"There’s no pain greater than the pain of losing a family member over something as little as this. They would miss their big aunt so dearly Lia." Harlow said calmly. She should have never saved this girl, but she was doing it because of her house.

She didn’t want this mansion to be remembered as the place where her stupid sister-in-law died.

"Let me make you an offer Lia. Hmm." The male servants finally reached the ceiling, each one of them tip-toeing to Lia.

"Lia please don’t do this. We’re your family, and we love you more than you know. We’ll always love you." Charlotte said.

"Grandma is right Lia. Suicide is not the way out." Harlow added.

"Why are you doing this Harlow, after everything I’ve done to you?" Lia asked with tears-filled eyes.

She had been the meanest person in the world to Harlow. She had humiliated her every chance she got. Sided with Claudia and her mother to take all of Harlow’s inheritance.

She’s plotted with Claudia to get her sister-in-law raped and kicked out of their family. Yet in all, Harlow still cared.

Maybe Harlow isn’t a bad person. Claudia is. She’s the witch that tried to separate them.

Lia opened her mouth to speak, but three men grabbed her from behind. "Hey let me go." She struggled against them, thrashing her hands and feet to free herself from their grip.

In the process of breaking free, her shoe slipped from her legs to slam hard against Charlotte’s head. The older woman fell to the ground immediately, her head hitting the concrete floor and she immediately passed out.

"Grandma." Harlow and Alanis rushed towards her. Lia who had been struggling earlier, suddenly stopped when she saw her grandmother on the floor.

"Grandma." She cried out. The male servants led her down from the ceiling while Alanis carried his grandma inside the mansion.

After a while, a doctor arrived at the mansion and went ahead to check on Charlotte. He examined the older woman calmly, and after what seemed like eternity, he stepped out of the room.

Lia was the first to rush to him, after all, it was her fault Charlotte was in that condition now. If she hadn’t done too much, she wouldn’t have been hurt.

Plus she knows Alanis will not spare her if anything happens to Charlotte. It has happened before, she had seen how he punished George and Claudia.

"How is she?" Lia asked the man.

"She’s fine. Let her rest for now, she’ll wake up soon enough." Harlow sighed in relief. She hoped Charlotte was fine. She should have considered the older woman’s feelings before going on with her revenge plan.

Alanis stepped out with the doctor and Harlow headed for her bedroom.

"Harlow," Lia called when she saw her sister-in-law walk away and Harlow turned to look at her.

"What is it, Lia?" She asked. "I’ll ask two maids to sleep with you tonight just in case you try to hurt yourself again," Harlow said calmly.

She didn’t feel sympathy for Lia, she was only concerned about her home being soiled with her blood. She reminded herself constantly.

"I’m sorry for being a bad sister-in-law Harlow." Lia started.

"I... I had let my jealousy get the best of me. In truth, I’ve always looked up to you, but I didn’t know how to say it. Maybe because you humiliated us after your marriage." Lia said. She had held a huge grudge for Harlow due to the event of that day.

"Please forgive me, Harlow. I know it might be hard for us to get along. But I just want you to know that I’m very sorry." Lia said. Harlow was silent for a moment as she stared at her sister-in-law.

"What brought about the change of heart Lia?" She asked.

"Today has taught me a valuable lesson. Even after everything I’ve done to you. You still care enough to talk me out of my foolishness." Lia said.

"I only did that for the mansion. I don’t want your blood everywhere." Harlow confessed. It’s the reason she had saved Lia. Not because she felt pity for her or because she still loved her.

After her words, she turned to leave. "Harlow," Lia called and she turned to look at her. Lia rushed to hug her sister-in-law. "Thank you." She said.

"I’ll still keep the maids with you, to be sure your apology is not a fare well of death." Harlow smiled and started walking away.

If she wakes up by morning to see Lia dead in any part of the mansion, she will go to the spirit world and kill her again.

The next morning, Harlow woke up to the sweet scent of roses. She smiled when she saw the fresh bouquet on her nightstand. Even in the middle of all this chaos, Alanis hadn’t forgotten.

She freshened up quickly and left her room, planning to check on Charlotte, and Lia, just in case. Harlow hoped that stupid sister-in-law of hers hadn’t killed herself already. freewebnσvel.cѳm

As she made her way downstairs in a green dress, the maids she passed bowed politely.

"Good morning Madam." Beaver greeted with a bow too.

"Beaver, where is my sister-in-law?" Harlow asked as she kept walking away and the man followed closely behind her.

"She went out for a walk in the garden. Miss Lia looked a little happier today.

"And grandma?" Harlow asked.

"In her room with Master Alanis," Beaver responded politely.

"Alright." Harlow headed towards Charlotte’s room with a big smile on her face. She couldn’t wait to see how she was doing. But as she approached the room, she heard muffled voices, and then came Charlotte’s shout.

"Get out of here you rascal! You don’t have any right to be with her after everything you did." Harlow’s steps slowed as she wondered what those two were fighting about.

It is so unlike them to fight especially after Charlotte just woke up.

"You know I love her." She heard Alanis’s voice.

"You better tell her the truth, Alanis. After everything that happened in the past. She deserves to know you’re her husband."

"It’s all your fault she ended the way she did. The least you can do is be sincere." Waking up this morning, Charlotte realized she had regained her memory again.

She now recalls everything that has happened in the past and now.

"She deserves to know that the man she had loved dearly for years loves her too."

"I know grandma. I’m waiting for the right time." Alanis responded.

"There is no right time you rascal. She loves you, Alanis. Do the right thing."
