The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 685 - 726: Discussion
Adrian Desmond tightly hugged Sienna Johnson, his strong chest pressed against her back, savoring this blissful moment.
"Huh, why did it stop moving?"
"You think he’s a robot? He gets tired too. Usually, he only plays for about ten minutes before stopping. He really indulged you today."
The child played for a while longer, then, tired out, finally quieted down.
"Son, don’t sleep yet. Play with Daddy for a little while before you sleep."
Adrian hadn’t had his fill of playing, but no matter how he caressed Sienna’s belly, the little baby simply ignored him.
"Alright, don’t bother him anymore. He’s tired from playing and needs to sleep." Sienna gently pushed Adrian’s hand away, looking at him with an amused smile; this man sometimes acted just like a child.
"He’s certainly energetic. He was actually ’boxing’ for a full half hour," Adrian said, his expression full of fatherly pride.
"Yes, he did play for a much longer time than usual today."
Perhaps it was because both his parents were playing with him, but this time, he had been active for a full half hour before settling down. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Sienna had just finished her exercise and then played with the baby for half an hour; she was beginning to feel quite weary.
She yawned and said to Adrian, "I’m a little tired. I’m going back to the room to sleep."
"Sleep here. I want to watch you," he said, taking her hand, not wanting her to leave.
"You’ll watch me? And not work?"
"I have two eyes!"
"Sixth Master, is this your attempt at dry humor?"
Sienna was genuinely exhausted. She got up and walked over to the sofa. It was large, and she only intended to rest for a bit. Besides, she was so tired she didn’t want to move another inch, so she didn’t return to her room.
"Go on, sleep. I’ll wake you when it’s time for dinner."
Sienna lay down, and Adrian fetched a thin blanket to cover her. She playfully asked for a goodnight kiss, then closed her eyes and was asleep within seconds.
Adrian rose and returned to his work. His business had been struggling recently.
A batch of weapons worth several million had been stolen. The financial loss itself wasn’t the primary concern; the critical issue was that he’d nearly been unable to make the delivery to his client. Fortunately, he had managed to reroute another shipment to cover the emergency.
Currently, in all of Southeast Agaia, no one dared to rob his shipments—except for Night Owl.
Adrian’s gaze, heavy with thought, rested on the woman sleeping soundly on the sofa. His eyes drifted down to her ankles, where she wore two anklets. One of them, Night Owl himself had fastened there.
The mere thought made Adrian want to kill Night Owl.
He wasn’t surprised at all that Night Owl would fall for Sienna. Men like them had encountered countless beautiful women; ordinary women no longer held any allure. When he first rescued Sienna from the sea, it was indeed her beauty that had caught his attention. He’d even initially considered giving her to one of his subordinates. However, the moment he saw the look in her eyes, Adrian had been utterly captivated.
She tried her best to hide her true nature, wanting to project an image of weakness. But she didn’t realize some things simply couldn’t be concealed.
Sienna possessed a certain charisma that attracted powerful men!
Lucas Robertson knocked on the study door. Upon entering, he saw Sienna sleeping on the sofa, nodded to Adrian, and was about to withdraw.
Adrian said, "Wait, I have something to say to you."
Adrian got up, walked over to Sienna, and gently pulled the blanket up higher to cover her properly. Then, he stepped out of the study.
Lucas was loyal to Sienna and usually had little interaction with Adrian. So, when Adrian stopped him, clearly intending to ask him something, Lucas felt a flicker of curiosity.
Once outside the study, Adrian glanced at Sienna sleeping on the sofa and softly closed the door.
"Come with me!"
"Hmm."
The two entered a room across the hall. It was a large reception hall where Adrian met with important guests.
The reception hall, designed in a European style, spanned over two hundred square meters. The design was simple yet grand, a style Adrian had always appreciated.
A long table could accommodate fifty to sixty people. The most striking features were several famous paintings adorning the walls. These were the works of Eimo, a renowned Southeast Agaian artist. There were four such paintings in total, priceless and considered his final masterpieces, as Eimo was deceased.
"Sit!"
Adrian sat at the head of the table. He took a cigar case from his pocket and placed a cigar in his mouth. He clicked his lighter, bringing a flame to life, but then, as if a thought struck him, he didn’t light the cigar. Instead, he just held it in his mouth, idly playing with the lighter.
"Want a smoke?"
"My wife is pregnant. I don’t smoke!"
Adrian chuckled. "You’re not even married yet, are you? Calling her your wife already seems a bit premature."
"Married or not, she’s my wife!" Lucas retorted, his face an emotionless mask. If not for his open eyes, one might have mistaken him for a corpse.
"That’s not a certainty," Adrian drawled, his tone laced with old resentment and a hint of malicious anticipation. He had never forgiven Lucas for helping Sienna escape all those years ago. "Kiki has been by Sienna’s side for so many years. Who’s to say she won’t pick up some of Sienna’s less desirable traits and decide to leave? If she runs off and stays away for a few years, your son would likely be quite grown by then..."
Lucas replied coldly, "Sixth Master, are you perhaps talking about yourself?"
The lighter Adrian had been toying with slipped from his hand, CLATTERING onto the tabletop. Adrian’s sharp, fierce gaze shot towards Lucas, but Lucas’s expression remained unchanged.
"What do you want from me?" Lucas asked, clearly in no mood for small talk, cutting straight to the chase.
"What has Sienna had you investigating recently?"
"I’m Sienna’s man!"
"So what?"
Just as difficult as Sienna, Adrian thought. Truly her man. Aloud, he said, "If she’s asked you to investigate Night Owl, stop immediately! Night Owl is not someone you can handle!"
Lucas stood up and started to leave.
Lucas’s brazenly arrogant demeanor infuriated Adrian, but for Sienna’s sake, he still advised, "I once assigned twenty bodyguards to protect Sienna, and Night Owl brutally murdered every single one of them! I even dispatched a team to Death Island, only for them to be returned as nothing but a pile of bones...
"I haven’t told Sienna about any of this, so she’s unaware of the true danger. That’s why she’s asking you to take such a risk.
"Death Island is a horrifying place. I spent eight years there, an existence I can only describe as hellish... I have no idea what Death Island has become by now... I recently received intelligence that a General from the Viadencro Military was assassinated by a killer dispatched from Death Island..."
"Sixth Master, are you afraid now?"
"Yes, I am. Very afraid."
Lucas snorted, his disdain unconcealed.
Adrian didn’t get angry. "It’s one thing for an enemy to target you; that’s not what’s truly frightening. What’s terrifying is when they target the ones you love most—like your Kiki, or your unborn son..."
