The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 373: The Rush of Preparations
Emily sighed as she glanced at her packed schedule for the upcoming week. With Daniel’s wedding looming closer, her life had turned into a whirlwind of activity. She sat at her cluttered desk, surrounded by stacks of paperwork, trying to focus on the task at hand.
It had been weeks since the day she and Shadow finally stopped fighting their bond and accepted their feelings for each other. Ever since then, the three of them - Emily, Kaiden, and Shadow, had been spending mostly all their time together which made their bonds stronger.
"Darling, are you ready to go shopping for the wedding?" Bianca’s voice broke through Emily’s thoughts as she entered the room, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Emily smiled wearily, pushing aside her work for a moment. "Sure, just let me grab my purse."
"Are you alrigh? You look tired." Annika’s worry filled voice pulled Emily’s attention toward her soon to be sister-in-law.
Emily shook her head as she picked up her blazer and purse before turning her attention toward Annika and Bianca. "I’m alright, just tired from all the office work. This shopping time is exactly what I need to refresh myself."
She watched the worry disappearing from both women’s eyes as they accepted her excuse as truth and didn’t pressed on the matter further.
As the three of them strolled through the aisles of the luxury stores, Emily marveled at the array of items displayed before them. Annika and Bianca chattered excitedly about color schemes and floral arrangements, while Emily nodded along, offering her opinion when asked.
After what seemed like hours of browsing, they finally settled on a selection of elegant decorations that would transform the Alessandro Mansion into a fairytale wedding venue.
Later that evening, Emily found herself covered in dust and sweat as she helped her brothers with the renovations at the mansion. Most of the mansion was being renovated by a professional company but there were certain areas that they had decided to renovate on their own.
Since the last one week, she and her brothers had been working tirelessly, painting walls, hanging drapes, and arranging furniture to perfection. Every other day, Annika and Claire joined too so that they could renovate Claire’s room along with Daniel.
"Emy, hand me that hammer, will you?" Mark called from across the room, his sleeves rolled up and a streak of paint adorning his cheek.
Emily obliged, passing him the tool with a grin. Despite the physical exertion, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction as she watched the mansion slowly transform before her eyes.
As the days passed, Emily’s schedule only seemed to grow busier. Between her training classes with Aleron and spending time with Annika and Claire for shopping sprees, she barely had a moment to herself. But amidst the chaos, she found solace in the company of Kaiden and Shadow, who stood by her side through it all.
The men cooked delicious food for her, massaged her muscles to release the tension, prepared hot baths for her, and made sure she was getting enough sleep to recharge herself.
One evening, while sitting around a crackling fire in the backyard, Emily couldn’t help but reflect on the whirlwind of activity that had consumed her life in recent weeks.
"I don’t know how I’m going to manage everything," she confessed, her voice tinged with exhaustion.
Rylan placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, his eyes full of understanding. "You’re doing an amazing job, Em. We’re all here to support you every step of the way."
Shane nodded in agreement, his expression serious. "Remember, we’re a team. We’ll get through this together."
"What are you both talking about? You are making it sound like I’m going through something serious." Emily chuckled at the way her friends were behaving.
"Oh, really? I thought you needed us to behave seriously." Rylan teased as he and Shane chuckled.
"Still, we didn’t lie when we said that you are doing great. You might not show it but we all can feel how tired you are getting daily because of the intense workload you have. Just a few more weeks and you will finally get some rest after the wedding." Shane said as he handed Rylan a can of beer.
Emily smiled gratefully, feeling a surge of determination coursing through her veins. With the unwavering support of her friends and family, she knew she could overcome any obstacle that stood in her way.
As the night wore on, they laughed and shared stories late into the evening, the warmth of the fire cast long shadows across the lawn. For a brief moment, Emily forgot about the stress of wedding preparations and simply basked in the camaraderie of those she held dear.
Eventually, exhaustion caught up with them, and they bid each other goodnight, retreating to their respective rooms with a sense of contentment lingering in the air.
Alone in her room, Emily allowed herself a moment of respite, relishing in the quiet stillness of the night. Tomorrow would bring new challenges and responsibilities, but for now, she allowed herself to savor the fleeting moments of peace that came with the company of loved ones.
With a sense of determination renewed, Emily closed her eyes, only to feel someone slipping inside her room not too long after. A smile bloomed on her lips as she waited for the man to take his place beside her on the bed. She was currently in the Sullivan Mansion, sleeping in the guest room that was not too far away from Kaiden’s private quarters.
A moment or two later, she finally felt the mattress dipping beside her as Kaiden slipped under the covers. The very next moment, one of his hands moved to wrap around her waist and her back was pulled to rest against his warm and well-built chest.
"Good night, Angel." He whispered right before placing a kiss right behind her ear. He then nuzzled his face in the crook of her neck and inhaled her familiar scent.
"Good night."
