The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 318: Separation Rule
The strong wind blowing through the clearing wasn’t really helping Emily as she tried to hold her ground against the powerful force of energy that was trying to throw her back and probably smack her against the tall trees surrounding the clearing.
If not for the fact that she was too busy trying to not get blown away, she would have definitely protested against the tricks that the Fae King was playing on her from the sidelines.
"Come on, Emilia Alessandro, I’m expecting way more from you. I hope you won’t let me down." The fae king didn’t forget to add fuel to the fire as he showed his totally bored expression to Emily who spared a fleeting glance in his direction, surprising him when the little distraction didn’t cause her any losses even when her opponent was one of the best light guards of the Fae Royals.
"You do have good control over your elements yet... there’s still too much left for you to learn. You are really incapable for someone who has graduated from the most prestigious magical academy." He did try to compliment her but couldn’t help adding the latter part which undoubtedly canceled the impact of the former.
Emily finally had enough of the Fae King and his constant remarks that seemed to attack her self-confidence without any mercy. She needed to show the man that she wasn’t that easy to take down, he needed to do better if he wanted her down.
She tugged on her powers that immediately responded to her call and surfaced to act according to her command. She loved feeling her powers taking over her and making everything blur around her. These days, she was finally being able to access her powers without fearing that she would end up revealing her location to those who were still waiting in the shadows for the right moment to attack her.
Taking in a deep breath, she allowed her palms to create a ball of invisible energy from the force of the energy that her opponent had been using her. She allowed herself to be pushed back a little bit to give a false sense of victory to her opponent and the exact moment she felt her trick working as her opponent let his guard down for a fleeting second, she attacked back.
The previously invisible energy ball suddenly became visible as it absorbed all of her opponent’s applied power and smacked into him only a second or two later, sending him flying across the clearing and into the woods.
The loud thumping sound and the creaks made Emily scrunch her face in both surprise and worry, it seemed like her opponent was not in a very good condition. "Was I too harsh?" She muttered to herself as she ran in the direction where the fae guard was sprawled next to a huge tree.
By the time she reached the guard, he was already shifting into a sitting position which helped her relax to some point as he was at least alive, not like she was confident about killing anyone with the little amount of powers that she possessed. "Are you alright?" She asked while stepping closer to tge guard.
The man looked up at her with a pitiful and complaining expression on his face. "My lady, can you not treat me like your actual opponent? I’m only your partner for training, why do you have to go this far?"
Emily opened her mouth to say something in her defense but there wasn’t really something she could say, after all, she was indeed at fault for hurting him like this while the only thing that she wanted was just to prove a point to the Fae King.
The devil arrived beside them right at that point and gave her the chance for an excuse. "It’s him..." She hurriedly said while pointing her finger at the Fae King who looked at her in return with arched eyebrows that she completely ignored. "... He’s the one responsible for your current state. He kept messing up with me and it made me lose control of my powers."
While Emily thought that her excuse was good enough, the guard seemed the least bit impressed by it as he replied, "Then you should try better to keep your powers in your control, My Lady. You should remember that it should always be you controlling your powers and not the other way around."
Emily was once again left speechless as she had nothing to argue with the guard’s words. She could see why he was one of the elite guards of the Fae Royalty, not only he was really powerful but also smart and knowledgeable.
"And how about you accept that you are not her opponent at all?" The Fae King decided to speak, probably attempting to save Emily’s face. "Don’t take out your frustration on her just because she’s way more powerful than you while being so young. Now, you can leave and get your injuries treated." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Yes, Your Majesty." The guard bowed before he stood up and left without a single word. The way he limped while walking and his pale complexion was clear evidence of just how badly he was injured.
"And how about you try to not let your emotions take control over you?" This time, the Fae King’s attention was pointed at Emily as he spoke. "You need to remember, Emilia, that combining your powers and your emotions will never result in a good thing. Though sometimes it can really be impossible even for the best among the bests to keep their emotions from taking control over their powers, you still need to try your best to master this separation."
Emily nodded her head in understanding. She was already aware that mixing emotions and powers was never an open option for anyone - a lesson that Shadow had been trying to install in her for a long time. "I will be more careful in the future." She promised not only to the Fae King but also to herself.
