The Animagus: From Hunter to Monster-Chapter 60: Solo Raid I
As Buji walked conscientiously into the dungeon, he couldn’t help but think about a few phenomenons. First, he thought about the key.
The key had been a result in form of reward he got after one of his two raids. He could call this key a rarity, since it belonged to a Dormant dungeon. And...Dormant dungeons are rarities too.
He had wondered why the orb had suddenly transformed into a key, but now he thought about it and its connection to the Dormant dungeon, he finalised that the key was no ordinary item.
And that should be the reason why the system had obliged him to make use of it only after he was able to unlock it. It also seemed like the spin wheel could have given him a different kind of Dormant dungeon if a different key had fallen to his luck.
’An entrance key to the Infernal Forge huh.’
Whether ’Infernal’ or ’Internal’, a raid is a raid, and a dungeon is a dungeon.
If it was about raids and dungeons, he had two in his record. The first one had brought dismay together with good luck for him. While the latter, if not for his supportive members, would have died for he second time. But...
But now, everything was a whole different ball game. He is in this dungeon, all alone and won’t have any comrade or team member or even friend to come to his rescue if need be.

Buji tried to calm himself. He had walked some metres into deep into this dungeon and there was lifelessness everywhere. Of course, except for him who wandered like a flying lily flower with no destination.
Anyhow things seemed to be turning, he should be on the edge above, right?
He had been engaging in different system’s daily quests which consistently included running. So, if that’s the case, he should have improved a lot, especially to represent the running tag.
---
Buji had come in contact with an invisible and invincible barrier. He glanced at the barrier before him, before making several knock thuds on the screen.
Buji tried his very best to know if he could escape the barrier but he couldn’t...
The next thing that materialized in front of him was the system.
<Ding!>
[You cannot break the barrier with your current body stats. Player must slaughter at least five of the dungeon creatures to be able to do that.]
Buji was disappointed. He thought that if anything should happen, he would have tipped into run.
Krrlank! Klank!!
The sword Buji held in his hands made clanking sound, scratching against the invisible barrier. Will he be stuck in here forever?
He didn’t think much of that possibility. He knew he was in for something big, but why in this form.
---
Everywhere seemed quiet except for the distant sound of falling debris from the dungeon walls.
As Buji was ending this observation, he sensed the strong aura that came from nowhere.
He tilted his head to turn in the direction behind him. What he could see now was the interior of the hall way which he came in through.
He felt that heat was emanating from the barrier. No, he was getting it wrong. The barrier was a canopy, it only served as a wall that blocked him from continuing his movements further inside.
Buji only stood there with his Slayer akin to his side. He was now waiting for whatever might be the turn out of events.
And then, there was this smell he perceived...
The smell of a... He couldn’t exactly tell what smell he was getting, but it filled the air, acrid and sharp.
His eyes narrowed, from the far end of the dark hallway, to the dimly lit environment where he was. Something got his attention back from the far end of the doorway.
Glowing red eyes were seen, sharp and piercing, cutting through the shadows. The creature gradually came out to sight, advancing forward to Buji with its massive paws scorching the stone floor of the dungeon.
It was a hound, but not just any hound. A Hellhound.
’That makes it understandable how this is an Infernal Forge. Just who knows what I might meet as I advance further.’
He glanced at the approaching hound once again, with his hand firmly gripped onto his Slayer in a ’ready-fight’ position.
The body of the hound was a mass of sinewy muscle, shrouded in a haze of flickering flames that suddenly turned off instantly. The creature growled with a low guttural rumble, while focusing its attention on Buji.
Buji on the other hand felt unshaken for this creature. He had the confidence in feeling that he was gonna defeat it. The dungeon was Dormant, and so, the first creatures he should meet will be as weak as just suitable for his capability.
"Figures," Buji muttered, tightening his grip the more on the Slayer as he stepped back only for his shoes to hit against the barrier. ’Oh, I forgot there was a barrier.:
However, the hellhound had reached closer enough and stopped, crouching low as if preparing to lunge at Buji. Its breath was molten and it steamed the air between them.
Just above the Hellhound’s here came some lettering that floated into sides, but in slow motion to allow Buji read it.
<Hellhound>
[Level 15
Exp: 150
Attack: Firebite, Infernal roar.]
Buji’s heart wanted to race but he suddenly remembered the creature should be not fit for him. He was in Level 21 while the creature was barely scraping through Level 15.
All he needed to do was avoid its bite, and target at its weak point. But, he didn’t know the weak point. He wished what he read in books will be of help now, ’The weakness of a hound comes from any piercing damage.’
"Come on then, let’s see what you’ve got!" Buji said with much confidence.
With a growl, and then a roar, the Hellbound charged with its claws in fast and swift motion towards Buji. Thanks to the system’s daily quests, Buji was quick enough, so he sidestepped just as it lunged, dodging the attack he would have gotten from the claws.
The hound felt it missed its attack and this time, leaping forward and approaching with a different speed that was wholly on another level. Its massive jaws shut inches from the right arm of Buji, who sucked beneath it, sliding to the other side. While still in motion, he swung his Slayer in wide arc, aiming for the creatures exposed flank.
Clang! Cll...ang!
His blade connected with the creature’s hardened hide, sending sparks flying as he came to a halt with his left foot slightly behind his right foot. The Hellbound snarled, but Buji was not sure it did it in pain, and quickly spun around whipping it’s tail towards Buji like a fiery whip.
"Damn!" Buji hissed just when he saw the hound’s new technique. He, however, threw up his Slayer just in time for its blade to strike the tail, sending a shockwave through his arms and forcing him to step back by several steps.
The screen immediately materialized in front of Buji.
[Endurance -1!]
"What?"
The Hellhound distracted with yet another movement towards Buji. With its maw opened, it release a jet of fire in Buji’s direction.
"Huh." Buji found himself saying as he rolled to the side. The flames missing him by a hair, as he scorched the ground where he had stood moments ago. "Not today!"
But the Hellhound didn’t relent. Just in Buji’s state, it ceased the opportunity to hit Buji hard with its hard skin, sending him flying distant into the darkness.
Buji lay on the ground, opening his eyes slightly to see the screen that had popped up before he was hit by the hound.
[Agility stat increased temporarily by 5 score points for 10 minutes.]
Buji smirked. "Guess this was as a result of my quick movement a moment ago.
With his temporarily boosted ability, he rose from the ground and darted with a hush, ran forward to meet the creature advancing too. With speed, he darted around the Hellbound, delivering quick slashes to its legs. The creature howled as one of its hind legs buckled.
"Gotcha!" Buji said, leaping back. "Thou shall not go against the wish of the master."
Buji didn’t know why he had to make that statement. But at the moment, that seemee to be a wrong statement. What he saw next was that the Hellhound has unleashed one of its attack ability—Infernal Roar.
"Woah!"
As it unleashed the roar, it sent a shockwave of heat and sound that sent Buji sprawling. His back hit the ground hard, and his vision blurred for a moment.
"Not now, get up, Buji," he muttered ot himself, shaking off the disorientation. But before his sight could clear, the Hellhound was already on him.
Buji’s eyes widened in desperation as he saw what was about to happen. The maws of the creature were wide open, coming down at him. Buji thought it was going to end at that instant.
The Hellhound, now on him, with its maws open, showed it’s molten fangs descending toward Buji’s face.
’Is this it?!’ Buji only found his thought saying.
