be as clueless as you when I do get a mate."
"Fuck you."
"Mind your language," he warned with his eyes and then proceeded to ask, "Why did you call me out here though?"
"I’m a bit bothered by something."
Malakai’s tone was serious. "We had a deal with Patro."
"Which is?"
"He’ll give Eve’s father back and in return, Eve will have to keep quiet and sit silent while he turns the entire scandal in his favor."
"You both agreed?"
"Yes."
"Then what’s the problem?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"At the beginning of this scandal, I brought TUD over to our side."
"I saw. They wrote in her favor. That’s why I can’t understand where you are going with this."
Malakai steepled his fingers. "Tell me something, if you were Patro and you made this sort of deal with your opponent, how would you turn this scandal in your favor?"
"Hm." Caius cocked his brow thoughtfully. "I suppose I’ll begin with buying back the biggest publishing firm to my side. After all, people are kept up to date by them before anything even makes it to the news. With TUD on his side, he’s already practically won."
"Exactly," Malakai affirmed. "What do you think he’s doing now?"
Realization dawned on Caius. "Oh, shit."
"Do you think he’s bought them over?" he asked.
"Probably. They’ve been quiet."
"Doesn’t this make things more difficult? With TUD standing with him, neither you nor Eve has anything on him right now. He’s practically untouchable."
Malakai didn’t disagree.
"What are you going to do now? Will you tell, Eve?"
"No. I think I’ll handle this myself. I want to see if TUD is really as loyal as they claim, or if they are easily swayed by someone like Patro."
Caius rose to his feet, hand shoved into the pocket of his suit pants. He ran his fingers through the black strands of his hair, green eyes flickering before he asked, "Do you want me to look into TUD? The manager specifically."
"No." Malakai shook his head. "I’d like to see what she will do first."
The man peered at him and shrugged. "As you wish."
"And oh, by the way." He added, "I think you should tell your wife about this. You are not going to like it when she finds out about it herself. Don’t forget she’s more than just your wife. You are a team in this."
Malakai watched him go and plucked his phone out of his pocket.
"Yuri."
[Sir?] A voice spoke on the other side of the phone.
"How is my wife doing?"
[She’s perfectly fine, sir]
"What is she doing?"
[I don’t know. She’s been on the laptop for over an hour now. I’m not sure what she’s working out]
"Good. Don’t forget your job is to make sure she’s safe every second I’m not there. But don’t get into her space or make her uncomfortable. Be invisible about it and if possible, do not let her find out about you."
[Yes, sir]

Eve clicked rapidly on the keyboard of the laptop before shutting it close in frustration. She grunted under her breath and buried her face in her palms for a few seconds.
She had been trying to break open the USB, to find out just what it was that was inside those files with those names. If the Morins were willing to pay ten million Weils just to have her extract the data for them, then the information inside must be something important—something that could ruin Malakai if anyone eventually breaks into it.
Who even made the data? Why?
The funny part was that the idiot Patro who’d asked her to do this job was unaware that his name was on the list as well.
But she was doing this for Malakai and not for anyone else.
Eve ran her fingers through her hair and proceeded to pull the USB out of the laptop. But then something grabbed her attention and she lifted her gaze towards the door that led out of the foyer.
She had been downstairs for a while now, specifically inside the foyer.
Yes, Malakai’s men were always surrounding the house and she understood why. But this presence was different, very subtle as if it were trying to hide from her.
Furrowing her brows, she carefully kept the device aside on the sofa and rose to her feet. Eve approached the door, pulled it open, and stepped outside.
She glanced from left to right, and one of the security guards met her gaze.
"Is everything alright, Mrs?"
Eve stared at him and slowly nodded her head. "Mhm...yes. Everything is fine. Can I ask you a question though?"
"Yes, of course?’
"Is there someone else in this place?"
"Ye?" The security was confused.
She narrowed her gaze and shook her head with a smile. "Never mind." She turned and stepped into the house.
In the middle of the foyer, she stopped and cocked her brow.
"Come out. I know you’re in here. Don’t make me find you myself."
