When morning light crept in, Harlow woke up to the familiar, sweet scent of roses. The entire room was filled with them, red, white, pink, blue, black, and more. Covering every inch like they had bloomed just for her. She smiled, breathing in the fragrance deeply as she stretched lazily on the bed.

Turning to the side, she shifted her small frame to get more comfortable... only to bump into something hard and warm.

Her eyes snapped open.

Alanis.

He was lying beside her, shirtless, his face calm and peaceful in sleep. She let out a quiet sigh of relief. At least she hadn’t woken him with her clumsy movements.

But her gaze lingered longer than she had meant it to. Alanis had his fair share of handsomeness, it’s one of the reasons she had fallen for him in the past.

Her heart fluttered as memories from last night flooded back. She had told him she’d try to love him. Not exactly a full confession, but it was close enough. She had never imagined those words would leave her mouth, not after everything, but they had. She had confessed to wanting to love Alanis.

Her confession was the least of her problems right now. She had initiated their kiss last night.

She covered her face with one hand, groaning softly. What had she been thinking?

Alanis would never let her forget this. He’d tease her endlessly. How was she supposed to look him in the eye now?

Harlow could feel her cheeks burning in embarrassment. No way. She had to escape before he woke up.

She was slowly inching off the bed when a strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her back against a firm chest like she weighed nothing.

"Where do you think you’re going this early?" Alanis’ voice was low and husky, still touched with sleep. He barely opened his eyes to look at her, yet, the woman in his arms was dumbstruck.

Her heart nearly jumped out of her chest. His voice... it was unfair how it made her feel.

At this rate, she wouldn’t be shocked if she had a heart attack. Alanis was more poisonous than the high blood pressure.

"I... I was just..." she stammered, unable to form a proper excuse. Her tongue felt tied, her thoughts scattered.

Why was she suddenly so shy?

What was this man doing to her?

"Running away?" he teased, sitting up with her still held tightly in his arms. "Hmm?"

"I wasn’t..." she started, but her words died in her throat as he gently guided her onto his lap.

And then, without warning, his lips met hers again.

Soft. Warm. Perfect.

When he pulled back, his voice dropped to a whisper. "That’s no way to treat the love of your life, villain. You don’t run from me... you come to me."

Her entire face flushed. Her neck turned red too. She didn’t even need a mirror to know how much she was blushing.

Alanis looked... lighter today. Happier. His eyes were softer, his smile more real. She’d never seen him like this. It was like sunlight had broken through a storm that had raged for years.

She bit her lower lip nervously, and he noticed. His dark eyes stared down at her lips.

"Don’t do that," he warned gently. "Biting your lip like that... makes me want to bite it too."

Her eyes widened. She let go of her lip immediately, unsure what to do with her mouth now.

"Alanis..." she whispered, her voice breathy as his lips brushed her shoulder, placing slow, warm kisses on her skin.

"Hm?" he murmured against her neck.

"Don’t you think... this is too much?" she asked softly, her hands pressed to his chest, not really pushing him away... just grounding herself.

His eyes met hers, serious now. "You said you were ready to learn how to love me, I’m only teaching you."

"Is it too much for you?" Alanis asked to see her hesitate a little.

"No," she whispered.

He smiled. "Then let me love you, villain."

And when he kissed her again, this time deeper, slower, hungrier, she didn’t pull away. She didn’t stop him. She couldn’t stop him.

She was learning to love him again. This Alanis is different, he does not deserve the punishment of the former. Maybe it was time she learned to forgive. Maybe it was time she learned to love him again.

Harlow moved her hands through his hair as she kissed him back with matching fervor.

"Ahh." She moaned against his lips when his hands cupped her breast.

"A... Alanis." His lips covered her nipples in the light fabric and Harlow but her lips from making any sound.

"Yes, villain," Alanis responded, his lips still covering her pink nipples.

"T... The housekeeper might hear us." Harlow said.

"Then don’t scream too much my love." He said lifting her fabric till he had pulled it from her body entirely. His dark eyes moved through every inch of her body. Harlow quickly placed her hands on her dangling breast, embarrassment washing over her. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

No matter how she tried to be normal, no matter how she tried to tell herself it was nothing and she was acting like a fool, she was still so very embarrassed.

No man has looked at her body, not even the Alanis of her past. The only thing she remembers from the first night they were together was pain. Alanis wasn’t easy with her. He terrified her and then made her beg for more.

"No don’t try to hide anything, sweetheart..." He said.

"Why, because all you want to do is have sex with me?" Alanis was taken aback by her sudden question.

She was trying to love him, she was trying to give him a chance, but everything he did reminded her of the past. Of how much she had to endure because of him.

"No, because you’re beautiful," Alanis said.

"I’ve said it a thousand times how much I love you Villian."

"Yes, I love you is always the green card to get what you want."

"We’re already married. You have everything I am to your name. Why would I love you because of sex?"

"Then why do you love me, Alanis? Why do you love me?" Alanis was silent for a second.
