Chapter 1654: Chapter 1644: Awards Ceremony (Part 3)

The production team really knows how to keep the audience in suspense. As night fell, they first arranged for the other groups to come on.

First to appear were Zhou Weiwei and Zhang Wenyi’s group, because they were going for a walk on the beach before it got completely dark. That day, the two of them spent the day with energetic little kids at a kindergarten. Zhou Weiwei initially didn’t want to go for a walk, but she realized that on a reality show, you rely on your own skills to find the highlights, so no matter how tired she was, she had to come out with a forced smile.

She vaguely guessed the production team’s intention and had already prepared a gift for Zhang Wenyi. As they proceeded step by step to the beach, she could sense that Zhang Wenyi seemed to be looking for direction, probably indicating there was some setup over there.

Sure enough, when the sun had already set below the horizon and the sky was dimming, they finally reached the beach where candles were arranged.

Then Zhang Wenyi stood in the middle of the candles, saying something like "Till the sea dries up and rocks rot, my love will never change." To be honest, even though she knew it was scripted and for the program effect, she was still a bit moved as it was her boyfriend.

Besides Li Weiyi, she had dated a few others. Some just played around with her, some split due to time apart, and some were outright scumbags flirting with more than one person and got caught by her. At least for now, Zhang Wenyi seemed like a sweet guy and treated her quite well.

As for the future, she hadn’t thought about it much. She decided they could just get along for now. If she could advance to the level of Xia Siyu or Shang Feifei, why worry about finding a better man? Even if she didn’t want to reach high, at that level, she could be respectfully called "Sister Wei" in the entertainment circle. By then, would she still be afraid of not having handsome young men flocking to her?

Anyway, the current affection was genuine enough.

She nodded while feeling moved. She was fortunate to be an actress, forcing herself to tear up. She deliberately held the tears in her eyes and let them fall when he said "promise me," achieving a perfect effect.

After Zhou Weiwei nodded, the sky darkened, and suddenly there was a sound in the sky. She was startled and turned to look — it was fireworks.

Though setting off fireworks after a successful confession was common and just for the show effect, at that moment, fireworks blossomed over the coastline, still looking beautiful. Especially with the floral font in post-production, it was simply beautiful.

This group actually had quite a few CP fans. Since Zhang Wenyi appeared on the show, he lost many of his solo fans, but he didn’t have many solo fans to begin with, and his popularity with casual viewers indeed increased. Modern society finds cheating quite common, so people prefer to see someone loyal and devoted. Even if they originally didn’t know him, knowing it’s for a show effect, his good performance still won favors.

But the program’s audience was mostly focused on the following couples.

Especially Xia Siyu and Bo Yan.

As soon as the show started, someone in the bullet screen was already yelling:

"Where’s Xia? I want to battle her to the death!"

"Xia Siyu: A daily hack to avoid work."

"Girl, get up and buy a gift, or at least write a card."

The production team really knew how to create suspense, quickly showing the senior couple. This couple kept things practical, ending their day of work in a bridal shop, they went straight to the highest revolving restaurant around for a romantic night and candlelight dinner. Though it wasn’t very extravagant, it felt simple, peaceful, like a steady stream. Their marriage and journey were just like that. Besides the man not doing chores (which wasn’t a big issue since they had a maid) and a desire to push their daughter as a second-generation star, their performance had no slots to criticize, though no highlights either.

Next, the camera shifted to Shang Feifei’s group.

This group originally had many viewers, as Shang Feifei was a star. However, since Han Yifan joined the show with her, his quirky antics surprisingly attracted many fans. Though he gained fans, he didn’t enter the entertainment circle nor consumed his girlfriend’s fame. And with two years passing since the first episode, their relationship had remained strong, with no rumors of betrayal, resulting in gradual acceptance and fondness from the audience.

Xiaohua fans weren’t as possessive as young actor fans. Mainly because the fanbase was mostly female, who viewed male stars as romantic interests. But for female stars, fans couldn’t marry them, so they’d hope for a good match — given the guy’s conditions were genuinely good and he treated her well.

Han Yifan remarkably maintained his image. Though he performed decently, his punishment involved pounding beef balls for over two hours, making everyone laugh hysterically. During the night of confessions, while others had candlelight dinners, he was eating hot pot and singing with Shang Feifei, making things grounded.

Even though he later changed and played piano, in people’s eyes, he still had the scent of hot pot lingering, making it unromantic instantly.

Luckily, he rented a large drone which displayed "IU" and then "Fei" in the sky, a rather creative gesture. Shang Feifei was genuinely moved, but Han Yifan suddenly sniffed around and disdainfully said, "My clothes smell like hot pot too."

Shang Feifei broke into laughter instantly. It was cute, given her indifferent nature paired with Han Yifan’s silly antics; he was pretty interesting.

But another group, also an indifferent and silly pairing, continued the mismatch of styles.

When it came to Xia Siyu’s group, the progress bar showed only a mere ten minutes.

This episode had only been airing for fifteen minutes, yet this group had the most bullet comments, many people flooding the screen:

"Successfully parachuted in!"

"Smart me, I’m first to stamp this blank bullet!"

"Fast-forwarded straight to this, will watch the full version later."

"Let me tell you a ghost story: look at the progress bar!"

"Bo Yan, I love you, when will you marry me?"

"Sorry in front, Bo Yan already married me."

...

The previous groups were either secretly setting up or hustling for work. However, Xia Siyu and Bo Yan were trying to avoid the program’s penalties by saving money. As the sun set, Bo Yan was still busy in the kitchen, while Xia Siyu...was still taking a nap.

After much difficulty waking up, she lazily washed and tidied up. Once done, she ate, and after eating hoped to take out the trash and stroll — completely void of any feeling of gifting to the partner!

The bullet comments were anxious, mocking, and gossiping. As the night fell, it was finally time to give gifts — in the next episode preview.
