The Billionaire's New Wife in Chief-Chapter 936 - 339: Morbid Longing
The bedroom was filled with silence, so quiet that one could hear sounds from outside. Lu Jingchen lay on the bed, without any reaction, not even moving.
It was unknown what time during the night, An City started to snow gently. Snowflakes fell from the sky, and in just a few hours, the balcony outside the bedroom was already covered in a layer of white snow.
Early the next morning, the man walked out of the bedroom wearing a suit, covered by a black trench coat. His face showed no expression, and he even emanated a cold aura that made people not dare to approach.
Aunt Chen knew that Lu Jingchen woke up very early every day, a habit that started after Madam left.
So, she woke up an hour earlier than usual to prepare breakfast, so the gentleman could eat before heading out.
Although in the past six months, the number of times the gentleman had breakfast at home could be counted on one hand.
Not to mention breakfast, he rarely ate dinner at home, and he never had lunch in the villa.
Seeing Lu Jingchen coming down, Aunt Chen immediately approached him and said, "Sir, I have already prepared breakfast. Please have some before you leave."
After getting drunk last night, Lu Jingchen took a shower and went straight to bed. Even though he drank some hangover tea, he still felt a bit of a headache. Hearing Aunt Chen’s words, he paused, his gaze landing on her. After a dozen seconds of silence, he said, "No need, you eat it."
With that, he walked towards the door, his steps wide and brisk.
Aunt Chen expected this reaction and quickly called a servant to bring a thermal lunch box then hurriedly ran after him and said anxiously, "Sir, your health isn’t good. Skipping breakfast is not right. I’ve packed it in a thermal box for you. You can have it on the road."
Lu Jingchen stopped and looked down at the thermal lunch box in Aunt Chen’s hand. It seemed familiar to him, and after thinking for a bit, he remembered that Song Qiao used to buy it from the supermarket to bring him lunch at the company.
After a moment’s hesitation, Lu Jingchen responded with a simple "hmm," reaching out to accept the thermal box from Aunt Chen before walking out of the villa.
Outside the villa, everything was already a world of ice and snow. There were snowflakes continuously falling from the sky. Assistant Xue had not yet arrived here. Lu Jingchen had just received a call from him, saying that because of the snow, he would need another ten minutes to get here.
The reason for leaving so early rather than staying in the villa was because when he sat quietly, even just sitting there, he couldn’t stand the memories with Song Qiao that would rush to his mind.
Standing outside the villa, Lu Jingchen reached out to catch a snowflake. But the snowflake, upon landing on his hand, quickly melted due to its warmth.
He wondered where Song Qiao was and even more whether it was snowing like in An City where she was.
...
When Song Qiao arrived in Paris it was summer, and now as An City transitioned into winter, Paris too has entered the winter season.
Now, Song Qiao’s belly was already so large that one couldn’t help but worry seeing it. Because she was carrying twins, her belly was bigger than those about to give birth, and seeing that round belly, people felt as if the small lives inside might burst out.
Semi-reclining on the tatami in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, Song Qiao held a fruit plate filled with grapes. Paris had already entered winter, so there were no grapes for sale. These grapes and other fruits in the kitchen cabinet were all brought from elsewhere by Chu Munan’s arrangement.
After getting pregnant, especially as the two little lives inside became more apparent, her appetite grew, but she also became pickier. Her temper rose as well, becoming more troublesome than what Chu Munan and Mu Shinian had known her to be, making her all the more difficult to deal with.
"Madam." A voice from the maid came from behind. Song Qiao turned her head to see the maid approaching her with a blanket in hand, carefully covering her with it and smiling as she said, "Paris is colder in the winter. You need to cover yourself with a blanket; otherwise, if you catch a cold, it won’t be good for the children."
