The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy!-Chapter 773: Pray to God
"Lola!"
The loud sound of a body hitting the cell across from Derek echoed through the small holding area. Derek grabbed the metal bars and shouted Lola’s name, his eyes wide as he saw how badly beaten she looked.
"Melissa, have you truly lost your mind!?" he roared, glaring at Melissa, who stood near Lola’s limp body. "Stop! Enough!"
Just minutes ago, Melissa had barged in unannounced. She didn’t say a single word. She simply walked in, then, without warning, kicked Lola and began beating her relentlessly.
"Have I lost my mind?" Melissa repeated as she stepped on the side of Lola’s head, laughing. "Hahaha!"
She laughed and laughed until she hunched over, one hand clutching her head. When she lifted her gaze slightly, she smirked at him.
"Derek, what kind of question is that?" she asked, laughing dryly. "I know you’re stupid, but you’re even more stupid than I thought to ask something like that."
Melissa dropped her hand and looked at him as if he were nothing but a pest. "You... are so pathetic, Derek."
"Melissa..." His heart sank, not because of the insults thrown at him, but because of how much Melissa had changed.
He had known something was wrong when he saw her in his home unannounced. But he denied it out of fear. Now, there was no denying it. She would kill all of them.
Melissa peeled her gaze away from him, as he wasn’t even worthy of her attention. She turned back to Lola’s body on the ground, smirking as she pressed her foot down and twisted it against Lola’s head.
"You’re really stubborn, Lola," she scoffed, noticing Lola’s clenched teeth.
Even while being beaten, Lola hadn’t pleaded. She let out pained sounds, but that was all. And even now, with Melissa’s foot pressing against her head and her hair covering her face in a tangled mess, she remained stubbornly defiant.
"Lola," Melissa pressed harder, her eyes sharp. "You bitch... do you think you’re allowed to live happily after ruining people’s lives?"
"Melissa! Enough!" Derek shouted, but he was completely ignored. He rattled the metal bars, yelling, "Why are you doing this to us!?"
Melissa snickered. "You should ask Lola about that. It was all this evil bitch’s fault. If not for her, my life wouldn’t have turned out the way it did. She drove me to this choice."
"And you know what?" She lifted her foot and struck Lola on the head.
She stomped on Lola’s head even as the latter raised her arm to shield herself. But Melissa didn’t care. She kept stomping, each strike stronger than the last.
"You bitch," Melissa scoffed. "How dare you act like you deserve a good life, huh? We’re already at the bottom, yet you still deceived me, giving back my mother’s properties only for them to be seized later. You have no idea how much I’ve suffered."
All the humiliation she endured. The mockery. The disgusting people she had to deal with. Lola had no idea how much Melissa had suffered. Perhaps Melissa would have been fine if Lola hadn’t tricked her into believing she was returning Loren’s properties.
But no. Lola had made her choice and remained evil until the very end.
Melissa had been left with no choice, almost selling her body just to pay for Lawrence’s medical expenses.
"But I guess things happen for a reason." She finally stopped, panting. Running her fingers through her hair, she smirked. "Because if you hadn’t driven me to the edge, I wouldn’t have found my calling."
Lola, her only functioning arm aching from the beating, slowly lowered it. She peeked through the strands of hair covering her face and looked at Melissa.
"It’s all your fault, Lola," Melissa breathed, staring at her without blinking. "And now that I’ve gained the ability to kill you, I will make you regret everything you’ve done."
To Melissa’s surprise, Lola laughed.
"Melissa," Lola brushed her hair away from her face, unbothered by the blood seeping from her forehead. "Even now, you still can’t see it, can you?"
Melissa frowned, her hands curling into tight fists.
"Until now, you blame everyone else and never once point at yourself," Lola continued with a ridiculing laugh. "You think I have no idea how much you’ve suffered? I know, and I still believe you got off with a light punishment."
Lola’s laughter came in waves, like that of a madwoman. Even Derek, who had been pleading for her, felt a chill crawl down his spine as the hairs on his neck stood on end. If someone listened without context, they might wonder who the real villain was.
After all, Lola’s laughter sounded like it came straight from hell.
"Lola..." Derek called, fearing she had lost her sanity too.
His breath hitched when he saw the fury rising on Melissa’s face. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"You bitch," Melissa scoffed, lifting her foot once more—this time aiming to crush Lola’s face. She didn’t care if she had been told not to harm her. Right now, all she could think about was how Lola had ruined her life.
If not for Lola, she wouldn’t have been driven into this situation. Though the outcome had been better than selling her body in disgust, she still couldn’t let Lola live—not even for a second.
As she brought her foot down, Melissa froze.
It stopped just inches before impact.
Her pupils constricted when she saw the madness plastered across Lola’s face. Lola looked at her directly, the corners of her mouth curling into a sickening smirk.
Melissa tried to force her foot down, but Lola grabbed the sole of her boot with terrifying strength.
How could she still have this much power?
Melissa panicked inwardly as her foot trembled against Lola’s grip. Despite the bruises and blood, Lola held on as if it were effortless.
Wasn’t she supposed to be paralyzed?
Half of Lola’s body was paralyzed—and from what Melissa heard, one of her arms too. But now that she thought about it, Lola had been shielding herself earlier using only one arm.
"Melissa," Lola said through gritted teeth, "since you’re already in this world, then I’ll deal with you the same way I deal with people in this line of work."
Her smirk stretched wider.
"Pray to God that whatever drug is in me right now doesn’t wear off... and that no antidote reaches me. Because once it does, I will come for you—even if I have to drag myself through the depths of the nine hells."
