The Cannon Fodder in the Global Apocalypse Game lives a leisurely life-Chapter 452: Death Island (4)
Chapter 452: Death Island (4)
Floating in the air is a mountain range perched on an island amidst the infinite sea of white clouds.
Water streamed down from the mountain tops like thin silver ribbons, plunging into the skies below.
A big brown and yellow bird with three-meter wings spread out of the sky like an eagle.
There was a figure kneeling in a white robe riding on its back. His figure could not be seen due of the huge azure turquoise shell that encased him like a cocoon.
Upon approaching the mountain range, a substance resembling plastic film burst open in the area around the mountain, revealing a crack large enough for the bird to fly through.
Only after entering could one see the small and big residences on the long stretch of the grasslands at the foot of the mountains.
After the bird landed on the bird port, its passenger jumped.
The turquoise shell spun like the hot wheels of the car once it touched down on the dirt road and continued to spin until it reached a tunnel near a gorge, where it swerved and entered.
At the end of the tunnel was a cave where there was a small pond.
On the grey rocks circling the edges of the pond, a hunchbacked elder with long white hair tied into a bun and secured with a wooden hairpin.
He was looking at the pond in contemplation while stroking his long white beard.
Although he was thin, he had a tall and sturdy physique, and his figure gave off the certain feeling of mysterious power.
His wise eyes observed the images projected in the Azure Mirrored Pond without revealing any emotions.
The Azure Mirrored Pond was something equivalent to a combination of a drone and 360 degrees of CCTV monitoring the six areas of the Death Island; it not only projects 1080 pixels of image on the surface of the pond but also feedbacks audio.
Images of Bai Meirin and her team getting caught in one of the Mind Chaos Illusion Arrays are currently being shown on the surface.
The elder sighed in disappointment.
"Too bad. I was rooting for their group earlier to reach the peak, but their luck seems to have run out."
Mind Chaos Illusion Array was not entirely inescapable. If you have at least Tier 4 mana or equivalent energy, you can break it by brute force.
In some special cases, individuals with strong mental fortitude can also break free.
The Elder thought he would be able to find good seeds in this scenario, but he had been watching this group for almost an hour without progress.
Rustle—
Sounds of footsteps entered his ears as newcomers headed to the array.
"How tragic; this array will have another group of victims." Another sigh escaped his lips.
He didn’t have the hobby of watching people struggling.
But just as he was about to give up and monitor another area, the Elder saw the newcomers stop just a meter away from the border of the array and not advance.
The hand stroking his beard stopped moving.
The elder’s eyes instantly narrowed, focusing on the young woman who dressed cleanly and differently than the others, seemingly looking for something.
What is she doing?
The guess that she must have noticed the array came to his mind, but it was rejected by him shortly after.
Even he, at Tier 5 warrior, could hardly sense these notorious array formations. There was less likely a chance for someone as young as her to perceive it.
Suddenly, the young woman raised her hand and pointed her fingers in a particular direction where the energy is much more concentrated.
"Ho. Did she really see the array?"
Impossible!
That must be just a coincidence.
The Elder leaned closer.
The spinning hot turtle wheel that was travelling in the gorge earlier appeared in the cave. "Master Tian Shen! Zumo is back! "
A light emerged from the tip of the woman’s fingers, becoming a thin light beam.
A light-element spell?
Did she really see the array and attempt to destroy it with a light-element spell?
But array formation like the Mind Chaos Illusion Array does not fall into the category of dark-element spell.
So, there’s no way it would work.
Tian Shen, the name of the elder sitting on the rock, ignored Zumou’s call and inched closer to the Mirrored Pond again.
But before he could see what happened next, a rolling turtle shell hit him in the back, toppling him into the pond.
Splash—
Elder Tian Shen drank a mouthful of water and was drenched from head to toe in no time.
The turtle shell ceased spinning. A pair of hands and feet emerged first before the rest of the body and head, and when the half turtle and half human boy saw his master fall in the mirrored pond, he shivered in fear.
Elder Tian Shen crawled out of the pond and reprimanded Zumou, "Zumou! Didn’t I tell you not to roll again in my cave?!"
Ever since this boy achieved his human form, he always spins around without thinking as if the place belongs to him.
Elder Tian Shen spit the water out of his mouth.
Next time, he’ll put a bumper on the entrance so as not to become a victim again.
Zumou flinched, lowered his head, and quickly apologized. "Master Tian Shen, I’m sorry I couldn’t stop on time!"
The same apology, but he never learns!
"It’s already the tenth time—"
He was about to twist his disciple’s ear. However, Tian Shen recalled what he had been doing moments ago. He turned around and squatted on the rocks.
To his utter confusion, the people he had been paying attention to were gone, and so were the earlier group who were trapped in the array.
Where did they go?
Were they all swallowed by the quicksand?
But the time was very short for it to happen!
Tian Shen waved his hand, changing the images on the Mirrored Pond until he found what he was looking for.
