The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 303: Forgiveness
Kaiden wrapped his arms around her as he pulled her tightly against his chest while he buried his face in the crook of her neck. It didn’t even take Emily a second to realize that he was crying too but his pain was not only for losing Elisa, it was also for all three of them.
"Kaiden... I’m sorry." She found herself apologizing as she wrapped her arms around his waist and clutched on tightly, afraid to lose him if she let go.
The man softly brushed his hand over her head as he replied, "I don’t blame you, Angel, because I know you. If you have known that she was a good person, you would have never ignored her. But you were just a scared child and none of what happened was your fault. Besides..."
This time he pulled away from the hug to look into her eyes as his palms cupped her face. "... it was Elisa’s decision to help you, and she knew the consequences too well. You don’t have to blame yourself for something that you never did."
More tears rolled down Emily’s cheeks as she felt her heart shaking as all the stored grief, guilt, and self-blame poured out of her after so many years. She buried her face in her mate’s arms as she cried her heart out and he joined her as they both tried to get rid of the pain that had been haunting them for so many years.
Who knew how long they sat there just crying in each other’s arms, but none of them could deny that their heart felt so light after all the crying and confessions.
"Let’s go and meet her tomorrow. We will apologize to her together and ask for her blessings for our new lives. I’m sure she will forgive us and even bless us with happiness." Kaiden suggested with hopeful eyes and Emily immediately nodded her head. It was the last thing they could do to make things right.
"I’m so happy that we got the monster who was responsible for all these miseries. He is finally paying for what he did to those so many innocent people." Emily muttered as she recalled the Fifth master who was still locked in the underground dungeons and was being tortured every day and night as he wished for his death but was unable to die.
She didn’t feel any sort of remorse for sentencing him to an eternal torture. She wanted him to experience exactly what she and her other companions experienced during their time in his dungeons. She wanted him to suffer as much as she did, and she wanted him to pay for the beautiful lives that he snatched away.
She felt Kaiden’s soft fingers brushing against her cheeks as he wiped away the traces of the tears that she had shed. He suddenly chuckled which made her look up at him in question. "Look at your puffy face, you are so cute." His eyes twinkled as he spoke. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Emily found herself hiding her face as she realized just how horrible she must be looking after crying so much. Besides, she had just woken up and her hair was already a mess of curls because of that. "Don’t make fun of me." She murmured as she tried to sneak away from him but his arm wrapped around her waist stopped her.
He pulled her back into a hug as he tightened his arms around her and buried his face in her hair. "Let me hold you for a while. I’m afraid of even letting you out of my sight even for a second."
His confession made Emily feel even more guilty. "I’m sorry, Kaiden." She apologized again.
"Stop saying sorry, angel. It wasn’t your..."
"No." Emily stopped him as she pulled out of the hug but stayed in his arms while looking into his beautiful cerulean eyes. "This time I’m apologizing for running away from you without any explanation. What I did was so childish and horrible. I don’t even date to claim just how you must have felt in the past ten or so hours. That’s why I’m really sorry."
Kaiden nodded his head, accepting her apology as he placed a kiss on the back of her hand. His eyes carried so much warmth and love for her as he gazed back into her emerald eyes.
"I’m still so young and unlike you, I’m still not mature enough to handle such situations. I still don’t know how to cope with my emotions and I’m really not good at speaking out my thoughts when I’m taken over by my emotions. There is so much I have to learn and I promise that I’ll try my best to become better with time. Can I ask you to be patient with me until I become as perfect as you?" This time, she was the one looking at him with hopeful eyes.
"Of course, I will. You are doing way better than you think, Angel. If it had been you from the past, it must have taken me weeks or even months to get you to speak, but now, we sorted it out just within a night. I just wish if something like this happens next time, we will be able to sort it out immediately." Kaiden responded as he entangled their fingers together.
"You want something like this to happen again?" Emily asked and there was a teasing note in her tone.
"Oh gosh, of course not." Kaiden immediately shook his head with an ironic expression that made both of them chuckle.
The mood finally lightened as things started turning back to normal between them once again.
"Crist." Emily suddenly recalled her brother again as her mind was relaxed enough to think about other things.
"It’s alright, Angel. Calm down. He’s completely fine and is in the room next to yours. The rest of your family is also here, they just allowed me to meet you first which I’m really thankful for. Go and get freshen up and I’ll take you to meet them."
