The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 344: Something Wrong
Emily’s senses stirred to life as the enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air, coaxing her from the depths of slumber. She blinked her eyes sleepily, attempting to adjust to the dimness that permeated the room. After a few moments, her surroundings began to take shape, and she realized that it was already well past noon as her eyes fell on the clock sitting on the bedside table.
A soft groan escaped her lips as the realization hit her; she had not only missed breakfast with her brothers but also squandered precious hours she had intended to spend attending to important matters at the company. The responsibilities weighed heavily on her mind.
Sliding out from beneath the soft, velvet blanket that had cocooned her, Emily gingerly made her way out of bed, her legs feeling unsteady beneath her. Every muscle in her body seemed to ache, but the most intense sensations came from between her thighs, a vivid reminder of the passionate activities she and Kaiden had indulged in both the previous night and earlier that morning. The memories elicited a blush that warmed her cheeks, and she didn’t need a mirror to confirm her own rosy reflection.
With determination, she shuffled to the bathroom to begin her preparations for the day. A rejuvenating shower washed away the remnants of sleep, and she meticulously followed her body and skincare routine. Emily then selected a light violet dress from the wardrobe, its formal undertones hinting at her impending workday. After applying minimal makeup, she descended the stairs, ready to face the world.
Much to her expectations, she found Kaiden in the kitchen, his tall, well-built frame illuminated by the soft glow of daylight filtering through the windows. What surprised her, however, was his unconventional attire—or lack thereof. Save for his black trousers and an apron, Kaiden stood bare-chested, his muscular upper body on full display, a sight that sent a rush of warmth through her veins.
A bright smile curved on his lips as he noticed her descending the stairs. "Want some coffee?" He asked while gesturing toward his own half filled coffee mug.
Emily responded with an enthusiastic nod, her longing for the caffeine fix evident. She took her seat at the dining table, and the two of them commenced their lunch while savoring the aromatic brew.
Once they were almost done with the meal, Kaiden passed her a little bottle filled with a golden colored liquid.
"What is this?" Emily asked as she opened the bottle and smelled the liquid to see if she could recognize it by its smell.
"It’s a magical potion to alleviate the soreness in your body." Kaiden answered and his words were a reminder of their passionate escapades.
Trying to hold back from blushing any further, she hurriedly drank the entire content of the bottle in one single gulp. It tasted sweet, almost like honey.
They hurriedly took care of the dirty dishes and got ready to leave the apartment, but the man seemed too reluctant to let her go.
Kaiden drew her close into his arms, and their lips met with the same fervor that had ignited their connection. It was a kiss filled with desire and longing, a testament to the undeniable chemistry they shared.
Reluctantly, Kaiden released her from their intimate embrace when Emily gently made him understand that she had a multitude of pending work awaiting her at the office.
With Shadow conspicuously absent, Kaiden offered to drive her to her workplace, a kind gesture that she gratefully accepted. Together, they embarked on separate paths, each heading to their respective domains—Emily to her company, and Kaiden to his, leaving behind the promise of reuniting later in the day.

Emily’s office was a sanctuary of order and productivity, but as she stared at her computer screen, her mind was far from the spreadsheets and emails that usually consumed her attention. The memory of the previous night with Kaiden played on a loop in her mind like a favorite song that wouldn’t stop.
Her cheeks flushed a deeper shade of crimson as she remembered his smile, the way his fingers had brushed against hers, and the warmth of his embrace. It was a night filled with laughter, shared secrets, and stolen kisses, a night that had ignited something inside her she couldn’t quite put into words.
Amidst the blissful memories, a disconcerting feeling gnawed at her. It was like a persistent itch at the back of her mind that she couldn’t scratch. At first, she had dismissed it as mere nerves or excitement, but now, it had grown into an undeniable presence.
Emily’s thoughts swirled around like leaves caught in a whirlwind, and then they abruptly landed on Shadow. Her heart skipped a beat, and she felt a sudden pang of worry. Shadow had been conspicuously absent throughout the day.
She couldn’t ignore the unease any longer. She grabbed her car keys from her desk, the cold metal reassuring against her clammy palm. With a resolute determination, she rose from her chair and headed toward the door. Her steps echoed in the empty office corridor as she made her way to the parking lot.
The late afternoon sun bathed everything in a golden glow, but Emily’s mind was clouded with worry. She got into her car, the engine purring to life but was stopped the very next moment by a familiar person.
It was Lauren, one of Shadow’s most trusted men. His expression was stoic, but there was a hint of concern in his eyes.
"Miss Alessandro," he greeted her with a nod.
"Lauren, where’s Shadow?" Emily’s voice trembled slightly, betraying her anxiety.
Lauren hesitated for a moment, his gaze shifting to the ground. "He’s... taking care of some urgent business. He’ll be back soon."
The cryptic response only deepened Emily’s unease. "Lauren, something doesn’t feel right. Tell me what’s going on."
Lauren sighed, his shoulders slumping slightly. "It’s complicated, Miss Alessandro..."
Emily let out a dejected sigh, she knew better than anyone else just how loyal Shadow’s men were to him. No matter how much she pressed, Lauren won’t give her a direct answer. So, she did the only thing that she could think of.
"I’m heading to the Night Valley. It’s up to if you want to help or not." She didn’t wait for his response before she raced the car down the road leading toward highway.
