The Broken Halo-Chapter 218: I’m Rich
Simon narrowed his eyes as he observed the wind tunnels and the structure of the cliff wall.
’I don’t really need my claws in this situation. What I’ll need are my fingers, demonic energy, and my wind affinity to reach the top.’
’I should be able to perceive the wind changes in the wind tunnel, then I can know which wind tunnel is dangerous and which one is not.’
Simon observed the wall for a few seconds, then he nodded and began to climb.
He used his claws for the first ten feet which has a smooth wall like the second section of the wall, and as he climbed, Sunless finally reached her platform.
She glanced at Simon, then at the wind tunnels.
’Hmm... He didn’t even use up to five minutes of rest.’
Although she had the urge to climb and not rest like Simon, she knew that she needed to rest and recover her reserves of shadow energy.
Unlike Simon who had the Miser’s Ring that could reduce his demonic energy consumption by half, she did not have such a thing.
Especially for her shadow energy.
Just as she was about to meditate, she turned to her right and saw Instructor Sormon approach her.
’I guess I should hear what he has to say before I meditate. He should have some tips on how to properly climb this section of the wall.’
A few seconds later, Instructor Sormon stood in front of her and smiled behind his bone lizard mask.
"Initiate Sunless, I have an offer for you."
Sunless was taken aback. She did not expect this.
Wasn’t he meant to teach her how to properly climb this section of the wall?
"What is it?" She asked curiously.
"Do not allow that slave to reach the end of this training or even better, find a way to make him fall. If you can do that, I’ll give you-"
Before Instructor Sormon could even finish his words, Sunless cut him off.
"Sorry Instructor, but that’s not how I do things."
Instructor Sormon frowned. "You don’t even know what reward I want to give you. The reward is-"
Sunless cut him off again. "Like I said, Instructor. That’s not how I do things."
Instructor Sormon’s expression became dark behind his mask.
"You’re still young, so it’s understandable if you don’t understand. But in the demon realm and even in everything, benefits is all that matters. Everything has a price, and I’m sure that the price I’m about to offer you would change your mind."
Sunless laughed softly. "Nahh. I highly doubt that, Instructor Sormon."
Veins appeared on Instructor Sormon’s neck, and his eyes flashed with a dangerous light.
"Are you looking down on me, kid?"
Sunless smiled behind her mask and tilted her head slightly.
"I’m not. But... I’m rich, Instructor Sormon."
"The Grave Lords of the clan knows this, but you don’t because they hid it from you. There’s nothing you can offer that would change my mind."
Sunless then shifted her gaze to Simon who was climbing the wall.
"Besides, what’s the point in causing him to fail when he’s so interesting and fun to watch. Do you know how much chaos and fun he has brought to the academy in just two days?"
"My demon heart beats in excitement when I recall everything and what the future might hold."
Sunless chuckled sweetly while gently touching her left breast as she watched Simon.
"So, Instructor Sormon, I reject your offer. Maybe you can find somebody else."
Instructor Sormon gritted his teeth and clenched his hands in anger. He felt immense humiliation from Sunless’ words, and he wished to teach her a lesson.
But he knew that doing so would lead to severe consequences for him.
Best case scenario, he loses his job.
Worst case scenario, the academy cripples him.
Sunless was highly treasured and valued by the clan, so he could not touch her.
In fact, he would not have approached if not for the fact that he had no choice.
Simon was too far ahead compared to many of his classmates.
Those who were beyond and above him were far away from him to be able to disturb Simon.
The cheetah-masked classmate was still struggling with the second section of the wall, and after watching Sunless climb, he knew that she was the only one that could catch up to Simon.
This was why he approached her.
He hated the fact that Simon was doing so well even without his advice, teachings, and subtle interruptions.
He wanted him to fail.
He hated slaves.
Looked down on them.
And he believed that they should forever be at the bottom.
He hated every slave that ever attended the academy and are in the academy, and he believed that the clan should not even give the slaves an opportunity to rise at all.
’This damned arrogant bitch. I had a good impression of her before, but now it’s terrible.’
Sunless chuckled softly as she could literally see the thick veins on Instructor Sormon’s neck.
She pointed at the top.
"If you still want to stop him, then I’ll advice you to do that. His speed for this section is very high and I believe he’s already at two hundred and fifty (250) feet of the wall."
"What?"
Instructor Sormon looked up in shock, then his pupils widened in disbelief.
"Impossible!"
He was so shocked to the core that nearly every student of the class could hear his exclaim of disbelief.
"This can’t be happening."
He gritted his teeth in anger, and he was about to leave, but Sunless quickly spoke with a sweet and teasing voice.
"Instructor Sormon, you’ve not taught me or given me any advice."
Instructor Sormon glared at Sunless with visible anger in his eyes.
"You-!"
He was about to say the word ’bitch’, but Sunless’ next words left him tongue tied.
"If you don’t teach me, I’ll have no choice but to report this to the authorities."
Instructor Sormon froze, and he cursed Sunless a thousand times in his mind.
Having no choice, he taught Sunless but sent a mental transmission to the Shadow Blades, shouting at them to increase the attacks on Simon!
