The Dark Extra: Awakening of SSS-Skill Demon Emperor Legacy-Chapter 93: Disguise Earring
Chapter 93: Disguise Earring
Merchant Lo opened the database panel and swiped through the pages one by one. He was sure he had an item like that, though no one had ever tried to buy it—most people thought it was useless.
Still, with Agares’s current situation, where he had to stay in hiding, the best option he had was to get that magical accessory and fully hide his identity.
Merchant Lo tapped on an item shaped like an earring, which was simply placed against the earlobe.
The item floated above Lo’s palm, spinning clockwise as an infographic appeared from it.
As expected, the infographic explained the item’s function. Agares narrowed his eyes and carefully looked at the data.
[Item: Moonlight Earring]
[Level: High]
[Category: Accessory]
[Description: The moonlight stored within the small gem on the earring emits powerful magic to generate a sustained illusion. The wearer becomes unrecognizable. Ideal for disguise.]
[Cost: 600 Monster Cores]
From that panel, Agares could learn a lot about the earring—its power, quality, and price. Everything was clearly presented with nothing hidden.
’I’d rather try this than wear a face mask,’ Agares thought.
"Can I try it first?" asked Agares. The man in front of him shook his head.
Customers could only try items after purchasing them. Lo strictly enforced this rule for everyone—Agares included.
"No, Sir. If you want to try it, you’ll have to buy it first."
"But don’t worry, I guarantee the quality of that item."
Agares fell silent, then shifted his gaze toward the earring in Lo’s hand. He had guessed Lo to refuse. With no other choice, Agares decided to buy it.
"Fine."
[Payment Successful]
[Item: Moonlight Earring – High Quality || 1x || 600 Monster Cores]
[Total: 600 Monster Cores]
Agares handed over a black pouch containing 600 monster cores.
Lo gave him the earring, which Agares immediately put on. Since it was a single earring, Agares placed it on his right ear.
Moonlight shimmered from the gem in the earring, spreading over Agares’s entire body in an instant. After five seconds, the light faded, leaving no visible sign of its effect.
"Did it work?" Agares asked.
"Of course it worked."
"You can still recognize me?" Agares asked again.
"I know that item—and I knew who you were before you put it on. Of course I know."
Lo looked ahead, his gaze drifting behind Agares. He smiled—it was time for Agares to see how effective the earring really was.
"Hmm, I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere before."
"Hey, come here, guys," said Lo, catching Agares off guard.
Several adventurers approached Lo’s shop, asking why he had called them over. Lo smiled, then changed his expression to panic and pointed ahead at the cloaked man he "mistook" for Agares.
"I’m not an adventurer, but is that man Agares?"
"WHAT?!" Agares gasped.
Five or six adventurers approached and looked closely at him. They pulled posters from their inventories and tried to compare the sketch on the poster to Agares’s face.
"No, that’s not him. Besides, isn’t Agares already dead?" said another adventurer.
"Oh, is that so? Sorry—my world is trade. I don’t know much about what happens in the adventurer world."
Agares finally realized what Lo had done. Since Lo knew his true identity, he had summoned adventurers who didn’t. They hadn’t seen the moment when Agares put on the earring.
The result? They didn’t recognize him—and they believed Agares was dead. That was a big win. It meant Agares could start a new identity under a new name.
"Thanks, Merchant Lo."
"You’re welcome. Good luck."
After finishing his shopping, Agares walked away with Aoi still perched on his shoulder.
During the walk, Agares kept the earring on. However, Aoi could still recognize him—she had seen the moment he wore the earring.
His steps halted when they arrived at the gate of Milenia’s residence. Two guards stepped forward and crossed their spears, blocking his path.
"Starting today, Lady Milenia will no longer receive any visitors," one of the guards said.
"Leave now."
’Looks like this earring really works,’ Agares thought.
For now, Agares removed the earring. Light flared briefly around him, then faded. The guards gasped in shock—the man before them was Agares.
"Sir Agares, please forgive our rudeness."
"It’s fine. You were just doing your duty."
They stepped aside, opening the way for him to enter. The doors to Milenia’s home opened. Agares entered with Aoi on his shoulder, but the living room was empty.
He walked up to the second floor and checked around. Milenia wasn’t in the lounge. When Agares peeked into her bedroom, he smiled—Milenia was lying on the bed, sound asleep.
"Looks like she was exhausted today," Agares said.
She had handled many duties early that morning, meeting people and checking the city outskirts.
Milenia was starting to show her responsibility as the city’s ruler. That’s why, by midday, she used the opportunity to rest for a while.
Not wanting to disturb her, Agares and Aoi left the room and walked back down the stairs. They stepped into the backyard, filled with flowers and neatly trimmed grass.
Ahead of them was a small pavilion with a table in the center. According to the maids, Milenia used to sit there to reflect when she was sad or disappointed.
Some maids had even seen her there all day—without food or drink—head lowered, crying softly.
Yes—it had been the fifth anniversary of her friends’ deaths.
Aoi walked toward the pavilion alone, while Agares remained by the back door. He couldn’t imagine how lonely Milenia had been in the past, facing sorrow and loneliness by herself.
A strange feeling stirred within Agares—a desire to never see Milenia cry again, to never see her lonely again. He didn’t want that to happen.
"What’s wrong, Agares?" Aoi asked, turning around.
Agares shook his head. His thoughts were spiraling far beyond training. He refocused his mind, heart, and body, ready to begin their training session.
But before that, both he and Aoi needed to consume their EXP Elixirs—especially Aoi. Agares wanted to see how much stronger she’d become.
[+25000exp]
[EXP: 423500 / 441800] [+25000]
Agares drank his EXP Elixir and noted the significant increase. With just one high-quality elixir, he was nearly at level 8, stage 4.
But he’d deal with that later. His attention shifted to the side—another system panel had appeared in front of Aoi.
It had a green background, small in size—ideal for a fox. The writing wasn’t in Latin script. Agares squinted, curious.
"How is it?" Agares asked.
"The EXP Elixir worked. My level is now level 7."
"Did you feel any other changes besides the level-up?"
"All my attribute stats increased automatically based on my race’s default attributes. So, I guess I’m definitely stronger now."
"There’s only one way to confirm it—sparring," said Agares.
"Are you ready?" he asked.
Aoi nodded, one of her tails tensing as her eyes sharpened forward, "I’m ready!"
