It was evening already in Halkhalls. The last vestige of the day waved its final goodbye before finally leaving the face of the earth for darkness.
Servants moved from one part of the mansion to another. A day like this has only been in Charlotte’s dream. A dream of seeing her favorite grandson Alex again.
She loved Liam as much as she did Alex, but she felt so happy knowing her great-grandson existed. She has been so excited since Alanis called her the night before.
Throughout the day, she had moved around, making sure the maids kept things in place for the return of her daughter-in-law and great-grandson. Her Alex was coming back, and from everything Alanis told her, he was even smarter than he was in the past.
"Wow, why the decorations grandma, is there any feast or party I don’t know about?" George asked looking around.
He had gotten a call from Charlotte asking him to come over only to be greeted by this.
"Liam, where is Liam?" Charlotte asked looking around.
"He’ll be here shortly," George said. "I couldn’t come with him because you said the matter was urgent," George said.
"It is, George. It is very urgent." Charlotte’s calm voice rang. She isn’t as strong as she used to be before, but at least she can still walk with her two feet. She had given up hope in the past.
She had accepted her fate of not seeing her great-grandson Alex again, but who knew he would come again. At last, she would see her great-grandson before she died. frёewebnoѵēl.com
That was her biggest wish.
"Shouldn’t we wait for Alanis to get back before we have this conversation?" George asked.
"And don’t bother asking, I don’t even know where he is," George added. He had tried calling his brother multiple times and in all those times, Alanis had not said anything about where he went.
If he thinks he’s the only one who needs a break from work, then he must be joking. He also wanted a break. A long vacation even just for him and his son Liam.
"Oh don’t worry about it, I already know where your brother went to." Charlotte smiled. It was evident she was so happy, but George had no idea why.
Had Alanis secured a huge deal? But even while he did so in the past, no amount of money made had put a smile on the older woman’s face, except of course Liam who tried at times.
Since Alanis finding a deal was out of the picture, he wondered if his brother had found a new lover.
Gorge had overheard Charlotte advising him no to stay single and that he needed a new lover and George wondered if that’s what Alanis had traveled for.
That sly demon, he smiled. He had pretended like he didn’t need any woman even when George tried to hook him up with them, only to travel far to bring her home. He couldn’t believe Alanis could do this.
George wanted to say more but the doors burst open to a familiar figure walking in. Frank Blackwood walked in elegantly. He had a smile on his face. A face that once was young now had visible wrinkles showing his age.
Charlotte has invited him over because she knew how worried he was for Harlow. Just like Alanis, Frank has not stopped searching for his only child. He may have been bad to her in the past, but now he’s learned the truth he wanted to make up for all of the time he had disappointed her.
But just when Frank thought he was finally getting things done right, his only child is missing to this day.
"Frank, my good friend." Charlotte stretched her hands for a hug and he hugged her.
"What is he doing here grandma, I thought we promised to cut all ties with this family?" George suddenly said glaring at the man who had locked his mother up in prison for life.
Yes, both Elisa and Garth’s sentence turned out to be for life. They would spend the rest of their days locked up in there.
George knew whatever his mother must have done wasn’t that good, but as a family, Frank would have spared her. But he locked her up.
George had been low-key happy when Harlow left his brother for God knows where.
"I know we said things like that George, but Frank Blackwood is family," Charlotte said.
"How is he still a part of our family if his daughter is no longer Alani’s wife?" George asked. There was no rocket science involved in that. It was just something anybody would know.
"Who says Harlow’s not a part of the family?" Charlotte asked with a smile and George frowned. He didn’t like where this was going.
That stupid brother of his. He should have known. This is all Alanis’s plan.
That woman ruined their lives, she destroyed them and left them with nothing, and now their life was back on track, here she comes again.
Why was he the only person that was seeing how malicious Harlow Blackwood was.
"By that you mean..."
"Exactly what you’re thinking Frank. According to Alanis, they have a child together. So you’re already a grandfather Frank." Frank jumped unable to contain his joy.
Harlow had a child, and all this while he had thought his daughter to be barren because of what Elisa had told him. That witch has sowed seeds of discord in his family.
"That is why I had to invite you over Frank. They should be here any time soon." Charlotte beamed.
She couldn’t wait to hold her little Alex in her arms again. She would shower him with kisses every day, every hour and every second of her life. While both people were celebrating, Liam arrived.
"Grandma." His tiny voice sounded and Charlotte turned to look at him, her smile even expanding more for him. This little baby had been her rock and everything when things were bad. He had been the motivation they all had. The reason to move forward.
"Come here." Charlotte stretched both her hands and Liam didn’t hesitate to hug her.
"I miss you great grandma," Liam responded.
"We’re having a special dinner tonight, I’ll have the maids take you to your room to freshen up.
"What dinner grandma?" Liam asked his eyes finally meeting his father with a sulking expression.
"It’s a surprise, now run along." Charlotte said and the maids took him away.
At exactly 7:pm, a black Bentley pulled through the entrance of a familiar mansion. But rather than maids and butlers welcoming them, the family members stood at the entrance of the mansion.
