The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated-Chapter 11: [Adventurer’s Guild]
Chapter 011: [Adventurer’s Guild]
Looking at the smiling receptionist before him, Shien thought for a moment before opening his mouth.
“Might I ask, what kind of procedure is needed to become an adventurer?”
Shien asked a question like that.
Indeed. Shien is going to become an adventurer.
Back when he first arrived and he was considering how to live in this world, Shien decided that becoming an adventurer is something unavoidable.
Therefore, Shien decided to try out being an adventurer before making any more plans.
He don’t want to starve after all, right?
“Very well, you want to become an adventurer, right?”
The receptionist’s smile didn’t waver as if she anticipated Shien’s request.
“Well then, please allow me to first inform you of the required information regarding adventurers and the adventurer’s guild.”
With that, the receptionist launched into a quick and smooth explanation.
“First, you may already know some of this, but I’ll still first explain just what are adventurers and what is the adventurer’s guild.”
Just like what Shien already knew, the so called adventurers are people who adventures for a living and work through taking various requests.
They’re spread out across various countries across the world, and they can be seen in every nation.
In the beginning, they appeared around the period immediately following the end of the war thousands of years ago.
For the sake of recovering from the damage brought about by the war, the various races who lacked manpower ended up producing a group like that, who took on various kinds of work through accepting requests.
After thousands of years of development, those people became the adventurers of today.
By now, adventurers are already commonplace across all of Omnipotlin. They’re relied upon even by the highest levels of each nation and are deeply trusted by the people.
And the adventurer’s guild is the organization the adventurers are affiliated with. They’re responsible for managing adventurer. They take requests from various locations and groups, investigate and divide those requests by difficulty, and hand them out to the adventurers for selection.
There is an adventurer’s guild branch in every town and city of every county. The guild’s headquarters is located in the birthplace of adventurers, the capital of the Mitra Kingdom. This Mitra Kingdom is also the nation that Lamdrion is a part of and, at the same time, the greatest kingdom of the world.
Shien really wanted to know more about this country, but the receptionist didn’t seem inclined to go into details.
Then Shien also wanted to know more about the “war thousands of years ago” and “various races” that the receptionist mentioned.
Of course, if it’s the latter, it’s not like Shien’s clueless either.
This is because Shien had seen various unthinkable existences during his walk through Lamdrion.
Beastmen with animal ears and tail.
Dwarves with girthy bodies but short statures.
Even elves with pointy ears and exceptional beauty.
All of those are races that were only existed in legends in his previous life, but now appeared as if it’s completely natural in town. There are even quite a few of them in the adventurer’s guild mixed in with the humans. The scene is very fantasy-like.
This other world seems to be not only filled with humans, but also various other races.
After all, even gods and a Demon King exists here, so it’s not something to be surprised about
However, that “war thousands of years ago” did catch Shien’s interests.
But that seems to be common knowledge in this world, so the receptionist doesn’t seem inclined to explain further, so Shien could only suppress his curiosity and listen on.
It’s under this circumstance that the receptionist begun the important part of the explination.
“If you want to be an adventurer, you must first reach the legal adult age for your race. For example, that would be 15 years old for humans and beastmen, for dwarves it’s 50 years old, and for elves it’s 150 years old. Your level has to have reached at least level 10. Those are the conditions for becoming an adventurer.”
“Adventurers are also divided by levels.”
“Level 10 and above adventurers are grade 1 adventurers, and the guild will grant them an iron first grade tag.”
“Level 20 and above adventurers are grade 2 adventurers, and the guild will grant them a bronze second grade intermediate tag.”
“Level 30 and above adventurers are grade 3 adventurers, and the guild will grant them a silver third grade advanced tag.”
“Level 40 and above adventurers are grade 4 adventurers, and the guild will grant them a gold fourth grade peak tag.”
“Level 50 and above adventurers are grade 5 adventurers, and the guild will grant them a platinum fifth grade special tag.”
“Level 60 and above adventurers are grade 6 adventurers, and the guild will grant them a mithril sixth grade famed tag.”
“Level 70 and above adventurers are grade 7 adventurers, and the guild will grant them an obsidian seventh grade glory tag.”
“By law, grade 7 are the highest grade of adventurers. Throughout the entirety of the adventurer’s guild across the world, there are only 33 adventurers of that grade. Of them, four of them have reached above level 80, and there’s one level 90+. Although all of them are still considered grade 7 adventurers to the outside and only bear the obsidian seventh grade tags, the positions of those five are different from the other grade 7s. They’ll get special treatment from the various nations of the world, and some have even been named to the nobility. Sometimes they’d even get requests the decide the fate of nations or take direct request from royalty. They enjoy peerless prestige.
“We of the adventurer’s guild will welcome anyone to join, and we hope for everyone to live fulfilling lives as adventurers. So long it’s not someone who had lost their “Blessing”, we won’t reject anyone.” Hearing that, Shien raised an eyebrow.
This “Blessing” that they speak of. Yet another intriguing term.
The receptionist took out a piece of equipment and set it on the counter without any idea of what Shien was thinking.
It’s an item with a floating crystal ball that resembled a blank globe.
This is the magic scanner. It has the effect of a level 6 [Appraisal], so it can reveal the level of anyone below level 70 and all skills below level 7. Although it can’t reveal unique or special skills, it can reveal the existence of a blessing even if it can’t tell which god it’s from. So long as you have a blessing, it will release a white light, and if it’s otherwise, it will give off a black light.
The guild receptionist explained.
“Please put a hand over the magic scanner.”
As he heard that, Shien couldn’t help but get nervous.
Obviously, if the device end up releasing black light, his reception here will likely change drastically.
Just what is that “Blessing” anyways?
According to the receptionist, it seems to be a skill related to a god.
Shien involuntarily took a glance at a certain skill in his skill list – [Blessing of the Highest God].
That should be his own “Blessing,” right?
As he thought that, Shien calmed himself, extended his hand and placed it over the magic scanner.
“Ping!”
A second later, the crystal of the magic scanner lit up and projected line after line of other world characters over the scanner.
Thank goodness though, the light is white.
Seeing that, the receptionist gave a smile and then shifted her gaze to look at the characters floating over the magic scanner.
What she saw there stunned her.
