The prince was in a great mood all day and it didn't escape his mother's attention. The beautiful woman knew her son very well to guess that something really good must be happening to him.

After Prince Mars shoot the bullseye ten times in a row with great precision to everyone's applause, his mother came to his side and gave him water to freshen up.

"You did so well today," she praised her son with a broad smile. "Nobody can shoot arrows better than you in our entire kingdom. I am so proud of you."

"Thank you, Mother. I have a great teacher," replied the prince with a smile identical to his mother's.

Queen Elara was a stunning woman in her mid 40's. She gave birth to Mars when she was 20, and he was the only child born to her that survived infancy.

He was the apple of her eye, her beloved, and she spoiled him to bits.

Mars admired his mother greatly and secretly he wished to find a wife like her. Sadly... that would never happen because of his curse. From early on, he had to stay away from any women to avoid killing innocent victims.

"Your teacher also taught your cousins, but none of them are as good as you. My son is the best!"

Prince Mars only smiled wider when he heard his mother's compliment. He knew parents were the most biased toward their children.

"That's because I was raised by the best mother in the world," he responded. He hugged his mother's waist and walked with her to the stage where the king sat and watch the archers shoot their arrows to hit the target. "I have good news I would like to share with you after Father's birthday celebration."

"Really? Is that the reason why you are smiling so much today?" His mother narrowed her eyes in a probing look, looking at the man intently.

The man chuckled and nodded. "Yes."

"Oh, I can't wait!" Queen Elara was beaming with happiness. She couldn't wait for the events and the feast to end so she could immediately hear what her son had to share with them.

The king turned 50 this year. He was an average looking man but he was a fearless warrior when he was young and had been conquering kingdom after kingdom in the continent of Terra.

During his reign, he had grown the Draec Kingdom into the biggest and the most feared empire in the whole continent. Today, so many representatives from their colonies came to attend his birthday celebration.

Princes and knights from their colonies joined the sword-fighting and archery competitions to show their skills, but none of them could match his only son's skills. He won every tournament there was to win.

The king was so proud of his son. The monarch figured today was a good time to start showing their colonies how formidable his son was and slowly introduced him to them as the future king.

"You won all the titles," King Jared Strongmoor said to his son when he saw Mars and Queen Elara come near him. "And seem to be in a very good mood."

"Father and Mother are so alike. Nothing can escape your attention," Mars chuckled and nodded. "I slept well last night."

"Is that so? Did the court physician prescribe you a new sleeping potion?" The king asked with interest.

Mars shook his head. "No. But I've got something better to help me sleep at night."

His parents looked at each other with furrowed brows.

"What do you mean something better?" The queen was curious to know. "What is it?"

The prince smiled faintly as he answered his mother's question. "Peace of mind."

From the author:

Hello! Thank you so much for giving this book a chance and read it. Initially, I chose the title "The Cursed Prince" for this book because it was quite straightforward. When I chose that title, I hadn't even got the names of the characters.

However, as the story progresses, I realized that I used the nickname "The Devil" so often and even the chapter titles are mostly "the devil this" or "the devil that".

So, I figured, why not just change the title to suit the story. It's about Emmelyn and The Devil :).

That's how we now got the new title "Emmelyn In The Devil's Den".

What do you think about this change? Do you like the new title, or do you prefer the old one?

What vibe did you get with this title and the old one? Please let me know, so I could think of the best title for this book before it gets contracted.

Once a book is contracted, it would be such a hassle and close to impossible to change it.

Btw, I really, really like this story. It came to me out of nowhere last Sunday, and suddenly I am already writing it into a book. It has been a very pleasant ride so far.

I understand that you want more chapters, and fast. Hahaha. I want that too. Unfortunately, I am not an octopus with eight hands that I could just write this, and other stories at the same time.

I have two other on-going books on this platform. So, I will try to divide my time equally. I also have a full-time job as a freelancer and a single mother to two young kids. So, I'm actually lucky that I can even breathe. XD

There will be days when I can publish more chapters and there will come days when I will be crazily busy with my job, that I cannot publish anything.

If that happened, please understand. I will try to make up for them when I can.

By the way, If you haven't already read my other books, I'd suggest you check them out while waiting for more chapters from this book.

"Finding Stardust" is a fantasy romance about a girl from another planet. It has 3 doting male-leads. It's my first try at the reverse-harem genre. I love the story and the FL is smart and scheming. I love her to bits.

"The Prince Who Cannot Fall In Love & The Missing Heiress" is next. The long-ass title basically summarizes the story... haha. Check it out. It's good too.

If you want something even better (because it's completed with 3 standalone stories inside the book) with many doting husbands and fluffy romance, you can also check "The Alchemists". It's three fantasy romance stories about immortal people in the modern world.

One man never fell in love after walking the earth for 438 years, the other one couldn't get over the only woman he had ever loved even after 100 years. And... what happened when an immortal didn't know he was immortal?
