The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy!-Chapter 805: Don’t Make Them Lose Their Mother Too
Meanwhile...
"Hah... hahaha!"
Vito laughed maniacally as he slowly rose to his feet, blood covering all of his face and body.
"You bitch," he breathed out, grabbing Farah’s hair before lifting it. "You think you can cross Vito without paying for it?! HAHAHA!" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Held in the air was Farah’s head, which he had severed so savagely and without mercy. She had given him a hard time, but in the end, Vito still stood victorious — even though his men all fell because of Farah.
"HAHAHA!" he laughed and laughed, flinging Farah’s head while still gripping her hair, until he heard a loud explosion from somewhere.
His laughter stopped at once. He turned his head, seeing that the building near him had collapsed.
"Oh, shit—" his breath hitched as his eyes dilated, and before he could take a step, the building just several meters away from where he was standing exploded.
BOOM!
*****
BOOM!
The explosion sent Lola and Izu flying forward, even though they had already sprinted as fast as they could and managed to create more distance from it. The impact was just too strong, even from that distance.
"Ugh..." Lola grunted as she rolled on the ground violently, hurting herself more than anything.
She felt the heat wave, even scalding her skin, the thick smoke, and the harsh wind caused by something. Her ears still rang violently. She propped her arm against the ground, pushing herself up.
When she lifted her head, she saw Izu lying far from her.
"I — Izu!" she shouted, her voice fading with the following explosion from the distance. "Izu!"
Izu, who was lying motionless, had his brows knit. Pain and heat pulled him painfully back to consciousness; his hand twitched.
Seeing him move, Lola let out a shallow breath. Then he also began pushing himself up.
"Good thing he’s okay," she muttered, gazing down at her leg. She winced as part of her pants seemed to have gotten burned. Good thing she changed earlier into their special gear that was also fire-resistant. Hence, she was fine aside from being tossed that far.
"Ugh..." she grunted as she forced herself to sit up.
As Lola did, she heard a call from somewhere.
"Lola!"
Lola turned her head, only to see Scarlet running in her direction. In no time, Scarlet reached them and squatted down before her.
Scarlet’s eyes shook as she studied Lola. "Are you alright?"
"Yes," Lola cleared her throat and then turned to Izu again. "He seems fine too."
At this point, Izu managed to prop his arm and lift his body, sighing in relief when he saw Lola and Scarlet.
"That’s... that’s close," he whispered as he turned to the building.
Fire engulfed it as the entire building crumbled upon the explosion, sending some of its bricks flying. One of the stones hit Izu’s leg for sure, as there were parts of the building scattered around the surrounding area and near them.
"Izu, can you walk?" Lola asked, and he nodded.
"I was hit, but I think I can," he shouted back and forced himself up until he was seated. All he needed was a bit of rest, and they could all get out of here.
Seeing that, Lola heaved another sigh of relief and turned to Scarlet.
"We’re fine," she said. "How’s everyone? Haji? Yuri? Kiara? Henrik’s son?"
Scarlet gulped and nodded. "They managed to get out before the explosion. And most of our forces, as well as those from the other founding families."
"I see..." Lola’s shoulders sagged as she reached for Scarlet’s shoulder. Her face softened as relief washed over her. "That’s... that’s good to hear."
Lola sighed in relief as she felt at ease, knowing everyone was safe. But then, when she lifted her head and met Scarlet’s eyes, she saw a strange look flickering in them.
Lola’s brows knitted. "What is it?" she asked. "Scarlet, why are you looking at me like that?"
With that question, Izu turned to the two women and furrowed his brows. He also finally noticed the blank look plastered on Scarlet’s face as she stared at Lola with dread.
"Scarlet," Lola straightened, her eyes scanning Scarlet’s. And before Lola could even process it, the words had already escaped her mouth. "What about Atlas? Is he okay?"
When Scarlet didn’t answer, Lola began to shake her shoulder.
"Answer me now!" Lola shouted at her face. "Scar, is Atlas okay?! Did he get out of there?! Tell me he did! Don’t just look at me like that and—"
Lola abruptly stopped when she heard the quiet, "I’m sorry," slipping past Scarlet’s lips.
"No," she whispered, her eyes constricting. She turned to the burning building that had already crumbled, releasing Scarlet’s shoulder. "No, no, no, no -- Atlas."
Even Izu, who shouldn’t have heard that with the distance he had from them, somehow heard that loud and clear.
"No, no," Lola crawled away, finding the strength to get back on her feet. "Atlas, he can’t — baby..."
Izu winced as he forced himself to his feet, seeing that Lola was going to the point of explosion even while the loud booms were still ongoing.
"Madam!" he shouted, mustering enough strength to follow her. "It’s dangerous!"
He leaped toward Lola, tackling her to the ground just in time as another explosion happened and debris came flying in her direction.
"Madam!"
"Let me go!" Lola shouted as she tried to shrug him off, struggling. "Atlas is still there! I can’t let him — he can’t die! My husband is still there! Don’t stop me!"
Perhaps it was the strength of desperation, or that Izu’s injuries were more serious than he thought. But Lola managed to struggle free and tremble back to her feet, dragging herself toward the explosion as if she could still do something.
She couldn’t think straight anymore, knowing that inside that fire was her husband. No — she simply didn’t want to think about it anymore.
If she did... she would’ve just wished she died in the Order instead of leaving with these people.
"Atlas, baby," she breathed out, dragging her feet, unfazed by the debris still flying in every direction.
A small shard grazed the side of her head, causing it to bleed. But that didn’t stop her from moving, even if it was slow.
"LOLA!" came Scarlet’s shout from behind her, but she didn’t stop. "What about the children?!"
That stopped her.
"What?" Her blank eyes widened, her body freezing in that instant.
Scarlet panted, tears falling from the corners of her eyes. "If you take another step, it might kill you! If it does, what about the twins?! Would you make them lose their mother too?!"
"Children..." tears formed in the corners of Lola’s eyes, and before she knew it, they spilled down her cheeks. "Chacha... Second..."
Her heart clenched as her children’s voices and laughter echoed in her mind. But at the same time, Atlas’s voice echoed along with theirs, calling her name.
Lola.
Lola...
Lola dropped to her knees, staring at the next explosion with wide eyes. Slowly, she clutched her chest as if her heart were going into shock, unable to breathe.
"Ah..." escaped her lips. "Ah..."
Her face twisted as more tears blurred her vision. Her mind blocked any devastating possibility from taking shape.
But her heart bled painfully.
Even when she wanted to scream and cry, all she could do was gasp as tears continued to fall.
Scarlet bit her lips and ran to her, squatting beside Lola. When she did, all she saw was Lola gasping with her mouth open.
Seeing a glimpse of how Lola was beginning to break apart, Scarlet clenched her teeth and embraced her. Her body trembled against Lola’s. Scalet had been here before when she lost her family.
"I’m sorry," Scarlet whispered through gritted teeth, holding Lola as if she would fall apart if she didn’t tighten her hold.
"I’m... really sorry, Madam. But this... are his orders."
