The Billionaire CEO Wants to Marry Me Every Day-Chapter 688: Unrequited Love
Mio Osborne’s home.
Mrs. Osborne noticed that the two of them hadn’t returned after buying a bottle of ketchup and couldn’t help but feel worried.
"I hope nothing happened. I should call to check on them."
"What are you thinking? Get a grip." Mrs. Woodward laughed and said, "Young people these days don’t like eating at home. Maybe they just stumbled upon a restaurant they like while they were out. Let’s not bother about them, we’ll eat on our own."
Hearing this, Mrs. Osborne quickly put down her phone.
"You’re right, I almost interrupted them."
...
Summer Monroe and her group soon arrived at their destination.
When Mio Osborne walked into Summer Monroe’s home and saw the simple decor, the displeasure in his heart began to ease a little.
"Holly, could you pour some tea for Professor Osborne and them? I’m going to prepare the vegetables."
"Sure." Holly Holloway mustered up the courage to pour the water.
Claire Woodward took a sip and then stood up, saying, "You are guests too, you don’t need to help out. I know how to cook; I’ll go help Summer."
She spoke and walked towards the kitchen.
The kitchen was very small, and Claire was used to an open kitchen at home, so walking in felt like the air got cramped.
Claire suppressed her discomfort and stepped forward, saying, "Summer, let me help you wash the vegetables."
"No need, you’re a guest, go sit down."
"It’s fine, I’m used to being busy at the hospital and can’t sit still."
Claire was enthusiastic, so Summer couldn’t refuse and had to say, "Then you can help me wash the bok choy."
"Sure." Claire immediately got to work.
Halfway through washing the vegetables, Claire glanced at Summer out of the corner of her eye and brought up what shouldn’t be mentioned, asking with great concern, "Summer, living alone after being kicked out by your family must be tough, right?"
Summer’s hand paused, and the kindness in her eyes faded. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Her keen awareness allowed her to realize that Claire was not as easygoing as she seemed on the surface.
She said flatly, "It’s not tough."
Claire lowered her eyes with a smile and said, "Going from a pampered young lady to living alone in a place like this, how could it not be tough? Don’t put on a brave face, if you ever encounter difficulties, you can come to me or Professor Osborne."
"Thank you." Summer’s voice became calmer.
Claire continued, "Actually, you all misunderstood. Today is the first time I’ve met Professor Osborne. Our mothers are longtime friends, and I’m just friends with him, so I’m not your teacher’s wife."
"Okay." Summer nodded slightly, not caring about Claire’s relationship with Mio Osborne.
Claire was smart and could tell from Summer’s tone that she had no feelings for Mio Osborne.
So, Mio Osborne has a one-sided love?
She definitely needed to help Mio Osborne.
"By the way." Claire remembered about the pacemaker robots and said, "I haven’t thanked you for donating ten pacemaker robots to our hospital. They’re not cheap, and S Group is quite peculiar, selling things depends on luck. How did you manage to buy them? And in one go, you got ten."
Summer responded while chopping meat, "A friend helped, by chance they know the owner of S Group."
"Really?" Claire glanced at Ronan Kingston sitting outside and asked, "Did the young master of the Kingston Family help you?"
Summer hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "Yes."
"That explains it."
She knew that Summer couldn’t possibly buy ten pacemaker robots by herself; there had to be someone backing her up.
She even suspected that Damian Knight might have helped, but now that she got the answer, she felt much more relieved.
