The impact wasn’t light. Nathaniel Nathan let out a muffled grunt, his brow furrowing as he glared at the solid wall. ’Should I just tear this wall down?!’ he wondered.

Vera Xavier let out a snort of laughter, though it wasn’t a very kind one. She took his hand, pulled him over to sit on the bed, and asked, "Do you want some safflower oil for that?"

Nathaniel Nathan nodded. She picked up the bottle of safflower oil and offered it to him, but he didn’t take it, merely shooting her a cold glance.

Resigned to her fate, she poured some safflower oil into her palm and began to gently massage the slightly red and swollen area. Being so close, he could smell her unique, faint feminine scent.

From his angle, he could even glimpse the pale skin of her chest where her collar was slightly open.

Her hands were a little rough from doing farm work, but the pressure she applied was perfect. It was a mixture of slight pain and a tingling itch, each stroke plucking at his heartstrings.

Nathaniel Nathan felt a pang of disappointment. He took the bottle of safflower oil from her, poured some into his palm, and said, "Give me your arm."

Vera Xavier paused for a second, but did as he asked and extended her arm.

Although Vera felt her minor injuries were a small price to pay, she still agreed to his demand. She gave a small nod and said, "Okay."

Vera Xavier had no idea about the complex storm of feelings brewing within him. Noticing the fine beads of sweat on his forehead, she took out a handkerchief and wiped them away for him. "Are you feeling hot?"

"Yeah, your room is really hot," Nathaniel Nathan said with a completely straight face. He then looked at her with his deep, bottomless dark eyes and asked, "Do you mind if I take my clothes off?"

Vera Xavier gasped. She truly never expected him to ask something like that.
