Chapter 1434: Cold Qi Eruption

"You're lucky you ran fast!"

Ling Feng drew in a deep breath and pressed a hand to his chest. A thin line of blood slipped from the corner of his mouth.

He had looked imposing and had even declared that he would kill Supreme Elder Ba Tu, yet three Great Emperors fighting together were no trivial matter. Ling Feng had appeared to suppress them steadily on the surface, but in truth he had burned through a tremendous amount of vitality.

The Dragon-Elephant Divine Strength was incredibly domineering. The burden it placed on the body was just as terrifying. Ling Feng had only just broken through and gained the Strength of Ten Dragons, yet he was immediately thrown into such a brutal battle. The fact that he had endured until now was already remarkable.

Fortunately, Supreme Elder Ba Tu had been intimidated by Ling Feng and chose to retreat. If the fight had continued any longer, the outcome would have been difficult to predict.

Ling Feng slowly returned to the ground and wiped the blood from his lips. Saint Lady Hui Yue lay half reclined against a large boulder, barely conscious. Her eyes remained fixed on him as she spoke weakly.

"Why... did you let him... escape?"

"You think I wanted to?"

Ling Feng withdrew the Devouring Flame back into his body and dispersed the Dragon-Elephant Divine Strength. His body immediately went weak and he nearly collapsed onto the ground.

"So this... is all you're capable of. What a waste... of my... Cold Moon Goddess Pearl."

"Save the sarcasm. If it were not for me, you would have died a hundred times already, old woman!"

Ling Feng snorted coldly and showed Saint Lady Hui Yue no kindness at all.

"You!"

Saint Lady Hui Yue choked with anger. She spat out a mouthful of blood and fainted on the spot.

Of course, the real reason was that she had already been pushed far beyond her limits. The fact that she had endured until now was proof of extraordinary willpower.

This battle had almost drained all of Ling Feng's strength, energy, and spiritual consciousness. He had relied on both strategy and nerve to finally frighten Supreme Elder Ba Tu into retreat.

Ling Feng quickly dealt with the corpses of the Barbarian Divine Guards, then walked over to Saint Lady Hui Yue and said in a low voice, "Hey. We cannot stay here for long. Do not say I left you to die."

He rubbed the bridge of his nose. No matter what, this woman was Jiang Biyi's mother. She had also helped him refine the Heaven-Incinerating Dragon Fire. Even though she had done it to save herself, leaving her here to die still felt wrong.

"Corpse puppet, pick her up and follow me."

Ling Feng glanced at Saint Lady Hui Yue lying on the ground. He was already so weak that he barely had any strength left, so he could only order the corpse puppet to carry her.

Fortunately one corpse puppet still remained. Otherwise, with both him and Saint Lady Hui Yue in such a weakened state, even a single demonic beast could easily kill them both.

About a quarter of an hour later, Ling Feng finally found a relatively hidden cave. He ordered the corpse puppet to guard the entrance while he lit a small campfire inside.

It seemed they would have to spend the night here for now.

Ling Feng checked Saint Lady Hui Yue's condition. Her injuries were extremely severe. Surviving in such a state was nothing short of stubborn luck.

"Hmph! If not for the fact that you are Jiang Biyi's mother, I would have thrown you to the beasts long ago after what you did to me at the Illusory Moon Divine Hall!"

Ling Feng frowned and took out several medicinal pills that restored vitality, forcing them into Saint Lady Hui Yue's mouth.

Whether she lived or died would now depend on her own fate.

Ling Feng was skilled in medicine, yet he had no intention of wasting his energy treating this woman.

There was a good chance that once she woke up, she might repay kindness with hostility. If that happened, he would truly regret helping her.

Ling Feng steadied his thoughts and sat down cross-legged some distance away. His own condition was hardly better. A peak Great Emperor was still a peak Great Emperor. Even with his strength heavily suppressed, dealing with him remained extremely difficult.

Still, the gains from this battle were considerable. Aside from the gaunt old man he had killed earlier, he had also slain four Barbarian Great Emperors. That alone counted as a major contribution.

Ling Feng had even collected the identity tokens of those four Barbarian Divine Guards so there would be proof of their deaths.

After swallowing several medicinal pills, Ling Feng began meditating to restore his elemental qi.

Time passed slowly. Night deepened, and eerie howls began echoing outside. The Dead Soul Devil Abyss had once again driven the demonic creatures into a restless frenzy.

Fortunately, Ling Feng had already refined the Heaven-Incinerating Dragon Fire. With the corpse puppet guarding the cave entrance, this night should pass safely.

In his hazy half-sleep, Ling Feng suddenly heard a faint trembling sound. His eyes snapped open.

He quickly realized that the entire cave had been sealed in ice.

Saint Lady Hui Yue remained unconscious, and the cold qi within her body had erupted out of control. The frigid energy spread throughout the cave and even froze Ling Feng awake.

"You really are troublesome, woman!"

Ling Feng looked toward Saint Lady Hui Yue. Her entire body had already turned into a massive block of ice.

Even the campfire that Ling Feng had lit with the Devouring Flame had been frozen solid by the cold qi.

"Damn it! You are not about to die, are you?"

Ling Feng hesitated.

On a personal level, he would rather see this woman die sooner than later. Yet Jiang Biyi was still his friend and had once saved his life. If he simply stood by and watched her mother die, it would not sit well with him.

"Fine! I will see this through to the end!"

Ling Feng sighed softly and leapt behind Saint Lady Hui Yue. He circulated the power of the Devouring Flame and purple fire surged outward. Before long, the thick ice encasing her body melted away.

He then straightened Saint Lady Hui Yue's body and pressed his palm gently against her back. Fire elemental force flowed into her body as he tried to counter the cold qi with heat, hoping to hold on until she awakened.

However, Ling Feng had greatly underestimated the power of Saint Lady Hui Yue's cold moon energy.

Just like Tuoba Yan, Saint Lady Hui Yue possessed the Profound Yin Physique. She also cultivated the power of the Cold Moon. Yin energy piled upon yin energy. The chilling force within her body was far beyond what Ling Feng's current cultivation could resist.

Before long, Ling Feng felt the cold qi reverse direction. Instead of being suppressed, it invaded his body from Saint Lady Hui Yue. A violent chill spread through him and his entire body began to shiver.

"Hiss... hiss..."

Ling Feng gasped repeatedly as the cold turned his face pale blue. He clenched his teeth and activated the Fire of Pure Yang to resist the cold qi.

After refining a Yin-Yang Stone in the past, Ling Feng had comprehended both the Fire of Pure Yang and the Water of Pure Yin. He had even gained insight into the profound mysteries of yin and yang, which elevated his control over yang power to a higher level.

At first the Fire of Pure Yang showed some effect against the Profound Yin energy inside Saint Lady Hui Yue. Soon afterward, however, his flames began to falter. The cold energy surged back again, and even his own body started to freeze.

Ling Feng had already reached a point where he could neither advance nor retreat. Even if he wanted to withdraw his hand, he could no longer do so.

"This is bad! I should never have played the good guy!"

Ling Feng cursed himself inwardly. He had overestimated his own strength. Saint Lady Hui Yue was already close to the Half-Saint realm. The cold energy inside her body was far beyond what his small amount of fire power could suppress.

Just as Ling Feng found himself unable to save her and instead suffered from the invading cold qi, a sudden flash of inspiration appeared in his mind.

At last, he thought of a risky solution.
