The Comeback of the Charming Farmer's Wife-Chapter 2354 - 2356: Resignation
"Are you Luo Linfei?" The Prince of Yueluo turned his gaze to her.
"Of course!"
"How come you’re here?"
Luo Linfei sneered, "Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that? I came to escort my cousin for her wedding, and it got late yesterday, so I didn’t go back. Is there a problem?"
The Prince of Yueluo wasn’t entirely familiar with the customs of Great Zhou, so he didn’t expose the obvious flaws in Luo Linfei’s explanation.
"Prince of Yueluo?" Just then, Yang Chuxia entered, "Why are you here?"
The overly dramatic performance stung the Prince of Yueluo’s eyes.
"This is Linfei’s room, you guys..."
The Prince of Yueluo didn’t speak. Who can speak calmly when a plot backfires on them?
"Linyu, hurry and help Linfei get dressed." Yang Chuxia continued, "Prince of Yueluo, please leave the room. You’re too eager. The marriage has already been decreed, it’s just a matter of time, no need to be so impatient."
"Nothing happened between us last night!" The Prince of Yueluo coldly snorted, "I was drugged."
"Prince of Yueluo, if that’s what you say, then let’s go argue before the Emperor." Yang Chuxia’s face fell upon hearing his words, "You’re a dignified prince, yet instead of staying at the post house, you ran off to the Yang Family. For what reason? Why don’t you discuss it with the Emperor?"
Upon hearing her words, the Prince of Yueluo’s expression turned uglier. He couldn’t deny it, given the people involved. Moreover, last night’s events were his fault in the first place. They simply turned the tables on him, and now on the land of Great Zhou, even if it reached the palace, he would still be in the wrong.
As he turned and saw Luo Linfei and Luo Linyu coming out together, he found Luo Linfei even prettier, his eyes flashing.
"Prince of Yueluo, in our Great Zhou, a woman would be scolded for such things," Yang Chuxia reminded him as he remained silent.
"Hasn’t the Emperor already decreed the marriage? That makes us husband and wife, so isn’t it normal to do such things?"
Yang Chuxia continued, "But you haven’t held the wedding yet, so you’re not considered married."
The Prince of Yueluo, still thinking about Luo Linfei’s peach blossom-like beauty, responded instinctively,
"Holding it would solve that."
"That’s right!" Yang Chuxia immediately responded joyfully, "I’ll inform the Emperor right away to have the palace prepare for your wedding sooner. By the time you return to Yueluo, there might even be a young prince."
Hearing "young prince," the Prince of Yueluo suddenly realized what he had said.
A great sense of regret filled his heart, as marrying someone one desires and being forced to marry another are certainly not the same.
But fortunately, Luo Linfei was prettier, which eased his mind considerably.
As a prince, he couldn’t go back on his word, so he nodded, "Hmm!"
The Prince of Yueluo left with a twisted expression on his face, and before Yang Chuxia could deliver the message to the palace, the Emperor was already aware.
Thus, just as the Prince of Yueluo returned to the post house, the imperial edict to hold the wedding in five days arrived.
Looking at the bright yellow imperial edict, the Prince of Yueluo felt as if all of Great Zhou had conspired against him, thinking that Great Zhou was truly a troubled place, and it was best to leave as soon as possible.
He had this thought, and so did Great Zhou. Hence, the Ministry of Rites, in cooperation with the House of the Imperial Clan, swiftly organized the wedding.
Once the wedding festivities were over after five days, the Prince of Yueluo finally bid farewell and left.
