The Crowned Greed: Transmigrated into a Demonic Dragon-Chapter 146: Kill Yourself
"That’s... that... why?!"
Elizabeth’s jaw almost hit the floor, sensing the round and smooth object in her hand.
Unable to believe what she was sensing with her spell, she moved her hand slowly, touching all the similar objects on the floor.
There were 250 of them, all of them were identical to something she knew very well..
"Cores of Existence?!"
"Yes, I... happened to have some." Dante admitted, though his expression changed for a moment under the mask.
"No! I mean... Why are you showing me this?!"
Why had he suddenly decided to give her 250 Cores of Existence? They were too valuable to be given to her for no reason.
Dante sighed and sat on the ground: "I’m Rank 2 now, so I don’t need them. You need only 250 more to advance, right? You can start absorbing them now."
"But... you’re doing too much..." Elizabeth lowered her head and knelt, sighing before absorbing the first core.
Dante patted her shoulder lightly: "It’s okay, really. These cores aren’t even mine, I’m just hoping that giving you some would piss off the owner."
"Huh?" Elizabeth stopped absorbing cores and frowned: "Why? And does that mean you stole the cores?"
"Not really..." Dante shook his head: "I just think that using the cores in a selfless way is the last thing he wants me to do. He isn’t really a good guy."
Elizabeth had a lot of questions in her mind, but she decided to dismiss them and trust him for now.
In fact, Dante hadn’t spoken a single lie, including the fact that the owner of these cores was a bad guy. She had to trust him after he said that.
While Elizabeth was absorbing the cores one after another, Dante’s eyes were fixed on a black centipede that was lying casually on a bed.
"You could have asked for the method to use the Rank 1 cores, you know." Greed said lazily: "I wouldn’t have minded. I really can’t refuse my descendant if he asked me for any favour."
Dante clenched his fist secretly: ’Then tell me... How can I remove the slaving sigils from Ruby?’
"Kill yourself." Greed answered instantly.
’Huh?’
"I’m not joking, actually. Killing yourself will free her immediately. The most direct method to free someone from that sigil is to kill the owner."
Dante frowned deeply: ’I’m sure this isn’t the only way to free her. That dark entity had a method to free the slaves from his kind.’
Greed nodded: "Yes, you can, but his method won’t work. The sigil I use on humans is different from the one I use on Unlights. If you want to free her, you should simply become Rank 5 and understand the method I used to dismantle it."
"Other than that, any other method requires Grade 5 materials."
"..."
"What? Kill yourself and free the poor girl. What happened to all your selflessness? Hehehehe."
After a few moments of silence, Elizabeth suddenly stood up: "I’m so close! I’ll quickly sit on a bed and absorb the last one."
Without waiting for Dante’s response, Elizabeth excitedly ran to a bed and sat on it before absorbing the last core.
The next moment, the World Runes appeared around her.
When Dante saw them, he couldn’t help but notice the difference between her runes and his.
The runes that appeared for him came in different colors and were enough to fill an entire room, but for Elizabeth, there were only two colors, reflecting her mana and her Light Aspect, and they were barely enough to cover her.
"I’m starting to feel sleepy... give me a few minutes..." Elizabeth finally took off the blindfold and closed her eyes, letting the runes surround her like a cocoon.
That phenomenon was noticed by the other people in the camp, but knowing that the mysterious man who brought them food was with her, they didn’t interact.
’What now?’ Dante lay on the floor, thinking about his next step.
Should he go to random places with Ruby as an attempt to find more parts of Greed and destroy them?
’But then I’d be truly using her. Allowing her to do whatever she wants and giving her specific orders aren’t the same.’
He could also change the place he lived in and finally go to a good city. The problem of his misfortune was technically fixed, and the mask ensured that he wouldn’t be detected by anyone.
Unfortunately, there were some hidden barriers preventing him from living the life he wanted.
’I still don’t know what to do to get Greed out of my body and soul. He might be planning something, and I don’t know if the dark entity is going to just replace the seal after the three year period ends.’
’Not to mention Beatrice’s son and her wife. They might be just stuck in the White Abyss for now, those two are supposed to be hard to kill and I don’t want to be caught by surprise.’
Every time Dante fixed a problem, another replaced it. Why couldn’t he be born with the Fortune Aspect or the Luck Aspect if it existed?
’I really hate my life...’
Sighing helplessly, he stood up and waited behind Elizabeth until the runes slowly started to disappear.
Her eyelids twitched briefly, suggesting that she was about to wake up, and after a moment, her eyes finally opened.
Dante smiled softly: "How does it feel to be Rank 2—"
"Wait!" Elizabeth straightened herself instantly and looked at Dante with shock: "D-Dante, are you okay?"
Dante frowned, this wasn’t supposed to be the reaction of someone who had just advanced to Rank 2.
"No, are you okay? What’s wrong with you?"
Elizabeth narrowed her eyes instead of answering, seemingly examining Dante’s body.
After a few seconds, she asked seriously: "Dante, are you sad, angry, or feeling anything bad?"
Dante’s frown deepened, but before he could answer with "no," he remembered that it’d be a lie.
"I mean... maybe a bit."
Elizabeth’s eyes widened at his answer: "A bit? That’s a lie! I can now see your lies and emotions!"
"Eh?" Dante blinked, then the realization finally struck him.
’What the hell is wrong with the saintess class? Why would a saintess need to see someone’s emotions—oh, never mind, it’s understandable.’
Of course a saintess had to see emotions. Weren’t they mostly dealing with people? Knowing someone’s real emotions suited the other ability of seeing lies.
"Did... anything happen to you recently?" Elizabeth asked, looking at Dante with concern.
"Just a few problems, you don’t have to worry about." Dante scratched the back of his neck and added: "And is that a new ability or an improvement to the first one?" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Improvement..." Elizabeth lowered her head in disappointment, seeing that Dante wasn’t willing to answer her: "I think my first ability includes the emotion concept in lying. But I can’t see your emotions fully... I think I can only see if they’re good or bad emotions."
"And here is the problem, I can only see a sea of chaos in your emotions! I... I can help you if you have anything to say..."
"Oh..." Dante raised an eyebrow.
’Is it that bad? My mood indeed isn’t that good, but I don’t think it’s so bad. It’s been a while since that incident.’
Dante was now smiling and talking casually with Elizabeth and the others. If his emotions were truly that bad, he wouldn’t be able to do that, right?
’...Right?’
Dante rubbed his chin and started thinking seriously about that.
He wasn’t an expert when it came to emotions. Was it normal to feel some numbness despite having heavy emotions?
While thinking about that, Dante subconsciously touched his mask.
’Can I use the mask’s passive ability—Nobody—to hide my emotions from her?’
Dante’s eyes sparkled when he thought about that. It could even hide his demonic energy, so why wouldn’t it be able to hide his bad emotions?
And with that logic, he might also be able to hide his Wheel of Luck from anyone with a similar aspect, and maybe even his stats from anyone with an ability similar to Dante’s silver eye.
’I’ll think about that later.’
Although the idea felt interesting, Dante didn’t want to change his emotions all of a sudden in front of Elizabeth.
’I’ll test this the next time I visit the camp.’
Dante shrugged and asked: "What about your new ability? Is it active or passive?"
Once again, Elizabeth felt that same disappointment, and she couldn’t force Dante to talk about what happened to him.
She closed her eyes, moving through the knowledge in her mind to understand it by herself.
She didn’t have anything that could reveal her runes, and she wouldn’t see them even if she had one. She had no choice but to rely on herself.
After some time, her expression changed, her lips curling upward slightly: "It’s an active ability related to light."
"Apparently, I can make the light that reaches your eyes go to someone else. They will see what you’re supposed to see, and I might make you see what someone else is seeing."
After she finished her explanation, she immediately used her new ability, and to Dante’s surprise, his vision changed.
"What the hell?"
It was the cook.
And for some reason... he was kissing the meat.
