Chapter 119: Chapter One Hundred Sixteen: My Life for You

"Su Mo!"

She walked out of the protective circle of the military vehicle, heading straight towards Su Mo. Zombies were rapidly closing in on her, but her gaze was fixed solely on Su Mo, unswerving.

"Mom!" Ling Ye couldn’t control his urge to climb down from the vehicle, but Su Niang pulled him back and covered his eyes.

Su Mo was busy holding off zombies and, hearing the shout, her ears twitched; she turned her head.

Seeing Su Mo look over, Ling Fang knelt down with a straight posture and kowtowed, "I was wrong. I’ll trade my life for my son’s. Please, take him with you."

Su Mo’s pupils constricted. She hadn’t even had time to react when she saw Ling Fang, having completed her kowtow, allow the zombies to pounce on her without resistance.

"Fuck!" She cursed loudly and turned, summoning her superpower as she sprinted towards Ling Fang.

With a swift motion, she dispatched the zombies surrounding Ling Fang, but Ling Fang was already covered in bites and wounds on her legs and arms.

"My... life for you," Ling Fang stammered out her last words, her body starting to convulse uncontrollably. In the second before she turned, she cast a radiant smile toward the military vehicle, her pale pupils seemingly filled with a myriad of memories.

Su Mo’s lips tightened, her expression dark. Why did it always have to be her who bore such burdens? She looked down with a sigh and, before Ling Fang could fully turn, she chopped off her head.

The wind seemed to grow stronger, cutting through Su Mo, chilling her heart.

"Boss! The car’s ready!" Jianxiong, having finished refueling the car, quickly climbed onboard.

Lu Chen walked swiftly to Su Mo, giving the corpse on the ground a cold glance. He grabbed Su Mo’s wrist and started leading her forward, "It’s time for us to leave."

"Yeah," she nodded, pushing down the emotions inside her. She placed Ling Fang’s body into her System Bag and ran alongside him.

Li Chuan and Sheng Yuan also managed to get their vehicle fueled and started.

They settled in the car, and aside from Su Niang, no one else paid much attention to the newly added Ling Ye.

The military vehicle led the way, with Li Chuan and Sheng Yuan’s car following, intending to trail the two small cars escaping ahead.

Suddenly, a massive creature leapt down from the rooftop of building number one without warning, crushing the small car at the front and completely blocking the entrance to the Happiness District.

"What is... that?" Jianxiong slammed on the brakes, his eyes as wide as bells.

He wasn’t the only one; everyone was incredulously staring at the monster before them.

It lay on the dented roof of the car, its back made up of countless severed hands tightly packed and layered upon one another, resembling wings made from human hands stuck onto its back.

The creature stretched out its two-meter-long arms that were not only covered with palms but also segments of severed legs.

On its enormous head, twice the size of a normal human’s, the broken legs from its arms propped up its body against the metal.

Beneath its terrifying form was a gigantic belly, split open in the middle, filled with sharp teeth.

This was the creature Su Mo had seen in the security room that day. Her heart thundered as she tightened her grip on Lu Chen’s cold palm, her own becoming damp with sweat.

With one look, they knew they were not on the same level as this monster.

From the flattened car, fresh red blood spread out. The creature lifted limbs that had flown out of the crumpled vehicle and tossed them straight into its belly.

Jianxiong drove the car in reverse at high speed, and this action reminded Lu Chen of what Li Qian had said earlier this morning.

He held her hand and said coldly, "These things are locked up downstairs to eat each other?"

"Definitely" Su Mo really wanted to curse, "These people locked the zombies downstairs without feeding them, creating such a thing."

"Is there another back door in this district that we can use?" Jianxiong was driving the car in reverse, asking anxiously.

Zhao Changsheng turned her head and locked her gaze directly onto Ling Ye, who was in Su Niang’s arms. She grabbed his collar and lifted him out, her fox-like eyes sparking with electricity as she snarled fiercely, "You little brat, where is the back door of your district!"

"Don’t..." Su Niang tried to say something to stop her, but with the urgent situation at hand, she swallowed her words.

Ling Ye, being intimidated like this, didn’t let the tears fall; his large eyes were hollow. He let Zhao Changsheng shake him by the collar, not uttering a word with his mouth shut.

"Give him to me," Su Mo patted the seat front of her, taking Ling Ye from Zhao Changsheng’s hands.

He was like a lifeless doll. Su Mo held him on her lap and gently stroked his head. Her movements were gentle, but her words caused the small body to tremble.

"Your mother traded her life for yours, giving you to us. If you behave, I’ll give you her body back."

Su Mo looked down at him with a cold expression, "If you don’t want it, I’ll give her to that monster."

"I want it!" Ling Ye finally showed emotion. He lifted his head, his large eyes red and glaring fiercely at Su Mo, his teeth clenched, "I know the way I sneaked out. I know it."

Su Mo looked away, not wanting to see his eyes full of hatred. She handed him back to Su Niang and said softly, "Lead us there."

"There’s a back door by the wall on the right side of building twelve at the very end," Ling Ye said resentfully.

Once Jianxiong knew, he immediately steered the car and rushed toward the destination.

Li Chuan drove the car personally, with Sheng Yuan’s people closely following behind.

The center-parted woman’s car had escaped for a bit, but that huge creature was right in front of their car. Standing up, it was three meters tall, and those long arms hanging by its side smeared with a dense cluster of palms waved at them.

The people inside the car immediately drove in reverse at high speed.

The monster, having missed, let out a long howl with its huge head thrown back, the pair of flesh wings on its back faintly trembling. It took large strides and rushed toward the small car at high speed.

The four cars drove frantically on the district’s straight roadway.

"Damn it! They’ve drawn the monster here," Zhao Changsheng cursed softly as she looked out.

Jianxiong pushed the car’s speed to the limit and drove straight ahead.

Zombies were continuously surging up around them. They had to get from the entrance to building twelve inside, and in between, they would face countless zombies’ attacks.

Their military vehicle had reinforced spear-like spikes on the front, which quickly became filled with the bodies of zombies. With the metal plating pushing these bodies, the vehicle’s speed dropped repeatedly.

Not only their vehicle but the ones following behind were no better off.

The center-parted woman’s car had no armaments, and the attacks from the superpower users aboard were far from enough. The bullets and superpowers had almost no effect on the monster. In no time, their car was also dragging a mass of zombies, with tires clogged with all sorts of limbs and body parts.

The consequence of the reduced speed was that they were caught up by the monster behind them.

The monster’s belly opened and closed, the source of the putrid odor emanating from there. It lunged forward forcefully, clinging onto the back of the small car, with countless palms pressed against the car.

The creature covered the entire car with its body. The people inside could clearly hear the sound of the car’s metal roof being chewed up by teeth, and the car doors were wrapped so tightly by the monster’s arms that they couldn’t be opened from the inside.
