The Best Point Guard-Chapter 45 - 43: Super Dome Arena
Su Xi, 58 days shy of his 19th birthday, sat in the first-class cabin of flight UA857, waiting for takeoff as he toyed with his incredibly flexible fingers. A faint smile appeared on his handsome face as he recalled the incredible events of the previous day.
Yesterday afternoon, Su Xi and Huang Xiaoman went to the same Chinese restaurant where they had first met. When Su Xi first laid eyes on Huang Xiaoman, she had just arrived from China. Su Xi still remembered that she had been wearing a pair of red bell-bottoms with "Meteor Garden" written on them. At the time, her English wasn’t very good, and a waiter at the restaurant was giving her a hard time.
The waiter, who was also Chinese, deliberately spoke to her in English and accused her of knocking over some tableware.
Su Xi had stepped in, berating the waiter, whose own English wasn’t actually that good. A conflict then erupted. Su Xi pinned him against the wall, knocking over a few more bowls and chopsticks in the process, and even took a punch to the face while protecting Huang Xiaoman.
In the end, Su Xi had to pay 80 dollars for the broken tableware. The waiter was fired, and Su Xi made him apologize to Huang Xiaoman.
That was how they first met—a classic case of a hero saving the damsel in distress.
They were both finance majors, so they often hung out. Their feelings for each other grew without them even realizing it.
If Su Xi hadn’t awakened the Little Elf, he might have said yes when Huang Xiaoman confessed her feelings.
After all, he was now on a five-year pact: he had to win an NBA championship within five years. There was no time to waste.
Back at the restaurant, Huang Xiaoman had confessed to Su Xi again. This time, he didn’t reject her outright, simply saying that he needed to put all his focus on basketball.
Huang Xiaoman silenced him with a kiss, and right there in the restaurant, they began to kiss as if no one else was there.
Neither of them had much experience, though Su Xi was arguably the more experienced of the two. After all, he had learned about ’rapping’ from Jessica Alba.
The restaurant owner recognized them and gave them a couple’s special, on the house. He even said that ever since he saw Su Xi playing the hero, he knew he and Huang Xiaoman would end up together. "That’s how it always plays out on TV," he’d said.
After dinner, they went for a walk.
Huang Xiaoman suggested they go back to her place for a bit. She rented an apartment off-campus.
In her small apartment, Huang Xiaoman put on some romantic music. Then she wrapped her arms around Su Xi and began to dance, teaching him ballroom dancing. The two embraced, the atmosphere growing intimate. Huang Xiaoman’s figure was graceful and supple.
As Su Xi swayed along with Huang Xiaoman, he felt the ’Super Flexibility Talent’ inside him begin to fuse at an accelerated rate.
This thrilled him, and he became completely absorbed in the moment. Their bodies pressed closer and closer.
He could even feel the soft beat of Huang Xiaoman’s heart.
Before he knew it, Huang Xiaoman had gracefully danced him into the bedroom.
Su Xi was still lost in the joy of his Super Flexibility Talent rapidly fusing with his body. By the time his head cleared, there was no turning back.
He couldn’t hold back anymore either.
...
"Hey, Jack, you didn’t come back to the dorm last night. Where’d you go?"
Carmeron Anthony shouted to Su Xi from the next seat, "Bill Daffy and I waited for you until the early morning."
Su Xi gave an awkward laugh.
Carmeron saw Su Xi toying with his fingers and let out a shriek. "Oh my god, Jack! You can actually bend your fingers back to touch your arm? Your flexibility is insane!"
To be honest, Su Xi hadn’t expected it either.
When he woke up this morning, he discovered that the Super Flexibility Talent inside him had reached 93% fusion.
Then, he found that his body had become incredibly supple and resilient. It wasn’t just that his fingers could bend into unbelievable positions; his body... every single ligament had been strengthened to an unprecedented degree. His control over his body had reached a whole new level.
You could say that Su Xi was now the most supple and resilient player in the entire NCAA.
Even in the NBA, it would be hard to find anyone more flexible. The length and flexibility of his various ligaments alone would far surpass others.
He had obtained his Super Flexibility Talent from a woman.
This was his unique ’physiological advantage’.
Now, the most direct change for Su Xi was that when he palmed a basketball, his fingers clung to it like suction cups. No matter how he shook his hand, he couldn’t shake it loose. Su Xi had been able to palm a ball before, but...
...it had never felt like this.
Because Su Xi’s strength was now immense—at the NCAA level, you couldn’t find a guard stronger than him, though there were surely many in the NBA. Add to that his unique flexibility. You could say he was both powerful and pliant. The hard parts were harder, and the soft parts were softer.
"It’s nothing," Su Xi said with a smile, casually bending over. His wrists easily extended beyond his feet.
Carmeron Anthony’s jaw dropped.
Su Xi had given him quite a shock.
"Jack, you’re full of surprises. You’re so flexible, you could be a ballet dancer!" Carmeron Anthony said with exaggeration. "Someone as limber as you can probably unlock a ton of positions in the bedroom. Whoever becomes your girlfriend is one lucky girl..."
AHEM, AHEM.
Su Xi coughed sharply.
He was mortified.
’He suspected Anthony had planted a camera on him. ’Damn it, how does he know?’’
"No wonder Jessica Alba likes you. Soft, hard, and strong... and handsome too... Who wouldn’t be smitten..."
Carmeron Anthony muttered under his breath.
Su Xi blushed crimson and pretended not to hear. He was still an innocent little boy... no, an innocent man. After all, he wasn’t ’little’ in any respect.
The plane took off, their destination Louisiana. This year’s national championship Final Four was being held in the Super Dome Arena in New Orleans, a massive stadium with a capacity of 65,000 fans.
"Jack, Bill Daffy wants to sign you. He wants to manage your entry into the NBA. I think with his help, we could stay on the same team. A package deal!"
Carmeron Anthony said to Su Xi once the plane had leveled off.
"I already have an agent," Su Xi said. "But..."
Before Su Xi could finish, Carmeron Anthony shrieked, "What? When did you get an agent?"
"Last night," Su Xi said. "However, my agent isn’t very professional yet. I can still talk to Bill Daffy and explore some business collaborations with him."
"Then why not just go with Bill Daffy directly?" Anthony asked, confused.
"No reason. I just chose her," Su Xi said.
Her?
Anthony was baffled. Who was ’her’? Did he hire a female agent from Hollywood?
A little while later, Coach Jim Boham came over and handed Su Xi and Anthony two packets of information.
Su Xi’s packet was a detailed breakdown of the Longhorns Team’s tactics and TJ Ford’s technical style... It had been prepared with the help of an NBA video analyst. It included details like how many times TJ Ford would dribble, which direction he preferred to drive from, and what kind of plays he would run from specific positions... everything was meticulously detailed.
Su Xi was stunned as he read through it.
’So this is NBA-level prep work? A player has nowhere to hide. No wonder so many NCAA super-geniuses hit the rookie wall in the NBA. They’re completely dissected.’
’In that case... do the Longhorns have a file on me too?’
