The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy!-Chapter 747: Where’s Kiara?
Lola tied the sleeping Chacha onto Renny’s big back. Since Chacha wouldn’t wake up no matter what Lola did, she let her daughter lie on her stomach across Renny’s back. She tied her securely so that even if the panther ran, she wouldn’t fall off.
Good thing Chacha often rode on the panther’s back, so Renny was already used to it. Now, she turned to Second, who was still on the bed. Lola picked him up in her arms, then glanced at Renny’s back. If they were conscious, the twins could ride the panther like they used to. But since they weren’t awake, there wasn’t any space left for Second.
"Shit," she breathed out, her eyes landing on Chunchun, the white cat.
Just then, the white cat jumped onto the bed and hopped until it landed smoothly on Chacha’s back. It was as though the cat was telling her not to worry too much about her.
Lola nodded at them, her eyes shifting back to the bed. Yanking the sheet, the pillow fell at the impact, but she didn’t care about tidiness. Using the sheet, she put Second down and tied the ends of it securely. Then, she wore it like a sash, making sure there was plenty of room for her son.
Picking up Second, she positioned him with his head resting on her shoulder, his legs on either side of her, his front pressed against hers. With the makeshift baby carrier for a bigger child, Lola secured her son to make him as stable against her as possible.
The twins were not little children anymore. If anything, they had gained a bit of weight since she came into their lives.
She pulled the sheet over Second’s head, making sure it wouldn’t wobble with her movements. Once she finished, she glanced at Chacha on Renny’s back and checked once more to ensure her daughter was just as secure.
But as she did, alarms blared through the mansion as if it were the end of the world.
Lola paused, glancing up and then at the door. She hadn’t heard this sound before, but she had read that in case the Order was ever under attack again, this emergency bell would alert everyone.
"I guess... this is the emergency sound," she whispered, a little relieved that someone had finally caught on to the situation. Not thinking about anything else, she patted Chacha’s back and looked at Renny. "Chunchun, get in here as well."
She adjusted Chunchun, pulling the blanket over and making the white cat lie securely on Chacha’s back. She covered the cat properly.
"Renny," she breathed out. "Follow me."
With that, Lola rose to her feet with her son wrapped around her. She marched to the closet, tossing clothes aside until the back of it came into view.
One of the things Atlas had told her was that no matter how dangerous the world became, he had taught his children about this escape route. If the worst happened, they were to head straight for this passage, and he would come get them.
Lola knocked on the back of the closet until she heard something hollow. Punching it because she had no patience to figure out how to open it properly, she revealed a lever behind it. It was small, and she pulled it down without hesitation.
The moment she did, she heard a mechanical rattle in the room.
Turning, Lola saw the shelf in the corner shake and click into place. Marching toward it, she noticed the side of the shelf shift slightly. Careful not to hurt her son strapped to her, Lola pushed it aside until a door behind it came into view.
She pushed it farther until there was enough space for her and Renny to enter. Nodding to herself, she stepped into the darkness, and the black panther followed.
The second Lola was inside, she paused at the seemingly endless darkness ahead. Still, she moved forward carefully, her hands stretched out in front of her and brushing the sides. On the fifth step, lights suddenly flooded the path.
She shut her eyes instinctively at the sudden brightness before slowly opening them to see the way ahead. But what caught her attention the most was the weapons stacked along the wall.
"God. I’m glad I spent that entire month studying this place," she murmured, taking a rifle and a few magazines — just in case. With that, she glanced back and nodded.
With her leading, they followed the path.
Atlas had told her about this, and the twins knew this route as well. All she had to do was follow it, and it would lead her outside the mansion.
The path was not consistently wide. Some parts were narrower, others low enough that she had to duck. It was quiet, and every step echoed in the confined space.
But soon, after what felt like forever, Lola was crouching when she spotted a small gate at the end.
As she approached, she prepared her rifle just in case.
The second she saw movement, she raised her weapon, ready to take down anyone who tried to ambush her.
Much to her relief, the people outside were members of the Order. Particularly, those from Izu’s team — the so-called weakest team.
"Madam, it’s us!" one of them called, raising his hand. "Please don’t shoot."
Lola narrowed her eyes, still suspicious. "How many of you are there?"
"Half of us!" the man answered. "Half went to get you and the twins, and the rest followed protocol and came here!"
She studied the man crouching at the exit. She searched his eyes for any deception, unable to trust too quickly. But seeing sincerity — and even shock — in them, she lowered her gun and stepped forward.
The man opened the small gate and moved aside.
As soon as Lola stepped out, she looked around and saw the men waiting outside. "I thought you said half of you are here?"
"Well..." the man’s face twisted slightly. "Half of those who were awake and realized something was wrong."
Meaning, the full force guarding the family wing had already been cut in half before the alarm rang. Only those who managed to stay conscious were split into two groups — some to get the family, the others to follow protocol and secure the exit.
"Is this all of you?" Lola asked, noting that their numbers weren’t even a quarter of the mansion’s total security.
"Others stayed behind to confront the intruders, Madam!" the man reported. "Sir Florida is still inside. We saw him rushing toward the family wing earlier."
Lola swallowed, fully aware that Atlas wasn’t home. None of the Bennets were. Haji, Scarlet, and Chuck were far away. And Izu and the team he formed had left hours ago.
"Kiara." Her breath hitched as her eyes widened. "Where’s Kiara?"
She looked around, only to see the men lowering their heads.
Right then and there, she understood. They were trained to prioritize her and the twins.
"Take care of my children and get them away from here," she ordered. "I’m going back."
