The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 466 - 467: The Frightened Son-in-Law from Orienta
"What is that expression on your face? Do you regret it now? You just said that you’re willing to have as many children as I give birth to."
Adrian remained silent.
"I’m 25 years old. I can keep having babies until I’m 40. Having ten or so wouldn’t be a problem." She counted on her fingers. "If I have that many, we could form a football team."
"When you’re 40, I’ll be almost 50!"
"Didn’t you say you Abyanabad people are strong? That even when you’re 70 or 80, you still... want to..." She paused, then said hesitantly, "You know..."
Sienna Johnson patted him on the shoulder and said with conviction, "Husband, I believe in your ability!"
He’d dug his own grave!
Adrian Desmond’s expression grew even more conflicted. His lips pursed tightly as he regretted how he’d fallen for this woman’s trick and said things he didn’t mean.
"Alright, alright, don’t worry. I’ll have at most three," Sienna said.
Seeing him so distressed, she couldn’t bear it and shared her true thoughts. Adrian Desmond glanced at her and finally smiled.
"Really?"
"Fool!"
"You’re the fool!"
Without realizing how far they had walked, the two happened upon a food street in the Old Town District. The street had been developed into a renowned tourist route, lined with stalls selling various specialty foods. Sienna Johnson used to come here often with her classmates when she was in school.
"Let me take you for something tasty," she said.
Sienna Johnson grabbed Adrian Desmond’s hand, and they walked across the crosswalk to the entrance of the old street. Standing at the entrance and looking in, they saw it was quite crowded.
"You’re pregnant now. Isn’t it unhygienic to eat these things?" Adrian Desmond said, dampening the mood.
"You eat, I’ll watch."
"I don’t want to eat!"
Adrian Desmond had very little trust in Orienta’s food. In his mind, food from Orienta was akin to poison; eating too much of it would make one sick. Therefore, he had established Cloudscape Manor, where he grew his own vegetables and raised chickens, ducks, and pigs. If anything wasn’t available at Cloudscape Manor, he had it air-freighted from Abroad. He didn’t even drink the local water.
"Coming to Orienta and not trying its unique delicacies means you’ve practically wasted your trip," Sienna retorted.
"Be careful!"
Seeing Sienna Johnson pulling him into the crowd, Adrian Desmond was terrified and quickly pulled her into his embrace.
"I’m taking you to eat hairy eggs. I bet you’ve never had them before."
Sienna Johnson was full of enthusiasm, like a child who had just gotten a new toy and was eager to show it off to a companion.
They arrived at a stall selling hairy eggs. Sienna Johnson pointed to the brown eggs and said to Adrian Desmond, "These are hairy eggs. I bet you haven’t tried them."
Adrian Desmond glanced down; they looked like ordinary hard-boiled eggs. "Aren’t these just eggs?" he said dismissively. "Who hasn’t eaten eggs?"
Sienna Johnson smiled mysteriously. "Who said they’re eggs?"
"Boss Lady, two hairy eggs, please. Thank you!" Sienna Johnson said, taking out some money and handing it to the Boss Lady.
The Boss Lady looked at Adrian Desmond with an admiring smile. "Young lady, is this your husband?" she asked Sienna.
Sienna Johnson nodded.
The Boss Lady continued, "Your husband is really handsome, even better looking than those TV stars... He isn’t an actual celebrity, is he? If he is, let me take a photo and get an autograph. I can hang it in the shop; it’d be great for business!"
Sienna Johnson laughed too. "He’s just an ordinary person."
Sienna Johnson took out a hairy egg and handed it to Adrian Desmond. "Here, eat it. It’s very nutritious."
Adrian Desmond took it and peeled off the eggshell. Feeling a fluffy texture in his hand, he looked down and was stunned. This wasn’t an egg at all; it was clearly a chick, one that wasn’t even fully developed.
Adrian Desmond said to the Boss Lady, "This egg is bad. It’s not an egg inside, but a small chick."
An old man nearby heard him and burst out laughing. "Young man, that’s a hairy egg. That’s what they’re like. We locals all love hairy eggs; they’re very nourishing."
With that, the Old Master also bought two hairy eggs, peeled them, and ate them—feathers, bones, and all. Adrian Desmond felt his stomach churn.
Sienna Johnson, however, urged him from the side, "Eat it! Hurry up and eat! It tastes great. Just try it, I’m not tricking you."
"Then why aren’t you eating one?"
"I want to, but I’m pregnant."
Adrian Desmond frowned and said reluctantly, "Can I... not eat it?"
Sienna Johnson’s expression turned cold, and she said firmly, leaving no room for refusal, "No!"
The Boss Lady also chimed in, "Young man, you’re not from around here, are you?"
Sienna Johnson explained, "He’s a foreigner!"
"No wonder! Young man, you’re now our Orienta’s son-in-law, so you should follow local customs. These hairy eggs are a must-try. Everyone in our Sileria City eats them; they’re very nourishing..."
Everyone buying hairy eggs was now looking at Adrian Desmond, and the pressure was immense. He glanced at Sienna Johnson, whose eyes were clearly filled with mischievous laughter.
"If I eat it, what reward will you give me?"
"What reward do you want?"
"I won’t make it difficult for you. How about a kiss?"
Before Sienna Johnson could answer, someone in the crowd chimed in, "Brother, how is one kiss enough? It should be at least ten or twenty!"
Adrian Desmond looked at the hairy egg in his hand. He’d even eaten scorpions before, he thought. What’s the big deal about an underdeveloped chick? It’s just that eating it with the feathers seems really unpleasant.
In the end, Adrian Desmond ate it all—feathers and soft bones included. When he finished, Sienna Johnson handed him some water, and he gulped down a large mouthful.
"How did it taste?"
"Just like an egg!"
"Come on, I’ll take you to eat hairy tofu..." Sienna said.
Although it was called "hairy tofu," Adrian Desmond wouldn’t be so presumptuous as to think it was just tofu this time, just as "hairy eggs" weren’t really "eggs." Sure enough, hairy tofu was tofu covered in white fuzz. The hairy tofu was fried in oil and served with seasonings like chili sauce.
With an expression of someone facing death bravely, Adrian Desmond picked up a piece with his chopsticks. Sienna Johnson rested her chin on her hands, her eyes crinkling with a smile.
"Go on, eat. Don’t stop," Sienna urged.
"If I ever have a son, when he grows up, I’ll definitely tell him: never marry a foreign wife!" Especially not an Orientan woman, he thought. Orientan eating habits are too terrifying! He’d never encountered anything Orientans wouldn’t eat.
"Mr. Desmond, are you subtly telling me you regret marrying me?" Sienna Johnson asked, looking at him with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.
Adrian Desmond didn’t dare hesitate any longer. Resigned to his fate, he swallowed a mouthful of hairy tofu... 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Later, Sienna Johnson dragged Adrian Desmond around to try various other unbelievable foods. One of them was even more horrifying than hairy eggs: century eggs...
When Adrian Desmond ate the century eggs, he felt like he was chewing on shoe leather. That taste... Adrian Desmond never wanted to experience it again for the rest of his life.
Orientan people... so terrifying!
