Chapter 172: Delicious meal

The Mikael took me to a specific store in the kingdom, it seems to be focused on clothes. We both entered it and I already see a very wide variety, but it seems he is not here for the clothes as he continues to guide me through the store until we pass through a secret door in the wall.

It seems Mikael knows this kingdom well, which ends up being useful. After following the passage, we end up in a very fancy place that seems to be a restaurant.

A waiter attends to us and we go to the table to wait. I don’t know what Mikael ordered from the waiter, but he looked with a momentary look of surprise before confirming.

As we sit at the table, I observe the environment. It has a classic tone made with some kind of wood, the environment has a soft lighting that creates a slightly dark atmosphere.

"I think you’ll like this place," Mikael says to me as he watches me.

"Really?" So far it hasn’t impressed me, I thought I’d prefer when I planned the date since I’m quite meticulous. My meeting with Zephyra was completely planned and well-elaborated.

This encounter with Mikael is a disorganized mess without any planning, but considering he knows nothing about me, I guess it’s acceptable.

Soon the waiter brings the dishes and places them on the table on a tray.

’This...smells incredibly good.’ I don’t know what’s under the tray, but it has a delicious smell.

"And here is the ’wine’ you ordered...but...are you sure the lady can handle it?" The waiter asks Mikael with some apprehension, also speaking the word "wine" in a way that leaves the real meaning somewhat obscured.

"Yes, she can drink this without any problems," Mikael replies to the waiter, who places the bottle on the table. The bottle has an extremely dark red liquid that releases a strange aura.

Another difference is that it has no label or packaging, it’s just a glass bottle without any indications of what’s inside. The bottle itself seems unusual, being reinforced with mana.

"You can serve yourself, Pandora. I’m not a fan of what they serve in this place," Mikael says while looking at the tray.

I open it and what’s inside is a steak that’s not very well-done, still dripping blood. I touch it with the fork and notice that it’s very soft and has the perfect amount of fat. I cut it with the knife and put a piece in my mouth.

"Hmmmm." An involuntary moan of pleasure escapes me. This is a delight, it’s as good as the food served in the castle. This dish has a simple theme, but it enhances the flavor of the meat and the blood.

The meat is undoubtedly of excellent quality and seems to have gone through various processes to become perfect.

As I eat with pleasure, Mikael opens the "wine" bottle and serves me a glass. With curiosity, I try it.

"Delicious...I think it’s one of the most delicious drinks I’ve ever tried!" I say with an excited voice. I think it ranks just behind certain blood flavors, like Delphina’s blood, which is a delight without equal.

’This can only be... human meat and the blood of something...’ But the flavor of this blood is unique, strong and "powerful." I think a normal person would die if they tried it.

I’m interested in knowing why this place serves this, but I decide to finish this wonderful meal first. Mikael was right on the mark when he said I would like it.

It doesn’t even take 3 minutes and I’m already done, and I still want more.

"Mikael, why does this place serve this?" I wonder if it’s some kind of fetish of certain nobles for cannibalism, because I’m not human, so it’s not cannibalism for me, but if a human eats others, it’s obviously cannibalism.

"This place is run by vampires and serves food for vampires. Sometimes a human enters here by mistake, which is why the attendant was surprised by my direct order for food, even though I’m human."

"I see, you found them by their scent!" I say, remembering what he mentioned about smells earlier. He nods in confirmation.

"Okay, but what about this blood? What is it?" Obviously, this is not wine.

"It’s the blood of the queen of the vampires. She sells a limited quantity of bottles per year. It’s considered a delicacy without equal, with very high prices. Many vampires want this blood because it makes them stronger."

’I see, that’s a good marketing move.’ By selling limited quantities, she can keep a very high price, and as the only supplier, no one can complain about the prices.

"Do you think she’s willing to make a business deal for this drink to be ordered?"

"Probably not, even if it was for the Demon King, she would refuse. She’s strange, as far as I know."

"Who won, you or her?" Obviously, he has already dueled with her, even if it was just through that ability of his that forces a duel between souls.

"I don’t know, I’ve never fought her, or rather, I’ve never been able to find her," Mikael says with some disappointment.

’Seriously? How?’ I’m surprised, he was able to even find me for a duel, but he’s never encountered a single powerful being like that?

"I see..." Vampires are a strange race, as they are considered demons, but they can also be considered monsters, and often they are considered an individual race.

The reason for this is simple: no one knows where they came from. No goddess has mentioned having created them, and the demons themselves don’t know if they were created by the Goddess of the Abyss.

Vampires adore the Goddess of the Abyss, but this doesn’t imply anything, since the demons also adore the Goddess of the Abyss, even though it wasn’t the Goddess of the Abyss who created the demons.

That’s why vampires are complex beings. As there are many of them, they are unlikely to be evolved monsters, but without knowing who created them, there’s no way to know if they are an individual race or a specific type of demon.

"Anyway, you hit the mark perfectly with the order, it’s perfect," I say enthusiastically about this.

Soon the attendant brings the dessert, a type of pudding with a considerably pinkish color and covered with a dark red sauce.

I start to eat and obviously notice that it was entirely composed of humans. The vampires seem to be good at hiding, as no one notices this place. The pudding has a slightly sweet taste, and the blood-based sauce adds a soft sweetness.

’The attendant and the waiter are human...is it hypnosis? Or an illusion?’ I don’t think humans would like to work here. I decide to ignore this and enjoy the dessert.

After finishing the meal, Mikael pays the bill and we both leave.

"Mikael, could you buy me a cold sweet?"

"Sure."

Mikael seemed to think for a moment and understand why I chose that, in case we move on to sex, I don’t think Mikael is a fan of human blood, so at least this first time I wanted to keep it more normal.

The sweetness of a good ice cream would take the taste of blood out of my mouth, although Mikael doesn’t seem to mind, considering he brought me to a place that serves humans as food.

I think that because of his addiction to fights, things considered "disgusting" have become relatively normal for him. After all, as he spends a lot of time in dangerous places, he obviously has to eat monster meat.

That’s why it shouldn’t be a problem for him to kiss me even if I’ve eaten humans shortly before.

’This reminds me that Zephyra was forced into cannibalism. She seemed to feel very bad about it. Is she angry about this? Or has she just put that aside to accept me?’ During the date, Zephyra didn’t seem angry or sad.

So I think she just decided to "forget" this fact, put it aside to achieve her happiness.

We arrive at a candy store and he soon buys me the ice cream. While I’m eating the ice cream, I ask him:

"Mikael, would you have a problem kissing me...even if I’ve devoured humans?" I feel a certain apprehension in him saying he wouldn’t like it, after all, I’m not going to stop eating what I like just because they don’t like it.

"I don’t mind."

"Really?"

"Yes, I’ve eaten humans before."

"!!!" He looks at me and says this as if it’s natural.

"Why?" I question with serious doubts.

"It was in the past, I was young, in an isolated place without any food, and I was hungry, so I did it."

"Why the surprise? Humans are like animals in nature, only the strongest survive," he says with some conviction.

"Hehehe."

"You seem happy about that," he says upon hearing my chuckle.

"Well...you keep getting more perfect by the second, how could I not be happy? It’s almost as if you were made just for me." He never said he likes to eat humans, but the fact that he doesn’t mind it already makes me happy.

"...Tsk." I click my tongue when several guards appear and bow to the two of us.

"Mr. Mikael and Grand Duchess Pandora, please come with us to the castle."

The guards came to get us, probably because of the delay, and they must have found our carriage empty and all the knights dead.

"Okay," Mikael says, confirming this.

’These vermin interrupted my date!!’ My desire to kill them becomes evident, they even tremble as they feel the murderous intent directed at them. After this, Mikael and I would probably have had a passionate night together.

But these damn vermin ruined everything. They soon get up and start to guide us, while I calm my anger.
