The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 20: Does It Hurt?
Why are they dragging me into their fight?
Nancy Hughes was about to head up the stairs and noticed Jasper Yale still following her. "No need to trouble yourself, young master. You should go back."
The man showed no intention of responding to her.
The staircase was very narrow, and Jasper followed closely behind, so Nancy didn’t dare to walk too fast.
When they reached the second floor, the sensor light was broken, and it was pitch dark. Nancy, afraid he might trip, thought of taking out her phone to light the way.
But it was already too late.
Jasper stumbled, and Nancy felt a heavy weight press against her back, causing her to fall forward and kneel on the ground.
Before Jasper could speak, Nancy was already scrambling to get up in a hurry.
"Young master, are you okay?"
The God of Medicine must be served carefully. If he falls and something happens, it’ll be a big deal.
Jasper seemed displeased, "Can anyone live in such a shabby place?"
Nancy’s palms stung, and her knees hurt terribly. "Southcross City isn’t all about mansions and luxury apartments."
She walked awkwardly, and with every step she took, her flesh felt like it was being torn apart.
Nancy reached the front door, took out her keys, and saw Jasper still standing there. "I’m home."
"Open the door."
She felt a tightness at the back of her neck. Was he planning to come in too?
"My mom and sister are home."
Jasper’s tall figure stood behind her imposingly as he raised his hand to press the doorbell.
Nancy quickly inserted the key into the lock.
Before she could open the door, Anne’s voice came through, "Sis, you’re back."
Her voice sounded bright, not weak. It seemed the medicine really worked. She walked over and saw Jasper following inside.
Anne paused for a moment, then excitedly shouted towards the kitchen, "Mom, sis brought a boyfriend home."
There was a sound of a spatula being put down from the kitchen, and when Lindsay Walsh came out, she saw Nancy explaining to Anne.
"He’s not..."
Lindsay spoke with a hint of reproach, "Why didn’t you call earlier? We don’t have much food at home."
Bringing a man home for no reason is bound to cause a misunderstanding. With Anne’s sweet talk, she already called him, "Brother-in-law."
Jasper’s face was tense. What nonsense.
Lindsay came over and grabbed his arm, "Don’t just stand there, have a seat."
Jasper was led to a chair before Nancy stopped them, "Mom, you’ve misunderstood. He’s not my boyfriend. He’s the one who provided the medicine for Anne. You can’t even buy those meds outside."
This made Lindsay even more enthusiastic.
A son-in-law can’t compare to a lifesaver. "You haven’t eaten yet, have you? I’ll go buy more groceries now."
"No need, Mom. He’s already eaten." Nancy hurriedly stopped her mom. Jasper wouldn’t appreciate their home-cooked meals.
"Then I’ll make a cup of tea."
Jasper glanced around. The room was very small, incredibly small. To him, it was just a piece of land the size of a piece of tofu. Despite the size, it was tidy, with numerous storage boxes neatly stacked at the entrance.
"Here, have some tea."
Jasper glanced at the glass cup Mrs. Hughes handed over but didn’t reach out to take it.
She had specially washed it before making tea, but one look at the cup confirmed it wasn’t new.
Jasper parted his thin lips slightly, "No, thank you."
Nancy took the cup and placed it on the table. She didn’t want Lindsay to see Jasper’s disdain.
It was already getting late. Was he not leaving?
Jasper couldn’t sit still anymore and stood up. Nancy quickly moved to see him off, only to find Jasper heading towards the rooms.
She hurriedly followed behind, "Young master."
"Which one is your room?"
He paid no mind to her family being there; Nancy’s expression shifted slightly, "What are you going to do?"
"Just a tour." Jasper then added, "And to talk about Felix Wood."
Nancy had no choice but to open her room door and turn on the bedroom light. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
She saw Jasper walk straight to the window. His car was parked downstairs, half concealed by lush branches.
Nancy Alden was growing impatient, checking her watch. Jasper had been inside for quite a while.
She only asked him to drop by, not to linger.
"Miss Alden, why don’t you give the young master a call?" Hailey Jenkins suggested kindly.
Nancy scowled, "No need. I can’t believe he won’t return home."
Upstairs, Nancy Hughes gently shut the door, walking up behind Jasper, "My family is probably being watched already."
Jasper kept watching downstairs. She could tell he stayed just to rile Nancy Alden up, to make her anxious.
"Young master, give it to me straight. If you don’t want to help, I won’t expect anything."
Finally, Jasper turned his attention to her. "I’ll help you, because I agree that someone like Felix Wood deserves to go to hell."
Nancy’s heart leapt with joy, "I knew you were a good person, young master."
The room carried a faint, warm fragrance. Jasper leaned against the window, his posture straight and elegant. He was a man hard to fathom, yet here he was, agreeing to help Nancy Hughes.
In any case, he’d promised, and that was good enough.
"And about my family, please look after them too, okay?"
"You ask for quite a lot."
"Just these few days, until Felix Wood is dealt with."
Jasper noticed her hands hanging by her sides, trembling slightly, "Injured from the fall?"
"No." It was just a minor injury, nothing significant.
Jasper took a few steps closer to her, "Let me see."
Nancy lifted her palms, both of which had abrasions, still oozing blood.
"What about your legs?"
He had already noticed her limping earlier.
Nancy bent down and slowly rolled up her pants, revealing fair, delicate calves, with both knees injured as well.
"Does it hurt?"
Nancy had to say it hurt; after all, this was indirectly his doing, and it wouldn’t hurt to garner some sympathy.
"Hurts like hell."
She remembered there was iodine in the house, and Nancy limped over to the bedside table.
As she bent down, her legs shone under the light. Her hips were well-shaped, perky and firm.
Jasper found his throat tightening at the sight—this posture...
It was, after all, his favorite posture.
Finally finding the bottle of iodine, she was about to straighten up when a hand pressed on her back.
She turned her head to look behind, "Young master?"
Jasper’s expression remained cold and dim, his hand sliding down her spine until it rested on one side of Nancy’s waist.
There was a hint of desire in Jasper’s eyes, gradually seeping out.
Nancy hurriedly said, "Don’t forget, Miss Alden is still downstairs. She’ll get anxious waiting."
"She’s been waiting, what difference does a little more waiting make?"
Nancy’s room lock wasn’t great. She feared her sister would suddenly come in.
Jasper was convinced she was being intentional, "You’re seducing me."
It was an unjust blame; even in this awkward position, Nancy felt uncomfortable, "Even if I did want to seduce you, young master, I wouldn’t do it at home."
"You like the excitement, indeed. The voices outside add to the thrill."
