Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Young Master, Please Behave Yourself!

Yelena Hughes suddenly withdrew her hand.

But Jasper Yale held on tightly; her face flushed, with a hint of indignation in her words.

"You’re really not afraid of Miss Alden hearing you."

"Why don’t you shout it out loud and see if I’m afraid."

She was afraid, alright?

"Young Master, my daily life is hard enough, Miss Alden finally showed some leniency towards me, can’t you please just cut me some slack?"

Jasper Yale’s gaze entangled with hers, and Yelena Hughes suddenly felt bound by him.

"Don’t make yourself sound so pitiful. Did anyone force you into that place?"

She was speechless, only hoping not to stir up trouble. "But right now, I’m not at The Sovereign Club. Young Master, you’re talking to me behind Miss Alden’s back; aren’t you afraid she’s recording this?"

Yelena Hughes was a journalist; very sensitive.

Jasper Yale laughed softly, his mouth curving slightly, "If that’s really the case, let’s find out."

He stood up after speaking, saw Nancy Alden’s bag still there, went over, and opened it, revealing her phone inside.

Jasper Yale took it out, his face calm and undisturbed, "You’re quite clever; you guessed right."

He walked over to Yelena Hughes and showed her the phone; Yelena’s almond-shaped eyes widened. She had just said it casually, but she never thought Nancy Alden was really recording.

Yelena Hughes recalled their conversation. If Nancy Alden hears this, she’s doomed.

She reached out to grab the phone, but Jasper Yale raised his arm.

Yelena Hughes’s hand froze there, fine, "If Young Master isn’t afraid, neither am I."

Those suggestive words were all said by him; dare he really let Nancy Alden hear them?

Yelena Hughes sat in place, Jasper Yale’s lips curved with an ambiguous smile, "Her little schemes have never changed. If she likes to listen so much, I’ll make her uncomfortable."

"..."

She couldn’t discern whether his words were true or false, but Yelena tried her best to keep her mouth shut.

"Why aren’t you speaking?"

She pressed her lips tightly together; if Nancy Alden really listens to the recording later, she will know she hadn’t said anything, let alone said anything bad about her.

Jasper Yale saw her almost wishing she could stitch her mouth shut, knowing what she was thinking.

He chose not to comply with her wishes.

"I’ll get you some good lingerie next time; it’s not good to keep restraining them like that."

Yelena Hughes met his reckless gaze and protectively crossed her arms over her chest, "You..."

She glanced at the lounge door, biting her words, "Young Master, have some respect."

"Ha, respect?" Playing innocent with me here, "When you needed me, you took off your clothes faster than anyone. Yelena Hughes, have you forgotten that night at Mount Arden Villa..."

Yelena Hughes suddenly stood up, covering Jasper Yale’s mouth with her palm.

The man’s breath was heavy, landing on the back of her hand. Yelena Hughes firmly pressed her palm to his mouth, not letting him utter a word. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"Young Master, we have no grudges; don’t harm me like this."

Jasper Yale wasn’t in a hurry to pull her hand away; with half his face covered, his eyes appeared even deeper, full of teasing, gradually surfacing.

Yelena Hughes’s palm was burning hot; she saw Jasper Yale tuck the arm holding Nancy Alden’s phone behind him.

"Young Master, if I let go, promise you won’t shout or say nonsense, okay?"

Unable to speak, Jasper Yale raised his right brow slightly.

This counts as agreement, right?

"Alright, a promise is a promise."

Yelena Hughes released her hand slightly but still kept a close watch on him.

She saw Jasper Yale’s lips move, "You’re bold enough..."

Yelena Hughes promptly slapped her hand over his mouth; her motion was big, and the force was heavy; Jasper Yale’s nose was almost knocked crooked.

A rush of anger surged across the man’s face as he reached out to pull Yelena Hughes into his arms.

She struggled on Jasper Yale’s lap, feeling the precise and strong muscles through several thin layers of cloth.

Yelena Hughes, not caring about much, directly went for the phone, causing the coffee table under Jasper Yale to wobble from their force.

Bang—

The ashtray hit the floor; though the carpet cushioned it, the sound was still quite loud.

"Jasper?"

From the lounge came Nancy Alden’s voice, "Is something wrong?"

Jasper Yale’s voice was light and casual as if handling some formal business, "I accidentally dropped the ashtray on the floor."

"I’m feeling much better now; come and hold me out."

Yelena Hughes quickly got off him, returning to the sofa, sitting upright formally; Jasper Yale, before leaving, casually placed Nancy Alden’s phone on the table.

He promptly headed towards the lounge.

Yelena Hughes was momentarily stunned; he really just let the phone... continue recording.

When Nancy Alden comes out, won’t she hear everything?

Without thinking, she reached out and hurriedly pressed stop; Yelena Hughes entered the gallery, deleting that recorded segment.

She placed the phone back into Nancy Alden’s bag, just sitting down as Jasper Yale walked out holding her.

Yelena Hughes, due to this maneuver, felt even hotter, her face flushed, fine beads of sweat trickling from her hair.

"Sorry for the wait." Nancy Alden was placed back in her original seat by Jasper Yale.

Yelena Hughes tugged at her mouth’s corner, "No problem."

The interview needed to continue, Nancy Alden pulled out her phone midway, seemingly just to check the time.

But the screen suddenly went dark; she opened the gallery, only to find nothing.

Yelena Hughes flipped through the interview transcript, pretending to know nothing. Nancy Alden was puzzled, wondering if she hadn’t pressed start earlier?

She couldn’t help feeling annoyed again.

With the interview done, Jasper Yale had already booked the restaurant; Nancy Alden insisted on taking Yelena Hughes and Dean Holloway along. "Regarding the report, I need your help; come, let’s have a meal together."

Yelena Hughes didn’t hesitate to refuse, "No need, we have other things to get busy with."

Nancy Alden, though, was persistent, "There’s no reason for you to work hard all day without inviting you for a meal."

"Miss Alden, it’s really unnecessary..."

Neither yielded until Jasper Yale intervened to end the topic.

"Really not going?"

Yelena Hughes heard his unfriendly tone, still about to speak, but saw Jasper Yale looking odd.

Was he thinking of suggesting her colleagues visit The Sovereign Club again?

Yelena Hughes immediately changed her tune, "Alright then, I’m quite hungry. Thanks, Miss Alden, for the invitation."

The restaurant was near the office, and Yelena Hughes followed Dean Holloway’s car, passing a residential area nearing completion.

The two cars nearly parked side by side; Dean Holloway lowered the window, calling out to Yelena Hughes, "Isn’t this the home you’ve been dreaming of?"

Yelena Hughes glanced up, said nothing.

"Once you’ve moved into the new house, you must invite me as your first guest!"

Nancy Alden and Jasper Yale sat in the adjacent car, overhearing much of Dean Holloway’s remarks.

Nancy Alden casually inquired, "Are the prices here very cheap?"

Yelena Hughes’ family background, she could afford a house here?

Of course not, so what now?

Jasper Yale’s face was filled with coldness; did she resort to selling smiles and faces?
