Harlow continued, unbothered. "I’m apologizing for wasting your time... at the wrong hall."
The room fell into stunned silence.
"My guards weren’t informed that this is not where the event is being held," she explained, her voice smooth as silk. "This was just a try-and-fail room."
Garth’s eyes widened, her carefully planned scheme crumbling before her.
Claudia’s smirk faded.
Lia’s fingers twitched.
The guests glanced at each other in confusion. What is really going on?
"That’s a lie!" Lia snapped, her voice shaking with frustration. "This is the event hall! Who do you think you can fool, Harlow?"
Panic flared in her eyes. She knew for a fact that Harlow was lying because they had destroyed this room themselves. Harlow had no backup plan. She was bluffing. She had to be.
There’s no way Harlow must have arranged or decorated another room in time.
Harlow met her gaze with a calm, knowing smile. "Please, come with me. Let me make up for the time wasted. I deeply regret any inconvenience I’ve caused you all."
There was a beat of silence.
Then, Madeline took a step forward. "Well, I am curious. And it better be worth it."
She strode toward Harlow, and just like that, the rest of the guests followed. Claudia, Garth, and Lia stiffened as they watched everyone turn back to Harlow’s side. Before their eyes, Harlow had slowly changed everything.
And then, as if on cue, the side doors swung open.
Layla stepped out, standing tall and confident. Behind her, the real event hall was revealed.
Gasps rippled through the crowd as everyone stared at it. The room was stunning.
The chandeliers bathed the hall in warm, golden light, casting soft reflections on the polished floors. Every table was elegantly set, adorned with flowers and shimmering crystal glasses. A grand stage stood at the front, draped in fine fabric, and the air smelled of deliciously prepared meals waiting to be served.
There were servants already standing in the room awaiting the guests and ready to serve them.
"Wow," a woman breathed, turning to Charlotte. "Your daughter-in-law is really something. This is exquisite."
One by one, the guests stepped inside, drawn in by the beauty of the hall. Layla and the staff guided them to their seats, ensuring everyone was comfortable. Laughter replaced anger, and the earlier frustration melted away as people admired the effort put into the event.
The Hamilton name had been saved tonight, and it was all thanks to Harlow.
Harlow walked in, Charlotte’s hand resting gently on hers. Alanis was right beside them, his proud gaze never leaving her face.
But just as Garth, Claudia, and Lia moved to follow them in...
Thud!
A guard stepped forward, blocking their path. "What do you think you’re doing?" Garth demanded, glaring at the man.
"Apologies, ma’am," the guard said with a respectful bow. "You are not invited to this party. Please leave."
A stunned silence fell between them.
"Excuse me?" Garth’s voice was dangerously low.
"This is my grandmother’s party!" Lia snapped, her face turning red.
Claudia clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms.
The guard remained calm. "By Miss Harlow’s orders, you are not permitted to enter."
Garth’s nostrils flared. She opened her mouth, ready to argue, but the guard simply stepped back and shut the door on their faces.
The sound echoed through the empty hall, sealing their fate. Lia pounded on the door. "You can’t do this! Let us in!"
Claudia turned to Garth, frustration written all over her face. "What now?"
Garth gritted her teeth. First, Harlow had outmaneuvered them. Now, she was humiliating them. The same humiliation they planned for her. This is the last straw.
Inside the grand hall, the evening unfolded perfectly. The once angry guests were now all smiles, raising their glasses in celebration.
Charlotte, seated at the head of the room, beamed with pride. Every person who walked by praised Harlow, showering her with compliments.
"She planned all of this?"
"I can’t believe we doubted her."
"She’s truly an asset to this family."
As the night came to an end, one by one, the guests began to leave, offering their respects to Charlotte on their way out.
Charlotte turned to Harlow, her eyes warm with gratitude. "Tonight was perfect. Thank you, my dear."
Harlow squeezed her hand gently. "Anything for you, Grandma." she pegged the older woman’s cheek.
Harlow knew tonight she had won. Tonight has been the best but tomorrow would be better.
.
.
By the time morning arrived, Garth and her two daughters were already storming Charlotte’s villa, eager to report Harlow for the humiliation they had suffered.
Garth seethed with rage. She would never accept such treatment from Harlow. Never.
While she went to confront Charlotte, her son, George, had taken it upon himself to visit Alanis at his villa, determined to demand answers.
He could tolerate Harlow’s disrespect toward his wife and sister, after all, they had their own issues, but his mother? That was unacceptable. Harlow had no right to treat Garth that way.
If he had been there last night, he would have stopped it. But he hadn’t. His injury had kept him bedridden, though it still puzzled him how Alanis had managed to walk hours after his own wound.
It didn’t matter now. What mattered was setting things straight.
The heavy front doors swung open, and George stepped inside, his jaw tight with anger.
A servant had woken Alanis up, informing him that his brother had something urgent to say. Annoyed, Alanis descended the grand staircase, his expression sharp and unreadable.
He stopped in front of George, arms crossed. "What do you want?" His voice was low, filled with impatience. "It better be important."
George didn’t hesitate. "Mother told me your wife humiliated her at Grandma’s party last night."
Alanis raised an eyebrow, utterly unbothered. "So?"
George frowned. "So?" he repeated, his tone incredulous.
Alanis let out a slow breath, his face indifferent. He already knew what this was about. Harlow had told him everything, the way Garth, Claudia, and Lia had intentionally sabotaged the party, how they had tried to ruin the night for Charlotte and disgrace Harlow in front of the guests.
Why the hell will Harlow have let them join the celebration after what they did?
"You’re really just going to brush this off?" George demanded.
"It’s not my problem," Alanis said lazily.
