The Broken Halo-Chapter 183: Devour
After Radan answered the remaining few questions Simon had about hell stones and the Iron Fangs, he finally agreed to leave.
He paid his fine of one hundred and fifty (150) merits, leaving him with only one hundred and sixty six (166) merits.
In just a single day, he had spent far more than the weekly stipend of the first placed candidate in their class, and he knew that he was still going to spend more.
He had a score to settle with the Iron Fangs, and he was going to settle it no matter what.
Due to their actions, they had made him to spend one hundred and ninety five (195) merits in a single day.
If he failed to collect what he had spent and even more with it, then his heart would not be pleased.
As Simon stood outside the Enforcer’s Station, he looked around with a pondering expression.
’Hmm... So, there are different grades of hell stones. Low, intermediate, high, and peak. Each grade is determined by the quantity and quality of demonic energy a hell stone contains.’
’I’m very interested in getting a hell stone and seeing a hell hole, but that’s not the main issue at the moment.’
’The Iron Fangs... I’ll surely be attacked by the Iron Fangs after I leave the academy gates. Outside the academy, I’m no longer an Initiate but a slave. They can do as they want to me, and they’re punishment would be not be as much as it’s meant to be inside the academy.’
’Many of them are Archfiends, and their leader is a Supreme Archfiend who is on the verge of becoming a Greater Demon.’
’They’re fourteen in number, and I cannot deal with all of them with my current strength.’
’I might have the physical capabilities to contend with a Minor and even some Prime Archfiends, but I can’t deal with many Archfiends, especially when they decide to use their chaos.’
’Talk less of a Supreme Archfiend.’
’If they all decide to attack me, then I would definitely lose. I need to make ample preparations, and I need to advance my heart rank.’
’I’ll try and become a Fiend today. Only after I become a Fiend would it become easier for me to defeat the Iron Fangs and get my revenge.’
’But before that... I need to be prepared.’
Simon exhaled softly, then he finally left the entrance of the Enforcer’s Station.
His destination?
The market square of the academy.
After spending nearly three hours in the market square and encountering some of his classmates like Merath,Jorra, and Sunless, he finally arrived at his main destination which was the cultivation tower that was at the lower tier of the academy.
Many of his classmates would have no idea that there was a cultivation tower in the academy because it was their first day in the academy.
The cultivation tower was just like its name, it was a tower meant for cultivation, and Initiates of the academy could pay to rent a room per hour.
There were several grades of cultivation rooms, ranging from low, mid, high, and peak.
After going on what could be called a shopping spree, he only had sixty two merits left.
And to use a low grade cultivation room, one had to pay ten merits for every hour spent in the cultivation room.
Which meant that Simon had to pay thirty merits to use a low grade cultivation room for an hour.
It was times like these that one would begin to see just how cruel it was to raise the price of every single thing for a slave.
Without hesitation, Simon paid sixty (60) merits to use a low grade cultivation room for two hours, leaving him with only two (2) merits.
From being one of the richest in class, he was now definitely amongst the poorest.
And this was all just in a single day.
Luckily for him, there was a free low grade cultivation room, making Simon to not waste anymore time than he needed to.
After entering the cultivation room, he sat in a cross-legged position while being surrounded by dark grey mist.
The dark grey mist could be seen with the naked eye, and this dark grey mist contained demonic energy in it.
To know that there was demonic energy in it, one would see faint dots of black and dark red crimson lights.
At a glance, one might believe that the demonic energy in this room was dense, but Simon knew that it was not in the slightest.
This grade of cultivation room was only useful for Lesser Demons and Fiends to advance their heart ranks. It was not enough for Archfiends in the slightest.
Even for Simon, the fact that the demonic energy in the cultivation room was higher than the outside environment was still not going to be enough for him to advance his heart rank in two hours.
Simon knew this, but the main reason he rented a cultivation room was because of one reason and one reason alone.
Privacy.
There were very few locations in the academy that had true privacy, and the only place he could access with his current level and merits he had was the cultivation tower.
Although he never saw somebody or a group of individuals spy on him, he knew that he was being watched and advancing to the next major heart rank under these gwEs would cause him more problems than he needed.
"Becoming a Fiend huh. Would have never imagined such a thing in my past life... Funny how life works."
Simon released a sigh, then he waved his hand and the corpse of the Alpha Three-Tailed Shadow Wolf appeared in front of him.
It was obvious he couldn’t advance from being a Lesser Demon to a Fiend in two hours even with the passive state of Devour and the cultivation room, but who said there was no other way to achieve what he wants.
’The only thing I’m concerned about is if I can completely refine the Alpha’s demonic energy and then become a Fiend in two hours... And that’s if the Alpha’s demonic energy would be enough for me to become a Fiend.’
’Oh well. I’ll just have to do what I can.’
Simon nonchalantly shrugged, then he placed his hand on the corpse and said indifferently.
"Devour."
