The Classmate Who Is Adored by Everyone Smiles Teasingly Only at Me-Chapter 1Volume 3 .9 - November Sun
November Sun 9
“You’re going to do it properly, right? Seriously, no pranks.”
“Of course! I wouldn’t do anything like that.”
“Really?”
Chika nodded vigorously, though Sōma found her completely untrustworthy.
However, he no longer had the energy or willpower to keep doubting.
He let himself be pulled along to the Satomi household.
“Mom, I’m home. Is the bath free right now?”
“Welcome back. Oh, Sōma-kun is with you. The bath is available, but what are you planning?”
“I’m going to wash his hair as a thank you for helping me with swimming practice today.”
“Oh, that’s quite nice of you. Make sure to wash it thoroughly and carefully then.”
“Okay!”
Chika’s mother didn’t try to stop her.
With a smile that seemed to enjoy the situation, she pointed to the changing room.
“…Good grief.”
Sōma sighed as he was ushered into the changing room, where he put on the surf shorts he had been wearing just an hour before and tightly wrapped a bath towel around himself.
Appearing in front of a girl with just a towel felt like insufficient armor.
“I’m ready.”
He entered the bathroom, sat down on a white bath chair, and then gave Chika, who had been waiting outside the changing room, permission to enter.
“Excuse me then.”
He was a bit worried she might come in wearing a swimsuit, but when Chika opened the door, she was dressed in a perfectly normal T-shirt and sweatpants.
“Good. You’re dressed normally.”
“Don’t say rude things. I’ve never worn anything strange.”
“Are you talking in your sleep?”
He had seen her in various outrageous outfits both last month and this month.
Each one was etched clearly in Sōma’s memory.
“I think there’s an appropriate outfit for every occasion. I thought this was the right thing to wear for washing a puppy, so I changed into it.”
“Who’s a puppy here?”
“Here comes the water.”
To silence him, she began to pour warm water over his head with the shower.
“Now, I’ll start washing.”
She lathered up the shampoo in her palms and began to wash his hair rhythmically.
“I see, washing someone else’s head feels like this.”
As she moved her hands diligently, Chika muttered to herself.
“Is it interesting to wash someone else’s head?”
“Well, it’s intriguing and refreshing.”
While letting himself be washed, Sōma asked, and Chika nodded.
“I’ve always been the one getting washed, so it’s really nice to be in the opposite role.”
“Hold on a minute. Don’t tell me you still get your hair washed by your parents?”
“Of course not. I wash it myself now, no matter what.”
She denied it, but her voice lacked conviction.
“…Until when did they wash it for you?”
“U-until September…”
“That was just recently!”
“But I couldn’t help it! My mom really loves washing my hair, and I couldn’t say no.”
“I’ve never seen a high school student who still gets their head washed by their parents…”
“Don’t talk about me like I’m some rare animal!”
“You’re definitely a rare animal.”
The lively banter continued as the hair washing went on.
“I’m going to rinse out the shampoo foam, so please close your eyes.”
He closed his eyes tightly as instructed, and warm water poured over his head, washing away the bubbly foam.
“Do you feel better?”
“Yeah, thanks.”
The once coarse hair had returned to its usual texture.
As he thanked her, Chika seemed to come up with a mischievous idea, leaning close to his ear with a playful smile.
“Since we’re at it, shall I wash your body as well?”
“M-my body!?”
He couldn’t help but imagine the scene of Chika’s foam-covered hands caressing his body.
“No, no, no! That’s absolutely out of the question!”
Sōma vehemently shook his head in refusal, but Chika, picking up a bottle of body soap, said,
“Is that so? I would think it’s quite normal to wash not just the head but the whole body if you’re washing a puppy.”
After spending such intense months together, he knew her mind all too well.
She was teasing him, but at the same time, she was more than half serious.
If Sōma nodded now, she would really wash his body.
“I-I’m not a puppy…”
“Is that so? That’s a shame.”
While blushing, he somehow managed to squeeze out the words, and Chika gently placed the body soap bottle back in its place before attempting to leave the bathroom.
However, she paused for a moment.
Through the steam, the girl seemed to be wearing a gentle smile.
“Sōma-san, thank you so much for always going along with what I want to do. Today, I even got to try two things I wanted.”
She must be talking about practicing swimming and washing someone’s hair.
“There’s no need to thank me. I’ve had you taste-test a lot, and it’s also been a huge help. We have a cooperative relationship, don’t we?”

“Yes, it’s wonderful that we can help each other out for our mutual benefit. I really like our relationship with Sōma-san as it is now. I truly hope we can stay together forever. So, please continue to work with me in the future.”
“…Sure.”
As Sōma nodded, a droplet fell with a plip onto the tiled floor.
“Oh, right. I’ve put a bath towel in the basket in the washroom, so please use it when you get out of the bath.”
Chika returned to her usual cheerful tone and, this time for sure, left the bathroom.
“Stay together forever, huh?”
That was probably impossible.
Two years later, when they graduated from high school, the paths of Sōma, who aspired to be a patissier, and Chika, who did not, would undoubtedly diverge.
It would be impossible to see each other every day as they did now.
No, perhaps even five months later, when they advanced to the second year and the classes were divided, they might become distant then.
There were countless other triggers that could break their current relationship.
