The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 690 - 731: Break the Cauldrons and Sink the Boats - Self-Destruction (2)
"...How much longer do I have to wait?
You don’t know how cruel and weird that damned old hag is; she bullies me all day.
The Sultan doesn’t love her. He never visits her room. I don’t know whether she has a hormonal imbalance or if she’s psychologically twisted. Just because Kiya loves me, she’s jealous and bullies me all day long...
What on earth is she thinking? If Kiya and I are unhappy, does that make her happy?
Fortunately, I don’t love Kiya at all..."
The Queen’s noble mask cracked. She revealed a ferocious expression, furious enough to want to tear Paige Desmond to shreds.
She had always known that woman was no good, but she never expected her to commit so many shameless and vicious acts.
The Queen could no longer bear it!
"On behalf of Abyanabad, I have decided: Paige Desmond and Dylan are forever banished from Abyanabad, and they are never to set foot in our land again!" the Queen declared loudly before the many members of the media.
In Abyanabad, elders could decide the marriages of the younger generation.
It was just as Adrian Desmond’s parents and uncle had previously arranged his marriage to Melanie Carpenter.
A reporter continued to ask, "Does the Queen mean that she wants Prince Kiya to divorce the Princess Consort?"
"Yes!"
It was impossible to stop things from developing to this point.
Regardless of the truth, the Queen’s words had already asserted that the Princess Consort had cheated and that Prince Dylan was not of royal blood.
The Sultan had his own motives. The King of Pelindi had always held a grudge against Kiya and the Princess Consort, especially because of Dylan’s existence. Now that the Princess Consort and Dylan were banished from Abyanabad, it would significantly strengthen relations between Abyanabad and Pelindi.
Women? As the future Sultan, how could Kiya lack women?
A son? If he had women, how could he not have a son?
"Go, fetch the Chief Judge. Tell him to draft the divorce papers!" the Queen ordered a maid.
"Yes!"
Today was the Prince’s engagement. The Chief Judge’s family was also present, and the Chief Judge himself was in the crowd.
Hearing that the Queen was looking for him, the silver-haired Chief Judge came forward voluntarily.
"Your Majesty the Sultan, Your Majesty the Queen, Your Highness Prince Kiya..." the Chief Judge said as he approached them, bowing in greeting.
"Chief Judge, draft a divorce certificate immediately. Prince Kiya is to divorce the Princess Consort; they shall have no further connection from this day forward," the Queen commanded.
Although tradition in Abyanabad allowed parents to decide their son’s marriage, the Chief Judge, as the representative of Abyanabad’s supreme law, could not violate the law in front of so many members of the media. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
According to the law, marriage is a personal freedom, and no one is allowed to interfere.
"Your Majesty," the Chief Judge began, "according to Abyanabad’s marriage law, a divorce requires the consent of both parties. Of course, if one party has committed a grievous fault, the other party may sue for divorce. The Princess Consort engaged in an extramarital affair and muddled the royal bloodline. This is a grave fault. If Prince Kiya files for divorce, the Court can rule in favor of it."
The Chief Judge cited Abyanabad’s laws and did not yield to the Queen’s authority.
"Kiya, tell the Chief Judge you want to divorce Paige Desmond!" the Queen demanded, her words effectively stripping Paige Desmond of her title as Princess Consort.
Kiya remained silent, a stark contrast to the eloquent and articulate man he had been just moments before.
"Kiya, why aren’t you speaking?"
"..."
"It’s come to this, and you still can’t bear to part with her?" the Queen roared in fury at her son, completely forgetting this was a press conference.
The Sultan intervened, "Queen, this is a press conference. Please be mindful of your image!"
The Queen glared at the Sultan but finally forced herself to calm down.
The Royal Family had already lost face; she had to preserve what little dignity remained for them.
For a moment, an exceptional silence fell over the press conference. Everyone looked at Kiya, waiting for his decision.
Every word Paige Desmond had supposedly uttered was like a knife twisting in Kiya’s heart.
He didn’t believe it; he wouldn’t believe a single word. It was all false, fabricated by that reporter!
"Kiya, where are you going?" the Queen cried out as Kiya suddenly moved.
The crowd had expected an enraged Prince to furiously announce a divorce from his unfaithful wife. Instead, they saw the Prince, having lost his composure, step down from the stage and stride towards the reporter who had played the recording.
"What is Prince Kiya trying to do?"
"He’s probably going to beat up that reporter."
"Impossible! Prince Kiya is a very gentle man. I’ve never even seen him lose his temper."
"Well, how would you react if this happened to you? Put yourself in his shoes!"
"Kiya, what do you think you’re doing?" the Queen shouted.
Yes, he was going to beat someone up. He was going to beat the hell out of that slanderous reporter.
His Princess Consort cheating?
Dylan not his child?
Have those people lost their minds? How could Dylan possibly not be his son?
Sensing trouble, the reporter tried to slip away but was intercepted by Kiya.
"Your Highness Prince Kiya, what are you doing?" the reporter stammered.
"Beat you to death!"
Kiya grabbed the reporter and began to beat him savagely. Camera flashes flickered incessantly, capturing every moment. The Prince’s carefully maintained, gentle and refined image was utterly shattered.
"Bastard! Who the hell are you? Why are you slandering my Princess Consort?" Kiya snarled. After just a few punches, the reporter’s face was already bruised and swollen.
Kiya appeared gentle and scholarly, but he also knew martial arts. Because he had never resorted to violence before, no one knew he possessed such skills.
"I’m telling the truth!" the reporter cried, not daring to fight back. He could only cover his head and endure Kiya’s pummelling.
"You still won’t talk? Do you think I won’t beat you to death?" Kiya raged.
"Beat me to death if you want, I haven’t lied!" the reporter insisted.
The reporter’s unyielding defiance further convinced the onlookers that the Princess Consort had indeed cheated. Otherwise, who could possess such confidence when facing the furious Prince Kiya?
"Fine, then I’ll beat you to death!"
Kiya seemed to have completely lost control, his eyes bloodshot as he rained punch after punch on the reporter. The man’s glasses shattered, his face quickly becoming a bloody mess. The scene descended into chaos.
The Sultan, also stunned by his son’s actions, took a moment to react before shouting for him to be stopped.
"What are you all standing there for? Stop the Prince!" the Sultan ordered the Royal Guard.
The Royal Guard surged forward, pulling the Prince away from the reporter. The Queen, alongside the Sultan, tried to restore order and had men escort their son away.
A reporter, braving the volatile situation, shouted, "Your Highness Prince Kiya, will you divorce the Princess Consort?"
Kiya glared at that reporter and declared resolutely, "I will not divorce her! I will never divorce her!"
"..."
"Paige Desmond, I know this is all your doing!" Kiya then seemed to address the air, or perhaps Paige herself, "Listen to me carefully. No matter what tricks you pull, I will never divorce you!"
They had been together for so many years; he refused to believe she was that kind of malicious woman.
If he didn’t even have this much trust in her, he wasn’t worthy of claiming to love her.
He then shouted for all to hear, "My Princess Consort did not cheat! Dylan IS my son! My son, Kiya’s son!"
