The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love-Chapter 441: Walk away (7)
"That was the kind of man Yang Ruo Xuan was," Yang Cheng said, slipping into the present from the past.
"If you truly love your father, then know that there wasn’t even a single moment in time he had ever lived happily in the Yang mansion. I learned that myself when I became Yang Cheng. Not even once did he ever visit his grandson in London. He didn’t hold...even a moment’s hesitation when I stood in front of him. That’s how little he cared about him."
Mulan bit her lower lip. "Easy for you to say when you are enjoying all the luxuries...!"
"I think you forgot about the part where I told you it was Xie’s idea."
"And you went along with it, because why not?" she sneered with disdain.
"Correct. Why not? My family life wasn’t an issue," he plainly said, "I thought about it long and hard but I didn’t see any problem with his proposal. I just wanted to practice medicine. It didn’t matter if I achieved that as Xie Zi Han or Yang Cheng. My environment wasn’t going to influence my ambition. The Yang family brought a different set of problems, but it wasn’t like my life as Xie Zi Han would have been smooth sailing. So it didn’t matter to me which problems I would face."
"Life as Xie Zi Han would have been vastly different because you didn’t have the resources" She gritted her teeth. "Don’t tell me that the Yang family’s money, reputation and influence didn’t help you with your career!?"
He frowned. "On the contrary, I had to prove myself in the hospital, more so because I wasn’t Xie Zi Han. That wasn’t an easy path. Everybody looked at me as Yang Cheng, who didn’t take medicine very seriously. No amount of money and influence would have helped me gain the trust of my fellow doctors and nurses."
Yang Bingqing harrumphed. "And I am Cheng’s wife so I have seen him work closely! The only place where he has even bothered to use the Yang name and influence is to steer the medical field in a positive direction. There were lots of holes in my father-in-law’s ways of working. The hospitals felt more like businesses than a place that’s meant to treat people. Cheng made hospitals and treatments accessible to everyone and not even once, did he use that name to fill up his own pockets! Don’t you dare sully my husband’s name!"
"I don’t care! I don’t believe it was Dad’s idea at all. You manipulated him."
Xie Zi Han pulled her arm back. "Mulan, listen to me. It’s all true...It was my idea. Please-"
"Lie!" She shook off his arm and glared. "At the end of the day, he stole my identity! I am supposed to be the real Yang heiress and not Mingshen!"
Losing her last strand of patience, Yang Bingqing’s expression turned pure menacing.
"One more time you disrespect Xie and I will slap the shit out of you."
Mingshen raised his hand. "You better take that threat seriously. She will beat the shit of you. Speaking from experience."
Yang Bingqing took a cold step towards her and grabbed her arm in her vicious grip.
"Let me go!" Her fingers digging into her skin felt like a cruel death sentence as if she would peel the skin off her arm.
"You are babbling on and on about being the real Yang heiress. For once, I would have understood if you were speaking on behalf of Xie, but why are you spouting so much nonsense!?"
Xie Zi Han immediately stepped in. "Boss, let’s stop here. I will-"
"No, you won’t do anything. Whatever has to be done, I will do it now. I know you don’t want me to say it, but someone has to drill sense into this nonsense brain of hers! How dare she disrespect you! She keeps saying that she is doing everything for you because she felt you were wronged and manipulated, but I only see a selfish brat wanting to hog the wealth that doesn’t even belong to hers!"
Mulan’s gaze darkened. "What the hell! How could you say that? I am the real Yang Cheng’s daughter!"
"Xie Zi Han is the real Yang Cheng but you are not his real daughter!"
Her eyes widened, stupefied and so did everybody else’s.
"Have you lost your mind!?"
"It’s you who have lost your mind! You are not Xie’s real daughter. He adopted you!"
She froze.
Xie Zi Han closed his eyes, defeated. The truth of his daughter’s evil deeds had already left him drained and lost. The day couldn’t become any worse for him.
"Xie never got married. He found you abandoned as a baby one day and decided to take you in. He became your father even though you never held any blood relation with him."
Mulan stared at her blankly. It wasn’t the kind of truth she was prepared to hear or digest.
"You know what? I wouldn’t have really brought up this topic at all because it actually doesn’t matter if you are his real daughter or not. The moment he held you in his arms, you became Xie Mulan for him. That was the end of it. But instead of being a good daughter doing her filial duty, you crossed all kinds of lines to become the worst person possible!
You created a deadly game that played with the minds of young people, you colluded with Ningkai to ruin innocent women’s lives - being a damn woman yourself! You let Xie down in every way possible and then you have the audacity to claim his fortune? You don’t deserve even a penny of it! Not because you are not tied to him by blood but because you don’t deserve to carry the Yang family’s legacy."
She violently pushed her forward to make her face Xie Zi Han.
"Just look at him. He is the man who gave you a home and loved you unconditionally. You should have been making him proud, NOT disappointed like this. Just look into his damn eyes for a moment and ask yourself. With what eyes do you see this man feeling unjust for giving up on the Yang name? You were playing a losing battle from the beginning because the games you were playing to get the Yang name back is the very thing he walked away from! It’s you who wanted the wealth and status, not him. Every single thing you did was to stroke your own damn ego!"
