The Billionaire's Rental Wife Is A Hot Shot-Chapter 27: Drunken Anecdotes
Chapter 27: Drunken Anecdotes
"OMG!" Riya’s scream pierced through the bar, causing customers to glance their way. She turned toward the kitchen and yelled, "Mom! Grace got married! She brought her handsome husband!" ƒгeewebnovёl.com
Evelyn felt her cheeks flush crimson. Whether from Riya’s dramatic announcement or the way Zevian’s hands held her close, her heart raced wildly. She glanced up at him, and his endearingly warm smile sent butterflies dancing in her stomach.
An elderly woman emerged from the kitchen, her face lighting up at the sight of Evelyn.
"Go, prepare their seats in the private room," Bobby instructed her kids. Noting Ryan’s lingering gaze at Zevian, she quickly gestured for Riya to lead him away.
Once her kids walked away, Bobby embraced Evelyn warmly and exchanged a brief but approving nod with Zevian. She was surprised to see Evelyn bring someone other than Avery to this secret hideout of hers, which suggested that this handsome man held a special place in her life.
Evelyn led Zevian to the private lounge area, a charming hut with a thatched roof. Inside, a round table and wooden benches offered an unobstructed view of the ocean, the moonlight dancing on the waves in a serene glow.
They settled side by side on the bench, and Riya, having finished setting the table, flashed them a bright smile. "I’ll get you some drinks!" she said excitedly before darting out.
Zevian’s gaze lingered on Ryan, who seemed to have a crush on Evelyn. With a subtle, protective gesture, he placed his hand on the bench behind Evelyn, who was absorbed in the view of the beautiful shore. Zevian couldn’t help but smile in satisfaction as Ryan scowled before leaving them alone.
"It’s beautiful, isn’t it?" Evelyn murmured with a smile, her eyes fixed on the calm beach in front of them. There were a few couples, but it was less crowded compared to the morning buzz, making the moment even more special.
Zevian glanced at the beach and then looked at Evelyn, his eyes marveling at her beautiful smile. "Yes," he replied with a smile.
Soon, Riya returned with a few bottles of alcohol, all from local brands. Zevian’s expression shifted slightly to one of concern, causing Evelyn to chuckle. "Don’t worry, you won’t die after drinking here."
"Yes! Grace and Ava are regulars here," Riya said, opening a bottle and passing it to Evelyn. "It’s safe and totally private; no one will take pictures of you," she added, passing a bottle to Zevian.
Evelyn nodded when Zevian glanced at her for confirmation. This bar never delved into their private lives. Everyone treated them as normal citizens, making it the best spot to soothe their worries.
Zevian accepted the bottle, bringing a smile to Riya’s face. With Avery not around, he felt a bit more at ease, knowing his team was already there, allowing him to relax and spend time with Evelyn.
"To more adventures," Evelyn toasted, raising her bottle. It was their classic toast ever since they started going out, and she wondered if he still remembered it. He did.
"To not dying on the first one," Zevian countered, clinking his bottle against hers.
Evelyn smiled, feeling giddy even before tasting the alcohol. She had brought him out to relax, but it had turned into a date, reminiscing on the memories they had shared six years ago.
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, sipping their drinks, enjoying Bobby’s snacks, and watching the moonlight dance on the water’s surface. Their peaceful moment was interrupted when the twins barged in, followed by their mother.
"Can I join you guys?" Riya asked, dragging a reluctant Ryan along. She had always warned him not to delude himself about Grace, knowing bits and pieces of her love story. She was excited to hear more, only if they were willing to share.
"I am sorry," Bobby said, grabbing Riya’s arm and scolding her, but the girl stared at Evelyn with puppy eyes.
"I know I bragged about privacy and stuff, but we are just really happy for you and want to celebrate your marriage," Riya explained, pursing her lips.
Evelyn smiled and nodded, letting the twins sit on the bench opposite them. These strangers had always listened to her drunken whines, letting her wear her heart on her sleeve and slip out of her pain. She couldn’t say no to them, especially to Riya.
"So, how did you guys meet?" Riya questioned, startling both Evelyn and Zevian. "Sorry if I am being too much. I am just curious if he is the one you always talked about. I mean your first love you cursed and missed so much."
Evelyn coughed, almost spitting out her drink at Riya’s blunt questions. She regretted allowing this troublemaker to join them.
Zevian’s lips curled into an amused smile. He glanced at Evelyn before turning to Riya. "First love?"
"Yeah! Are you that guy or the dumb fiancé?"
Evelyn wanted to bury herself at the mention of Vincent. Her relationship with him had been rather platonic. He never took their engagement seriously, giving her nothing but disappointment before breaking up with her. She had always come here to vent, and with what Avery had said, she had always cursed Zevian and held him responsible for it. And now, Riya was revealing every bit of her drunken anecdotes.
"I am definitely not the latter," Zevian replied, with an amused smile. This was getting fun!
"OMG! Then you must be her first love!" Riya exclaimed, causing her mother to shake her head. "See, Ryan! I told you!" she added, slapping her twin’s shoulder with a laugh. The twins had always debated that if Grace ever met her first love again, she would reconcile with him, and it seemed like she had. Even Bobby seemed pleased with this turn of events.
Evelyn took a large sip of her drink, searching for any way out of this embarrassing situation. Only alcohol could save her now and make her forget everything that might happen tonight!
"So, how did you guys meet?" Riya asked, ignoring her brother and walking out while Bobby tried to stop her.
Evelyn wasn’t sure how to answer. Should she talk about their first meeting six years ago or how he had saved her in the ice cream shop a few weeks ago? Zevian decided to make it easy for her.
"We were set up on a blind date by Ava."
"That’s so cheesy! Tell me more, only if you don’t mind," Riya added, indirectly encouraging them to relive those memories.
Evelyn decided to recount their disastrous blind date, glaring at Zevian who had a guilty smile. She remembered every single detail, especially his rude behavior.
"Ah, he was unnecessarily rude!" Riya commented, slightly glaring at Zevian. "Did he apologize later?"
Evelyn nodded, a smile spreading on her flushed cheeks as she recalled how he had done it.
"Yes, I did," Zevian replied. Turning to Evelyn, he continued with a smile, "And I also convinced her to work as my assistant."
"Oh my god! So it was an office romance?!" Riya murmured, surprised and eager to know more about their past.
