The Cultivator's Reborn to 1970s-Chapter 179 - 147: Moving Out
Chapter 179: Chapter 147: Moving Out
Little Tao?
Unnecessarily an extra person appeared; Grandma Sun, Zhao Li, and Mo Yuanle, well aware of the situation, acted as if they hadn’t heard it.
"Lao Wu, you take this." Grandma Sun handed the passbook to Mo Yuanle. He was fully responsible for the house, free to handle it as he saw fit. Being the only man in the family, these matters were his to decide. Grandma Sun and Zhao Li had many requests, with Zhao Li taking charge of the interior design and decoration of Lan Tian’s house.
Mo Yuanle was not used to riding in cars. Sometimes he would walk to check on the house, and Lan Tian had seen him come back dust-streaked and dusty several times, which saddened Lan Tian, prompting him to buy him a bicycle. Afterwards, Mo Yuanle rode the bicycle to check on the house.
The nearby villages all knew that a new family had moved here and often saw Mo Yuanle strolling around. Knowing he was looking for workers for the house, the local villagers came to test out, and Mo Yuanle picked a dozen strong men and set a date to start work.
"We can’t just keep living here," said Grandma Sun after dinner, with the family of four gathered in Lan Tian’s house, "We need to figure something out. Someone has to oversee the construction, and it’s quite far to our home. It takes almost half a day to get there and it’s quite laborious."
Grandma Sun was still being polite; it would take less than half a day to walk there from Mr. Mo’s house. With her and Zhao Li living here, they were hardly able to help at all, everything depended solely on Mo Yuanle.
Lan Tian wanted to buy another bicycle, but Grandma Sun was too old to ride one and Zhao Li didn’t know how to bicycle either.
"I think we should do the same as in Mo Village, just set up a shack beside the worksite that can hold people. All the materials are ready. I’ll move there with Yuangle. Aunt, what do you think?" Zhao Li proposed.
That’s the usual in rural areas; if there are relatives, one would temporarily stay with them; if not, they’d put up a shack and live in it.
"I agree, let’s make the shack a bit bigger, and I’ll move in too," Grandma Sun said. "I’m used to doing chores in the countryside; living here and doing nothing actually feels wrong. It makes me lazy, and even my bones feel rusty."
It was obvious to them all; neither Grandma Sun nor Zhao Li was comfortable living here, which was why they were eager to move out.
"That’s settled then," Grandma Sun clapped her hand, and so the matter was decided.
"I’m moving too," Lan Tian said. With the family all moving out, she wanted to join them, as the family should share joys and hardships.
"No moving. Just stay here," Grandma Sun scolded Lan Tian. "It’s convenient for you to go to school, and with the house construction, it’s all messy around. How can you study properly? Don’t add to the trouble," firmly disagreeing.
Lan Tian pouted, obviously unhappy, and looked to Mo Yuanle for help. Mo Yuanle, seeing Lan Tian’s aggrieved expression, looked at Grandma Sun and said, "Your grandma makes sense, move back when the house is finished."
Even Mo Yuanle wasn’t supporting her. Lan Tian huffed, "Uncle, you don’t care about me anymore."
Zhao Li almost burst into laughter seeing the uncle and niece like that.
Grandma Sun also found it funny and slapped her hand, "Stop pestering your uncle, I make the decision on this matter."
Lan Tian pouted; alright, this case was lost, pestering her uncle was useless too.
Later, Mo Yuanle set up a simple shack next to the old house, and Zhao Li and Grandma Sun also moved out to live there. They called people from the village to help, and within a few days, they had built a large shack.
Once the shack was ready, Lan Tian went to check its sturdiness, worried that a heavy rain could collapse it and trap the three underneath, leaving her nowhere to even cry.
After a thorough check, the shack seemed quite sturdy. To be safe, Lan Tian laid a small defensive Array inside it; unless the earth split open, the shack wouldn’t fall.
Chunhua arrived half a month after Mo Yuanle. She stayed in a small hotel initially, and after settling down, she came to find Lan Tian, hugging her with tearful eyes.
"...Lan Tian, even my sisters-in-law speak this way about me; it hurts my feelings," Chunhua said. She hadn’t been oblivious to the village gossip. Being a maiden, it was hard when her sisters-in-law constantly made snide remarks, insinuating she was an old maid.
"You’ve known them for some time now; getting angry with them only upsets you," Lan Tian comforted her, patting her back. "Your mother is still around, your marriage is not for them to decide."
Chunlai’s wife was a troublemaker, always causing issues even when unnecessary, and couldn’t take even a slight remark, easily provoked and essentially thoughtless. frёewebηovel.cѳm
Jun Guo’s wife was also troublesome, appearing timid and fearful but always scheming; Chunlai’s wife was merely her pawn.
It was one thing for the villagers to gossip, but for her own family to speak so, it was a tremendous struggle for Chunhua.
