The Alpha's Villainess Wife-Chapter 43: Nyra Morin
"Sir, Mrs. Morin would like to speak to see you," Patro’s assistant informed from the other side of the phone.
"Let him in," he permitted.
The door pushed open and a woman walked in. Short blonde hair with a body wrapped in fine dark green silk and hands covered by black stylish gloves. The sound of her heels reverberated through the office as she approached the desk where Patro was and pulled out a seat for herself.
She peered at him with her emerald eyes as she crossed her legs and Patro smirked at her.
"You never cease to amaze me, Nyra," he said.
The woman held no smile.
"Look at you. Beautiful always, I can’t even keep my eyes off you."
"Don’t ever speak to me that way ever again, Patro," she warned.
But Patro grinned. "Why? Is it because of your mate? The one that doesn’t amount to anything? I’m unsure what you see in him. You are the name—the character behind the Morin. Your mate is completely out of your league, why are you—"
Nyra Morin snatched him by his hair, her grip tight and meant to be painful, whether Patro admitted it or not. She stared him straight into the eyeball, pure threat in her gaze. "Listen here, Patro Zolotov, I am not your ex-mate that you played around however you wanted. I am Nyra Morin and the next time you open your filthy mouth to speak that way about my mate, I swear to the goddess, I will tear you apart. Keep my mate out of your mouth. Whether he amounts to a thing or not, is none of your business. He’s mine and only I get to decide if he’s out of my league or not."
"You wouldn’t know what it means to cherish a mate anyway. Filthy manwhore."
She shoved his head and sat back into her chair, legs crossed and composure back to normal as if she hadn’t just lost it on him for a second there.
Every trace of amusement on Patro’s face was gone. "Feisty omegas are not really attractive." He shrugged to himself. "Shall we get to business?"
"Does it look like I want to spend a second more watching your face?"
"Take it easy on me, Nyra. Didn’t mean to provoke you, my goddess." He chuckled and set his documents aside. "So what do you want?"
"Patro, I hope you’re not playing with me."
"Meaning what?"
"I paid you ten million weils to have your ex-mate hack into that data and get that file for me."
"And she did." He frowned at her. "What is your problem now?"
Her hands balled into fists. "I told you that USB was fake!"
"That is impossible," Patro said to her. "I already had a man planted in Malakai’s company for two weeks now since you laid the complaint and I haven’t heard a thing about a USB!"
"Are you calling me a liar?"
She slammed her hands on the table.
"She is with the real USB. What I was given is a fake one and I need the real one!"
Patro rubbed his temple. "Listen, Nyra, none of this is my fault. I gave her to you like you wanted, the outcome has nothing to do with me—"
She snatched him by the collar of his suit. "Patro, you are overestimating yourself too much, you know. It takes me nothing to kill you and I will if you don’t get me that USB. We had a deal."
"If you so badly want the USB—" Patro snatched her wrist, a pissed-off look on his face. "—Then get it back from Eve, yourself. It is not my fault that your man was incompetent. It is not my fault your organization allowed a mere omega to outsmart you."
"She was your mate!"
"And?" He cocked a brow at her. "What is even in that USB? Why is it so important? It has nothing to do with me, does it?"
He watched Nyra’s lips curl into a sinister smile. "Don’t get on my bad side, Patro. You don’t know how easily I can destroy you and Malakai. The things I have on you two. Don’t assume that I’m going to share the top with either of you."
Patro rose to his feet to tower above her and his lips stretched into a smirk. "You overestimate yourself, Nyra. You were never in competition with the both of you. You are way beneath us. The real competition is between Malakai and I, and at the end of all this, there is only one of us who will stand."
Nyra’s cold smile stretched from ear to ear, and she patted his shoulders, a deep breath drawn out of her. "We’ll see, sweetheart. We’ll see."
She added, "Find that USB. I don’t want to have to come here again because the next time I do, it won’t be to exchange useless words with you. Do you understand?"
Patro smirked. "Beautiful woman, that you are,"
She didn’t respond to his words but turned and walked out of the door, slamming it shut. She made her way downstairs using the elevator and the very second she stepped out of the company, she found a man waiting for her, a massive smile on his face.
Her mate. A beta.
The annoyance she felt vanished right out of her and she approached him.
"Darian, why did you wait for me?" She asked, cupping his cheek, her thumb rubbing his under eye.
"We’re supposed to go to dinner," the man responded. Six foot two in height, sort of slender, with full hair of chestnut and soft ashen eyes.
Nyra cackled under her breath. "Yes, we’re supposed to and we will. But you didn’t have to stand out here and wait for me. I could have come to find you."
Her arms came around his neck and he kissed the side of her cheek to her ear before burying his face in her neck. "I’ll always wait for you. Besides, you didn’t take up to an hour."
She giggled at the feel of his soft bite and tilted her head up to find Patro gazing at them through his floor-length office glass window.
She gave him the middle finger.
Patro, who seemed a bit taken aback by it, let out a short laugh of disbelief before shaking his head. He picked up his office phone and proceeded to make a call.

"Have you found nothing yet?"
[No, sir. I haven’t heard anything about a USB and I’ve been paying close attention]
"I know Eve, the USB is definitely with her. Monitor and find it, do you understand?"
[Yes, sir!]
