The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 677 - 718: Provided a Little Tadpole
Adrian took offense at this.
How could she completely deny his contribution?
"Of course I’m his favorite," Sienna said, not in the least bit modest. "I carried him for ten months, and it was so hard to bring him into the world. You didn’t contribute anything."
"How can you say I made no contribution? Without me, how would you have become pregnant? Do you think you’re the Virgin Maria, able to conceive on your own?"
Sienna glared at him and said disdainfully, "You just provided a little tadpole, didn’t you? After that, you had nothing more to do with it."
"Sienna, you just can’t seem to shake that habit of being ungrateful! Fine, I won’t stoop to arguing with a woman like you. However, I still have to remind you that without my tadpole, you wouldn’t have been able to conceive!"
"Sixth Master is so impressive. Out of hundreds of millions of tadpoles, only one made me pregnant."
"Isn’t one enough? How many do you want to carry?"
"Triplets or quadruplets. That way, I could be pregnant fewer times..."
Adrian was almost scared off by this woman who seemed obsessed with having children.
"Triplets, quadruplets? Why not just say you want ten babies at once?"
"Having ten at once would be too hard, and it’s dangerous. Even if the children were born, the survival rate would be low. I don’t want my child to face life and death as soon as they’re born."
In terms of childbirth, Abyanabad and Orienta were similar; both believed that more children meant more blessings. However, Adrian thought two kids, a boy and a girl, were perfect. He didn’t want too many children. Sienna only had so much love to give; if it was divided among so many, there’d be none left for him. Wasn’t this just creating romantic rivals for himself?
"Today, I want to go to the bird’s nest processing plant. You will accompany me."
Sienna suddenly changed the subject. Adrian glanced at Sienna and demurred, "I have things to deal with today. I’ll have Brett and Walter accompany you."
"No, I want you to accompany me."
Sienna wasn’t usually a clingy woman. Her unusual behavior today clearly stemmed from her worry that he might impulsively go and confront Night Owl. In his anger earlier, he had indeed wanted to go to Death Island to settle accounts. But now that he had calmed down, he recognized the foolishness of such a suicidal act.
He had only managed to eliminate Night Owl and his son back then because he had gained their trust and attacked when they least expected it.
Now, Night Owl was wary of him. Death Island had developed considerably over the years, and he had no idea what it had become. If he went rashly, he might be killed by Night Owl before he even had a chance to strike.
"Don’t worry, I won’t act rashly until I’m sure..."
Sienna let out a long sigh of relief and apologized again, "I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have lost my temper with you. I’ll control my emotions from now on."
"No need!"
It was said that bottling up emotions could lead to illness, so it was better to vent them. Besides, he was a magnanimous man, not so petty as to hold a grudge against a woman over such things.
"We both need to calm down and think long-term," Sienna said tactfully. There were many things she couldn’t tell Adrian directly, but she believed he understood.
"Mm."
...
「Three days later,」
Aaron Faber successfully designed a signal blocker. The blocker was also an anklet, platinum in style, which Adrian personally fastened on her.
"With this, Night Owl really can’t listen in, right?" Sienna asked skeptically, shaking her two anklets together, which made a crisp metallic sound as they collided.
She knew how powerful that device was; could a small blocker truly solve the problem?
"If you don’t believe it, let’s test it."
Aaron took out a device, turned it on, and Sienna heard a crackling, electrical sound.
"What is this doing?" Samara squatted beside Aaron, looking curiously at the strange device.
Aaron hadn’t intended to explain. But when the girl he admired asked, his heart leaped with joy. Eager to impress Samara and win her affection, he launched into a verbose and elaborate explanation, filled with professional jargon.
Unfortunately, Samara couldn’t understand at all. Her proficiency in the Amwan language was limited to basic daily conversation, so she certainly couldn’t comprehend the barrage of technical terms Aaron was using in Amwan.
Adrian interrupted the man, who was clearly eager to show off, and asked, "Can it be blocked?"
"Of course. Who do you think designed it?" Aaron stole a glance at Samara, who was watching with wide, bewildered eyes. He felt a surge of pride but outwardly maintained a mature and composed demeanor.
"However, there’s one drawback," said Aaron.
"What’s the drawback?"
"While the other party can’t receive any signals, your mobile phone and other communication devices also won’t be able to receive any messages."
Samara asked, "What should we do? I need to call my sister. Will I not be able to get through anymore?"
This was indeed a vexing problem. Sienna was a businesswoman; how could she possibly not take calls?
"Then let’s remove it. I have to hold a video conference every week and communicate with Vivian Abbey many times a day for business. If all communication devices are unusable, how can I work?"
"Well..." Aaron’s mind momentarily went blank, and he didn’t know how to solve this problem. Sienna let out a sigh, about to remove the device, when Samara suddenly said, "Can’t you just block the signal from this anklet and not block the others?"
Everyone else thought it was impossible. But Aaron suddenly had an idea. He snapped his fingers. "Samara, you’re brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that? Theoretically, I can just reduce the blocker’s strength to only interfere with this anklet’s signal transmission and reception!"
"Can it be done?" Sienna asked.
Adrian stroked his chin and asked cautiously, "But didn’t you say it could explode? Can they detonate it remotely?"
Aaron explained, "Even if they can remotely control its detonation, I’ve blocked all signals. How could they control it then?"
"So, as long as I wear the blocker you gave me, there’s no danger for now, right?" Sienna asked.
"Yes, Madam. Rest assured, as long as you don’t remove the blocker, you’ll be safe for now."
Sienna let out a sigh of relief. Ever since she learned the anklet could be used for eavesdropping, she hadn’t dared to speak freely, terrified of revealing something to Night Owl.
Now, finally, she could speak her mind.
"Theoretically, yes," Aaron said cautiously. "But I’ll need to go back and run some tests. I can’t guarantee success yet."
Samara encouraged him from the side, "Uncle Aaron, you’re so clever! I’m sure you’ll succeed."
Aaron felt light-headed, as if he were floating, his heart soaring with happiness. He desperately wanted to take Samara’s face in his hands and shower her with kisses. He indulged in the fantasy for a moment before reining himself in.
